Shockwave was used to working in isolation on Cybertron, away from prying, curious onlookers with their constant questions and annoying probes. He didn't have assistants, which he actually found to be more bothersome than useful since they got in the way of his work. The one thing they seemed to be handy for were if he needed a quick test subject and was fresh out of 'willing' Autobot participants who would unfortunately find their way into enemy territory as prisoners of war.
Flatline? Perhaps decent as one, but that was mostly due to the fact the mech stayed gone and knew when to keep away. Once in a while he would chat, question something, but they were few and far between and usually got the hint that it was not a time for conversation when Shockwave would remain silent. He had his own place to work which was far away from the section of the ship the single-optic mech called his solitude.
While Shockwave had multiple projects happening almost at once, it was not to say they were without some rest between. The one he had been working on when Soundwave had entered would prove useful as finding alternate means of power for the little things he was clawing at for the time being, all linked together in his own way, in ways that only he would understand. Sometimes the same was said for the notes he kept in his logs. He had his own hidden agenda, always did, and that was something he didn't jot down where someone else could see.
The blasted truce, in its own way was a blessing. It meant the sharing of information that the sides could exchange, which, for him, he knew that there were very interesting mechs on the other side who could give him information he required. Denying him certain access would surely mean putting strain on it, which he didn't feel that the Autobots would want to risk.
