Name/Alias: Dragon
CHARACTER INFO
Name: Pan (Panhead when she’s in trouble)
Age: late teens
Gender: Femme
Species: Junkion/Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Mechanic/Fabricator
Occupation/Specialization: Starship Mechanic
Appearance: Pan is a petite femme bike former, primarily black and red, with neon blue bio-lights, and standing a head shorter than Arcee. She has gone to lengths to clean herself up and looks far newer than the day the she was put together.
Pan’s simple face is dark grey, broad of cheek ridge and slightly sunken cheeks. She sports a bright purple optic band, the outer quarters are flat while the center half is a very flat V shape. Pan’s lips are gothic black. She has a pair of very prominent horns. Starting from her temporal cranial plate, they project forward, curve up and the tip just starts to curve a little forward again. The have a teardrop cross section with the point at the front edge. Pan also has large circular temporal structures connected with a band running over her head not unlike large earphones. She also sports an excessive wild ponytail consisting of thermally conductive mal-metal fibres. Due to static attraction, fibres bundle together while bundles repel each other. Airflow through the fibres provides the majority of Pan’s cranial thermal control. Pan has a slim neck and thus separate thermal control systems for body and head. Some Cybertronians have cheek or dorsal vents, Pan has a pony tail. It’s not unusual to see heat shimmer from her pony tail.
The rear wheel of her alt splits into two thinner wheels and becomes her feet with retractable heel struts and toe plates to provide a modicum of stability when she's not rolling like a skater. Her shins and calves narrow upwards to her slim thighs. Pan is also narrow of hip and wasp-like waist. Her upper torso bulks out to the same width as her hips. Pans shoulders are modest as are her slim upper arms. The forearms and hands of Pan are over-sized and her fingers long and pointed. The front wheel of Pan’s motorbike alt floats on her back unattached physically to any structure, supported instead by magnetic linking. The rim, spokes and tire invert so that the spokes point outward in a star pattern.
Altmode: Pan’s alt is a custom 2012 Harley Davidson Street Glide Bagger. Although it looks very low slung, Pan can adjust her own ride height and suspension to quite a degree.
History: Forged, constructed and built from new, recycled and re-purposed parts on the planet Junk, Panhead is a classic example of a Junkion in many aspects. But even amongst her similar brethren, Pan stood apart due to her strong rebellious streak and her wanderlust. She didn’t want to sit idly on a comfy couch and voyeuristically partake in the cultures of others, she wanted to be among those who truly created and acted upon their desires. Like her kin, Pan naturally excelled in mechanics and engineering. Due to her own longings to get away, she focused her skill into starship repair. Of course the Junkions didn't always sit around the ogle box; they did partake occasionally in some fun sports, like fighting and racing. Of these Pan was a huge fan and participant but on their own they weren't enough. Roller derbys were the best sport of all but far too rare. At the earliest opportunity, Pan hitchhiked across the galaxy, a handy guide in a subspace pocket always ready, and the skill of an adept mechanic to barter wherever she needed.
Her first off world experience was on an old freighter needing outdated spares parts and more hands on deck to keep sailing the cosmos. The Junkion femme sought out active cultures and live performances, always yearning for fresh experiences. For years at a time, she would be a roadie for bands, or mechanic on trading vessels. Experience slowly led to maturity, but the rebellious streak in her code always remained. She thrived travelling the space-lanes and following her whims, she rose to every challenge, and came to view the universe through one particular perspective – the strong got what they wanted, the weak got trodden.
Physically weak by the standards of her race was only relative. Junkions were hard to kill. She never shied from any conflict that may have crossed her path. Pan fought for her own goals – mostly the freedom to experience every culture she could. A thousand worlds, a hundred conflicts and a million songs to hear, Pan lived it up all that she could. Over the millennia, Pan learnt melee in the school of hard knocks. She had some mentoring and but is more self-taught than anything else. She has copied some moves from various paraphernalia and worked out through trail and error what works for her. Roller derbys have taught her a lot for example about striking while staying focused on more than just the fight.
She only returned to her home planet once, about five years ago. She was there for the primary purpose of once again spare parts for an ancient spacecraft. At that time broadcasts from Earth had become the vogue of the century, and the Autobot / Decepticon conflict had spread. Both caught Pan’s attention. She decided to stay planet side for short stint, sifting what facts she could from the rubble of rumour. Junkion may have been a hub for space trash and TV broadcasts, but it did intercept a great deal of news too. It was the lure of Terran music and curiosity about her cousins from Cybertron that led her to decide to go to Earth. Also apparently the Decepticons had a pretty sweet ride going by the holographs she saw and that just added oil to the corundum cake. The idea of a civil war continuing for so ridiculously long also piqued her interest. She really wanted to know why. And so she hitchhiked once more to a little blue green planet whose native sentient species were both culturally and technologically phenomenally active in hunt of the Bad Boys who had the cooler spaceship.
