I'd like to escape death nonetheless
But here I won't have any luck
The shadow that moves in the darkened alley, a young lady swooning. The growl behind you as the sound of paws taps the concrete softly. A woman in a red dress and fur-lined coat, the jewels at her neck glowing with an inner, unnatural fire. A cat sitting in the street, who watches you intently, more than animal curiosity in its brown eyes. Your heartbeat quickens and a shiver runs down your spine, your imagination fuelled by the horror movies and stories you were so into as a kid. You brush it off as fantasy. After all, none of that is real.
Only it is, and somewhere you know, deep down inside, that any one of those things you saw could kill you.
The Danse Macabre is an original supernatural board, set in a darker version of the modern world. Wilmington, NC rests on the Cape Fear River, and dates back to early Colonial times. For more than a hundred years it has also been home to the supernatural.
