(Episode 2.5, week 2, day 4)
The lights in the underground base were sometimes stark and unpleasant to look at. They could create shadows that looked deep enough to vanish in entirely.
Normally, these thoughts were comforting to Finale. She was used to staying to the shadows. Letting the darkness hide her. Like a spider, she felt the most in control when hidden, waiting to spring her trap on the unwary. And while she wasn’t constantly in a hunting frame of mind, the deep dark places always gave her a sense of security. Of control. In the darkness she was safe. In the darkness she did as she pleased.
But here….here the darkness didn’t comfort her. Because she knew that lurking above her….miles above her…were tons and tones of rock and stone. Stone that could fall on her.
Trapping her.
Keeping her from moving. From being able to move. Keeping her helpless.
As she stood before the door of Lord Starscream's quarters...if such a thing could really be called a “door”, a deep tremor moved through Finale’s frame. She had few bits and pieces to move about - not a lot of “kibble”. But the parts of her that did transform gave a minuscule jerk, as if wanting to shift and put her into her fast form, to take her far from that place.
Another reason she felt very off-balance was one that she could no more control than the depth of the base.
Megatron, their warlord, their leader, was missing.
Finale had devoted her life to doing work that she felt would bring Megatron glory. To live and if need be, die, to bring about his ideas and plans for their people and Cybertron. And while she had never met the Warlord, nor had she ever expected to, she had always been content knowing she was still working on his ideals.
With him missing…she felt oddly…lost.
Was there a Decepticon faction without Megatron? Would it withstand his loss? Was anyone even trying to find him?
Finale knew Starscream…Lord Starscream was now in control, but…what was his plan?
Finale straightened herself. No matter. He was the leader of the Decepticons, even if for a short while, and she would do well to remember that. After having explored the base as much as was possible, she felt it was now time to present herself in case he wished to put her to work. It wasn’t impossible that in the chaos of moving here and trying to get set up, no one had bothered to even let him know there was a newcomer to the base.
Standing up to her (smallish) full height, Finale raised a servo, and lightly rapped on the “door” covering the entrance to Lord Starscream’s personal quarters.

“Lord Starscream? A moment of your time, if you are not busy.”