Personality: Pan is the sort of bot who sees life as some great game, unlike some though she plays for fun, not to win. If others happen to lose along the way, that’s not her problem. She is a femme who follows her whims and desires, who does her best to do whatever she wants. Pan floats between relaxed and cruisy to positively boisterous, unruly and rambunctious. She can also be overly friendly, almost to the point of annoyance. To this she is not quite oblivious but it can be a close thing.
Pan’s first true love is music, currently hard rock and heavy metal from Terran culture. She loves anything she can head-bang to. Pan also loves to party hard and explore new cultures. Her other hard-core interests include Roller Derbys – of which she is a very active participant, and motor racing – of which she is just a huge fan. She is also rather keen on violent sports with their raw primal energy.
Possibly Pan’s biggest redeeming feature is her engineering expertise and utter enjoyment of a challenge. Part of her Junkion heritage for mechanical aptitude, Pan is quite at home and relaxed with a datadisk of schematics, a sonic spanner in hand and a planet load of raw materials to work with.
Pan has very little in the way of a moral compass. She feel little inclination to help others unless she can gain from the act, but nor does she possess a cruel nature. This is only in part due to her own physically durability making her somewhat nonchalant towards the lives of others. Pan tends not to steal or cheat, preferring to get what she wants through more enduring honest means. Her word is usually good, as are her promises and threats.
She sides with the Might makes right philosophy and does not believe in true altruism. In rebellion to her fellow Junkions who prefer to voyeuristically sit back and watch the galaxy revolve without them, Pan desires to act and tell her own stories, or at the very least attend live performances. In this she has absolute respect for those who act upon and follow their own dreams – the plotters and schemers. Nine times out of ten, Pan will side with the villain who spent so much effort to achieve their narcissistic goal, as opposed to the heroes who merely react to thwart someone else’s ambition. Though she has very little confirmed information on the Autobots and Decepticons, what she has worked out is that the former represent old Authority clinging to long lost stability while the latter are those who do what they want because they can. Pan can be a little misguided but she enjoys the road less travelled.
Likes: Earth culture, loud music played loud, roller derbys, violent sports, motor sports, kaiju movies, engineering challenges, partying, explosions, fire, being cheeky.
Dislikes: Unintelligible lyrics i.e mumble rappers, kill joys, buzz kills, dead beats, libraries, deadlines and tight schedules, any authority that bans Cybertronians because of some silly war she had no part in and wont let her planet-side for uber leet concerts.
Strengths/Weapons:
Die Hard, With a vengeance: Like all Junkions, Pan has the ability to survive dismemberment, injuries that might be lethal for others and severe damage. As long as components are put back together, she can heal nearly any injury. Components readily realign themselves due to the use of quantum entanglement in Junkion nanites. These same nanites are able to strip and deposit elements and compounds at an almost molecular level at an extremely high rate. This allows the nanites to utilize nearly any material resource with the right composition i.e. elements or compounds, to repair damaged components. For example, her nanites could strip stainless steel screws for chromium. Pan can also replace completely lost components with scavenged parts, cog for a cog, arm for an arm, with no rejection issues. Clean meshing of existing and new components to full structural integrity can take some time, a cog, if specs are wildly different like size and number of teeth, would take a day. If Pan was to transplant an arm with a clone, the new arm connection would be perfect in a minute, while a swap with another bike former might take an hour or more to achieve perfect meshing depending on socket compatibility. On the planet Junk, replacement parts of the right specifications were abundant, anywhere else not so much.
At times when damage does not involve lost material, like a simple crack in the armor, the repairs take mere minutes to a few hours to heal.
Pan can completely regrow a missing component or even limbs. With a sufficient source of materials to ingest of the right molecular composition and free flowing energon, Pan could grow a new cog in about a two years, whereas an arm would take about 20 years. The less energy Pan has the slower the process. Pan won’t die of energy loss when healing because the healing would stop first. An optimum situation would see her sipping powdered elements and compounds in an oil based solution while chugging back energon cubes daily.
Pan Still feels pain like any other Cybertronian but she is very stoic. Physically her body reacts to damage just like anyone else; psychologically she does not suffer shock due heavy trauma and has a very high pain threshold.
