History:
Pyro started life as a constructed cold airport firefighter in the city-state of Helex. Pyro was satisfied with his job, having a growing friendship with a mech named Windfall who was more accident prone than others on the job. While there was the occasional complaint about either how much he was getting paid, whether it didn’t meet his workload or little respect was given to him in spite of his workload, ultimately there was nothing else to object to. When the Great War broke out, Pyro was initially a conscientious objector, and was joining other neutrals, including Windfall, in the Great Exodus to leave Cybertron when Decepticons shot down their craft. After managing to escape the ‘Cons, Pyro changed his mind and joined the Autobots, assuming his current function some time after joining. At some point during his inception, Pyro attempted to get back into contact with Windfall, but was unsuccessful. Later, Pyro would find his name in a list of other neutral dead. While Pyro was indeed shaken by this news, his life-changing moment was still to come.
During the war, Pyro would hear by word of mouth of tales of the bravery of the Autobots’ leader, Optimus Prime. Pyro, at the time, wouldn’t pay heed to these tales until one fateful day during the Simanzi Massacre. Psi Squad, a team that Pyro had been recently assigned to, had found themselves under fire from Decepticon force, pinned down, and the individual members being picked off one by one. Pyro had sustained injuries during the scuffle, and was eventually unable to continue. However, before the Decepticons finished the job, Pyro was saved at the last moment by another squad of Autobots lead by Optimus Prime himself. Pyro was still conscious, and found the spectacle to be more than another close call for a hapless soldier. After his recovery, Pyro would find himself glorifying Optimus Prime. Nay. Idolizing him! Optimus Prime had proven in Pyro’s eyes to be the fantastic hero his comrades had told him Optimus was.
Pyro decided to better himself as a result, working to emulate his newfound hero in every way he could. The methods Pyro employed included taking Optimus’s ideals to heart, and changing his own frame to an appearance that replicated Prime’s. Eventually, Pyro would even go so far as to adopt his current red and blue color scheme, and even added a faceplate. It was clear to Pyro’s fellow Autobots that this was more than hero worship, as he would also go on tangents which consisted of regularly quoted phrases best attributed to Optimus Prime. Pyro would be diagnosed with “primus apotheosis”: a personality disorder that is characterized by an obsessive need to emulate a Prime regardless of societal status. Eventually, Pyro would be granted membership in the Autobot suicide squad known as the Wreckers. One of his most well known assignments on the squad include the Cybertronian colony world of Prion where he was among the Wreckers to fight off seemingly never ending troops of Vehicons to protect a convoy containing energon for civilian resource usage.
This all brings us to the present day. Pyro and six other Wreckers were captured during an assault on a secret Decepticon weapons research outpost on a planet in the Milky Way Galaxy known as Hassar IV, the intel on the base’s location coming from an Autobot spy known as Firewall. The security detail on the base, however, proved too much for the squad as they were already employing some of the weapons being developed, such as the gun that defeated the team: an experimental “mind bomb”, a bomb-like device able to send out electronic signal to stimulate pain signals to enemy brain modules. Normally, the Wreckers would have been killed on the spot, but the base leader, Clench, intended to interrogate the Wreckers about how the Autobots had discovered the base’s location. Then cut off both loose ends afterward, the Wreckers and the information leak. The Decepticons proceeded to lock up the Wreckers onboard their ship, the Nevox, as well as transfer all their weapon projects for security purposes. They also destroyed their base on Hassar IV. Considering the Decepticons were dealing with Wreckers, torture was normally applied, though the group refused to give. Eventually, one of the Wreckers eventually succumbed to the wounds experienced and keeled over during torture. Shortly afterward, the Wreckers implemented their plan of escape by staging a fake argument in their cell, then knock out the guards and escape guns blazing (after getting back their weapons, of course). While the Wreckers were making their way to the escape pods, the team found themselves blocked off by numerous Vehicons wielding experimental weapons, including the mind bomb. Two Wreckers fought the Vehicon who wielded the device, and one of them accidentally shot the bomb as it was being activated. This caused the device to malfunction and direct its signals toward both Wreckers’ brain modules at enough power to cause the poor saps’ heads to explode. The remaining Autobots didn’t have time to mourn, and proceeded to steal the escape pods, Jet Vehicons in hot pursuit. During the dangerous game of dodging enemy fire, one of the pods was shot down and destroyed. Pyro didn’t get to learn the fates of the other two Wreckers as his pod’s propulsion systems ended up getting shot, causing it to kick afterburners and careen Pyro across the galaxy. The pod’s current trajectory is directed towards Earth.

