Robots in Disguise

Just something silly I've been thinking about for way too long but how much of an Earth alt mode is disguise and how much is true to capability?
I'll use Rail as a specific example to describe my interpretation of "Robots in disguise" and what I’m getting at. Rail is a Cybertronian who transforms into a four wheeled ground vehicle that due to scanning outwardly resembles a Chevy C10 drag truck. He is most definitely not a Chevy - he just looks like one. Opening his bonnet wont reveal a V8 nitro methanol fueled internal combustion engine, but instead components of his robot mode legs and other Cybertronian anatomy. If he sounds like a V8 then he's faking it. He probably weighs much more than a real drag truck, has less top end speed but handles corners happily. I also figure Rail can raise or lower his suspension as he wishes depending on road conditions. I have not figured out how much he can see or even how he sees in vehicle mode.
Of the same note, I figure Blurr could still outperform a Lamborghini even if he scanned a VW beetle, and Guzzle would still be gas hungry even as a Prius. Aerodynamics would still be a major effect for anyone at high speed. At the same time I could reason flier who transforms into Boeing DC3 could still be radar stealthy due to special Cybertronian paint and a Northrop B2 could be as obvious as a cyclone simply because they're an alien robot with a pretty flying wing shape with very radar reflective materials and construction.
So, how deep does your interpretation of "Robots in disguise" go?
Possibly over thinking things: Rail is roughly five times taller than a human. Average human is let’s say 1.7 meters and 60kg. Five cubed is 125, 125 X 60kg is 7.5 ton. A human increased to Rail’s size is massive. How heavy is Rail?..errr 3 ton maybe…Putting logic to illogical fiction is hard.
