Starscream gave a gentle bob of his helm to Knock Out's request, and would quickly make his way over to the drawers as directed. If it were anyone else on the berth he would've simply left Knock Out alone to do his job, reporting in later once things were complete. But... for some reason, he felt he owed it to Skyfire to not only stick around, but also assist in repairing him where he could.
Part of him wished Knock Out would just... stop talking sometimes. Skyfire had been on the brink of death and this wasn't the time for unnecessary charm. But on the other hand, the one which kept him from telling Knock Out to shut up and get on with his work? It kept Skyfire talking. It kept him focused, it kept him awake. Asking questions about their past... Mm, while he had absolutely nothing to hide there and did not mind what was said, it would at least keep Skyfire's processor working as he was made to recall old memories. It could help them see if any damage had been done to his processor and systems that weren't outwardly apparent.
Plus, it was always nice to hear about things from back then sometimes.
Carefully, he'd rummage through the drawers. Knock Out was nothing but pedantic with his organizational skills, and everything was neatly arranged with glyphs marking what was what. Of course, the more valuable things such as the strong painkillers and sedatives were locked safely away – but the Energon and basic supplies were kept in easy to access drawers and shelves.
He'd pluck a syringe from the drawer, tilting it ever so slightly in his digits to check it was correct before pushing the drawer closed. This Energon wasn't the digestible kind, merely a booster - to be injected directly into lines for those whose own Energon levels were on the low side. While Skyfire's levels weren't dangerous, as evidenced by the lack of urgency in Knock Out's tone, this was probably for precaution sake before actual repairs were carried out.
His wings wilted some as he listened in and heard Skyfire's apology, although he'd swivel quickly on a heel and made his way back over with wings flared up once more like nothing was wrong.
“Here.” He hummed, offering out the Energon syringe to Knock Out, taking a step back and away once it'd been handed over - giving the Medic room to work.
He couldn't help but smile – albeit a weak one – at Skyfire's words. Exploring and flying... While he did still love to fly, it'd been a long, long time since he'd been able to really explore. It wouldn't have been the same by himself, even if he did.
“Indeed – we explored many previously unexplored planets. Both for the sake of study and advancing our knowledge, but for seeking out Energon as well.”
That smile would fade at the last part.
“That does not matter now - I am just thankful we found you.” The fact he didn't boast nor gloat with an 'I told you so' probably told much.
Even if there was some selfish reasoning behind the joy of finding Skyfire... deep down? Starscream was genuinely happy that his old friend had survived after so long – and that he had been the one to find him again.
Then the question came. Primus, how long had it been? Millions of years, at least. Enough time for the Ice Age to come and go, and for the human infestation to evolve and grow, spreading planet-wide, enough time for their own planet to be almost uninhabitable and in ruins... Ugh. That was going to be a hard pill to swallow when it came to talk about that. Even if during the early days of unrest, Skyfire had spent more of his time away from the planet? It was still their home.
Gently, he'd clear his throat.
“A while.” He'd leave it at that for now, not wanting to put the poor mech into shock at hearing the actual answer.