There are still plenty of ways to bypass this healing, immediately fatal damage of the spark or brain module will result in death. Pan can survive decapitation as long as spark and brain module are both still intact. Near total destruction of the body will also result in death if enough ancillary systems are destroyed such that healing will never overcome the loss.
Mad Max: Pan was originally built to drive happily on trash and detritus on the Planet of Junk. Despite the cruising nature of her altmode, she can extend the suspension to give greater ground clearance and cornering angle. Additionally her tires have small extendable mal-metal studs for extra traction in certain terrains. In her alt mode, her speeds tops out at a lazy 250 kph. Pan can also transform and roll about on two wheels in her robot mode. She can move unpowered like a human inline-skater or she can put the power down and sprint at 150 kph. Pan is far more likely to roll around than actually walk. This is under optimum conditions and just like anyone else, she has to slow down and watch where she put her peddes when the going gets rough. At best her alt can only lean 40 degrees which does limit her cornering speed. She can actually lean much further in her robot mode and corner faster but with less stability.
The good touch: For situations requiring the melee touch, Pan is able to use her fists with retractable knuckle spikes to good effect. Her skill is that of an amateur boxer or street fighter, so she can hold her own in a fight to some degree.
This is my Boom Stick: Clipped on to Pan’s back is her ranged defence. Pan has a double barrel shotgun formed of her alt mode’s tail pipes. It fires compressed charges of plasma gas that explosively expands on impact. This can knock a medium opponent down or cause larger enemies to stumble back without dealing much damage. Only at absolute point blank range will it penetrate medium armor and hurt an opponent much. The shotgun can fire twice before recharging itself from its own power pack. A single charge takes about 15 seconds to build up. Maximum range is only 200 meters and has a 50% chance to hit a medium size target at 100 meters under optimum conditions.
Let there be light!: Pan's purple optic band is equipped with auto darkening for use in welding. This also makes her immune to flash blinding.
Weaknesses:
T’is but a scratch: Physically, Pan is about as damage resistant as a wet bus ticket as her armor is for the most part cybertronium foil thin. Only her forearms, boots and upper torso can stand up to more than a spit-ball. Her ability to keep going despite any damage is what separates her from the dead. A lucky headshot will see her as dead as anyone else.
It came from outer space: While Earth still has all the elements a healing Junkion needs, a scarcity of the right ones, and a shortage of freely available replacement parts limits Pan’s ability to repair damage to what she might scavenge or barter for.
Two left feet: If Pan replaced damaged components with parts that don’t meet her original specs, the new part won’t always mesh perfectly. A mismatched T Cog would put extra stress on other systems leading to poorer performance. A mismatched arm would have reduced strength at the connection and reduced dexterity.
Stings like a moth: Pan punches at her weight level, which isn’t very much and her gun have little ability to penetrate armor.
Say what?!: Like most of her ilk, Pan’s natural penchant for talking in TV quotes and music lyrics can really grate on nerves. She plays it down a little because of her dislike for certain aspects of Junkion culture.
Noob!: While pan has participated in bar fights, street fights, numerous punch ups and small scale battles, she is a novice when it comes to straight up warfare. She has little tactical or strategic knowledge or experience. Pan is not so stupid to leave herself in a situation where spark extinction is a real possibility however.
It’s cold outside: Pan’s light frame has a large surface area to mass ratio. If she’s not burning energon in activities, she cools down fast. She will lock up in sub-zero temperatures much faster than most.
Front wheel, back wheel, what?!: Pan’s alt mode’s front wheel which floats on her back in root mode can be lost. Being held in place by magnetism, the wheel can be physically removed with only about half the force required to lift Pan off the floor. A sufficiently strong magnetic pulse could viably dislodge the wheel. For sheer practicality around ferrous metals or other magnetically sensitive items, Pan can just turn off the magnets and put the wheel down. She has never ever forgotten to retrieve it. Despite her whimsical nature, Pan has zero inclination to throw her wheel around like some hula hoop or chakram for the fear of losing it this way.
Special Skills:
Know how, Can do: Pan is an exemplary mechanic, skater, and air guitarist. Her singing isn’t half bad thanks to an autotune algorithm. She's also a reasonable dancer but hardly graceful, simple break dancing sure, ballroom dancing not so much.
Specifically as a Mechanic, Pan has trained and practiced as a Starship Mechanic. She is competent enough to repair and maintain most designs currently in use. Due to the overlap of several engineering fields, eg. electrical, mechanical and civil, Pan is able to apply herself to most engineering fields to varying degrees of competence. Starship design is an order of magnitude above her processing power however. It's also not uncommon that Pan will have to fall back on operational manuals and various data specs for each individual Ship that she has to work on.