Personality:
Pyro does his best to emulate the behavior of Optimus Prime on the battlefield: looking out his teammates, brave, steadfast, and never surrendering. However, this is where the similarities end in terms of personality. While on the outside, Pyro is affable enough, but when circumstances are not in his personal favor: he can come off as a prideful jerk as a result of his combat expertise and status as a Wrecker, and the subject of his conversations sometimes stem back to his mental illness in some way. These factors also result in Pyro wearing his faceplate all day, every day, only retracting it to drink, then proceeding to wear it again. Pyro’s ultimate wish is to die a glorious death in combat alongside Prime, a feat near impossible considering Optimus has been conducting operations on Earth ever since the Ark crashed on the planet. Ultimately, however, Pyro does truly want to be like his hero, and the death of a friend or someone he’s just starting to know still hurts his spark.

Another scream ran out in the dark in Simanzi amidst an array of gunfire. Another Autobot dead, and another insult to injury to Pyro’s shot kneecap. Psi Squad was currently pinned down in a trench in rocky terrain, and the situation was getting ever so worse for the Autobots. The squad leader, Tremor, was shouting orders to his men with the calmest tone he can muster... which still sounded gruff, angry, and anxious. Vardas was carrying out the orders given, sniping Vehicons in whatever weak spot he knew, from heads to spark chambers. Pyro in the meantime was firing one of his SMGs at the Vehicon horde, thoughts lingering about a mech who just went down. Pyro barely knew the guy, didn’t even ask his name before now, and yet as a fellow Cybertronian the loss still hurting his spark. He thought of ways of diffusing the tension, but they kept slipping from mind. Pyro heard his leader’s voice once again.
“Pyro! How many more Vehicons we lookin’ at?” Tremor ordered, his voice again puncturing the chorus of gunfire.
“As far as I can tell, sir, we still got about hundreds of thousands on our afts!” Pyro’s voice wavered only slightly. Pyro’s time in service has taught him the value of a respectful tone, though the situation wasn’t helping those matters. Or any for the squad, really. “Feels like they just send in a hundred more of ‘em with every ten we take out!”
“They’re Vehicons! What’d you’d expect from armies of expendable lookalikes?!” Vardas quipped over the radio.
“Can that talk, Vardas!” Tremor radioed back. Any other time snark would be fine, but currently things we’re heading downhill fast and that kind of talk would only complicate their focus. “How many do you, see?!”
“Have to go with Pyro on this one, sir. Enemy troop count is hopelessly large.” Grounge responded.
“Grounge! Anything noteworthy?!”
“Pain, suffering, and eternal stasis. Not necessarily in that order.”
“Oh, for the love of Pri-”
Three more gunshots sounded off from the enemy as Tremor was facepalming from Grounge’s response. Grounge had his head explode out the back, Vardas got one in the shoulder, and Pyro’s gun exploded in hand, covering his frame in smoke and shrapnel and destroying the arm. Pyro fell on his back against the trench suffering from cuts, and turned to find Tremor being riddled with gunfire until he finally went down. Pyro also heard Vardas grunt as Vehicons closed in for the kill. “Come on you sons of-” Vardas didn’t get to finish his statement as he was shot in the spark and fell down like Tremor. Pain was shooting through Pyro’s frame like no tomorrow. With him barely the last ‘bot standing, Pyro knew from the onset it was over for him considering his handicapped and injured state. Pyro stared at the horde as they confidently closed in for the kill.
However, Pyro’s luck would soon change dramatically as he was nearing what looked like his end. It was almost as if the universe decided to take mercy on the poor mech, however in the process this moment would forever change Pyro’s life. He had only heard glorified tales of the leader of the Autobots, with his legendary battlefield prowess and the kindness and decency he exhibited toward his troops. Pyro thought nothing of it the the time, but tonight, well… it changed that for Pyro. For into the night of the rocky desert part of Simanzi, a familiar red and blue truck came rolling across the terrain behind the trench, and was being followed by numerous other Autobots. The truck transformed into his robot mode, whipped out his Ion Blaster, and proceeded to mow down the enemy. The Autobots behind the truck-bot followed suit, aiding their C.O. with either melee weapons or guns themselves. In that moment, Pyro was bewildered by the sheer fortune the incident, as well as the identity of the mech who made it happen. Optimus Prime has come to save his life!
- Likes: Optimus Prime, combat, saving his friends, respect and admiration
- Dislikes: Getting cheesed off, disrespect, being ignored (especially by Prime), Decepticons, reminders or mentions of his mental illness, being denied his wishes
Strengths/Weapons:
- Armor: Pyro’s armor is in par with stronger bots like Bulkhead and Breakdown, with his strength just as equal to match. Pyro is able to shrug off most if not all average gunfire, as well as tank physical hits from the likes of Bulkhead, either from punches or melee weaponry such as hammers or wrecking balls. Pyro’s armor is also durable against bladed weapons such as knives, short to medium-sized swords, and even axes to some extent as swords.
- SMGs: Pyro wields a pair of semiautomatic rifles, each having an ammo capacity of 120 rounds with clips that can hold up to 24. The SMG ammo itself is able mow down ‘bots in standard issue armor, and can cause issues for some of the stronger ‘bots.
- Water gun: this out of the ordinary weapon is made out of the hose Pyro had from his days as an airport firefighter. The gun itself is able to shoot pressurized water up to 30 feet, the water itself strong enough to knock your average ‘bot off his feet.
- Holomatter avatar: outside of combat, Pyro has a holoform emitter hidden in the canopy of his truck cab, which can project his holomatter avatar to up to about 8 yards (or 25 feet).
Weaknesses:
- Armor: While able to move faster than Bulkhead and Breakdown, Pyro’s armor still causes him to be comparatively slow when it comes to physical combat. Durability-wise, Pyro is weak against forms of science-based weaponry such fusion cannons, to heavy barrages from weapons such as miniguns or missile pods. Powerful rockets or missiles in particular can be able to breach Pyro’s armor.
- SMGs: Pyro’s SMGs are sufficient with dealing with a sizable number of enemy troops, numbers ranging from 12 to 17. However, as Pyro’s life-changing event at Simanzi showed, the SMGs are useless when it comes to entire platoons of troops since while you’re still able to gun down a chunk of the enemy forces, their numbers are still enormous so there’s only so much you can mow down before you run out of ammo. The SMGs are also useless against someone with armor at or above the level of Optimus Prime or Megatron.
- Water gun: Pyro’s water gun is meant for firefighting for a reason. While it can be used in ways that make good use of its properties, it’s still an impractical weapon in an actual fight. You can have your fun in seeing the enemy get humiliated by the fact they’re being drenched by what is essentially a glorified fire hose, but don’t act surprised if someone like Megatron or Breakdown manages to tank the amount of pressure he or she's being exhibited against.
- Personality: Pyro runs the risk of getting caught up in the middle of battle and fantasize in his head of the death he craves. This effect is amplified if Optimus Prime is on that battlefield. In addition, Pyro’s primus apotheosis can cause people who notice the signs to become very well creeped out. Pyro also falters in circumstances not in favor with his desires, which causes the portions of his less-than-stellar personality to bleed out and can disrupt any social relationships he may have. This can also result in Pyro becoming more impulsive in an attempt to turn things back in his favor.
Special Skills:
- Firefighting expertise: In spite of 4,000,000 years of warfare, Pyro is still as good at his job as it was back in the old days. Although this knowledge is meant for airports, so there’s bound to be some knowledge gaps when he comes across a building fire if out on patrol. Not that it stops him.
- Tactics: Because of Pyro’s obsessive need to emulate Optimus Prime, Pyro has more knowledge in the field of tactics more than the average soldier. After all, Optimus Prime is the Autobot leader! His tactical knowledge must logically be unprecedented if he’s managed to hold the role for as long as he has! Though this is Pyro we’re talking about, so he’s obviously has a long way to go in order to reach that level of knowledge and experience. In any case, Pyro’s current level of tactical know-how allows him to take up a leadership or lancer role if rank puts him in that position, as well as allow him to outthink Vehicons if the need arises. Although he’s perfectly willing to follow orders from people who know more than him.
- Optimus Prime trivia master: This is also the result of Pyro’s primus apotheosis. Pyro has deep insight into Optimus Prime’s military history, as well as pre-war background. While this doesn’t mean he’s an expert on Prime’s personal wants, needs, desires, and relationships; Pyro’s still able to recall knowledge on Optimus Prime’s various victories and employed strategies during the latter’s long life.
