Name: Drift (Previously, Deadlock)
Age: Never kept track (Around early 30s in human probably)
Gender: Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Autobots (Previously, Deceptions)
Original Occupation: Thief/Mercenary
Occupation/Specialization: Warrior/Sword Master
Appearance: Drift comes up to about Megatron's chest in height and his frame is that of a sleek racer. A build type that causes a tire to be located on both of his arms and legs. His optics are bright blue like most Autobots though his helm is a little more stylized than others. He has a fore helm light in a shape that almost appears to be a crest of some sort. His cheek plates are protected on both sides by a set of small duel lights. However, the feature most would remember about his helm would be the twin finials that begin at his temples and flick back almost like a pair of turbofox ears. Drift's primary armor colors are white, red and black. However he does have several lights in aesthetically pleasing locations that glow gold. A combination that is truly striking on his highly angled body.
At first glance he would appear a little intimidating, that fact could be contributed to the two swords on his hips and the great sword that is always connected to his back. Oddly enough, there is not a gun in sight. If one could get past the excess of weaponry, they would notice the almost... overly friendly smile that is always plastered to the mech's face plate. The fangs in that smile aren't so spooky once you know him!
Altmode: Quimera AEDC
Pertinent History: Drift was around before the war, forged from Rodion, though he was never one of the privileged class. He lived with the guttermechs and leakers, all manner of Cybertron's criminals and killers in the Dead End. This was where Drift called home. Stealing energon just to survive, and taking circuit boosters to pass the time. During one especially hard drug trip he was rescued from near death by a mysterious wandering mech who took him to a secret clinic to set himself out straight. Before he was released from the clinic, the main medic told him that he could just tell Drift was destined for something special...
Shortly after he ran into Gasket- a good-natured mech who took him in and made him a part of a little mismatched family. It was thanks to Gasket that Drift learned that life was more than suffering, and just looking out for yourself.
A vorn later during an incident that occurred and offlined Gasket, Drift lost himself in a rage and killed several Autobot officers of the law. This was his first official act of violence, which showed him he had a talent for this horrible sort of thing.
His knack for violence attracted the attention of the Dead End's high rollers, who employed him in mark missions and trained him to be a lethal assassin. While dealing with this group, Drift's optics were opened to the corruption in the senate.
While attending a rally talk about equality, Drift was singled out and asked in front of the crowd if he would join the Decepticon cause. Drift agreed, and was given the new name of Deadlock.
Deadlock rose to become second in command of Turmoil and his group, gaining a frightening reputation among Autobots and Decepticons alike for being a ruthless killer. However, after an argument with one of his battalion which lead to their death, he was trapped by his fellow Decepticons and set up for execution.
Deadlock escaped in a small ship and crash-landed on a nearby planet, where he met Wing and the Circle of Light. Though the city did not trust a Decepticon, Wing bonded with Deadlock after what was initially a very rough start. Going behind the leader's back, Wing had Deadlock reconstructed in order to repair the large amount of damage he took during the crash and resulting battle with a rough and tumble group on the surface of the planet. Through his bond with Wing, Deadlock once again found himself and became Drift.
In a conflict involving slavers, Wing was killed, but Drift managed to save the Crystal City with the Circle of Light's help. Seeing his hard work and effort to support them, they gave Wing's great sword to him as well as their blessing.
After leaving the city and returning the slaves, Drift set off in an attempt to make a difference in the civil war and make amends with himself for all the wrong doing he had done in his past. One of his first encounters with an Autobot happened when he went to free a group of them who were captured on a Decepticon ship that he had previously served aboard. He used his stealth skills to sneak on board, but his quiet plan was ruined when the wreckers blasted their way on board. When Drift jumped in to assist them, he piqued the interest of a few of the Autobots. A ship wide battle occurred which resulted in the destruction of the ship, but the Autobots and Drift were able to make it to safety in time.
It was after this event that he was invited to join the unit he had just assisted as a fully fledged Autobot. Drift accepted and slowly adjusted to his new unit. They had many adventures together, from code hacking, to double agents and even dealing with a nuclear bomb or two. With a few set backs, everything seemed to be working out for the better.
That was until a fateful encounter occurred where Drift lost control of himself. He began to rattle off gibberish and attack his comrades. The other Autobots attempted to restrain him, but Drift was able to use his final bit of free will to impale himself with one of his own blades, putting an end to the madness. Thankfully he was able to survive the ordeal, and it would lead to the awakening of his spiritual side.
Shortly after he was back on his own two legs again, he was told about a route to Cyberutopia, from a mech who had supposedly been there. Drift was obsessed with the idea that this mech was correct and would lead them to Cyberutopia. While many attempted to dissuade him from the idea and tell him that the Knights of Cybertron and their home world never existed, he paid them no mind and kept to his beliefs. He had heard of the knights from others in the crystal city. He was convinced it was real. Drift's passion later inspired others he spoke with, and soon they agreed to assemble a team to find the knights. With that strange mech as their captain.
However, shortly after the ship and its passengers took off, there was a large explosion that caused their vessel to shoot off into space. During this time, the craft was sucked into some kind of worm hole they had never seen before. When they were spit out onto the other side, everyone was told to take separate escape shuttles and abandon the ship. Drift did just that, barely making it in time before their makeshift home blew up into a million pieces. The resulting explosion knocked Drift's shuttle off course and offlined his processor.
He wandered in space for a substantial period of time before he was able to reboot. The shuttle had lost its galaxy positioning system, which left Drift stranded with no idea where he was. In an attempt to contact any other Autobots, he caught what he thought might have been a signal from a nearby planet called: Earth.
During his descent onto the world, he was attacked by a scouting group of vehicons. The cons were able to disable his engines and send him crashing to a sandy part of the planets surface. A battle ensued the moment he opened the cockpit. Luckily Drift was able to dispatch the offending vehicons, but he was now stranded on the foreign planet. With the ships communications system shot, he had no other choice but to hope those earlier signals were true and attempt to find signs of other cybertronians.
Personality: Overall, Drift comes off as a strong and positive figure. He is seen as spiritual at times, often giving his thoughts on the Knights of Cybertron, and practicing meditation.
Though he is still not trusted by many he comes across, he tries to help them out in any way he can. Drift is a friend for life, sacrificing his shanix as well as his own happiness at times in order to please an ally. He possesses a soft spark and an open processor, he is always willing to explore and learn about things he previously did not understand.
Confident, fun-loving, honorable and selfless are just a few words to describe him. Though under his radiant exterior still lurks a mech who is struggling to find himself. Frequently he wonders if Drift or Deadlock is his true self.
The years he spent as a Deception, committing horrible acts, weighs heavy on his processor at all times. Drift's motivation comes from his desire to put the past as far behind him as possible and finally do something good for their race. He will use all the weapons at his disposal to carve out a bright future for himself and those he cares about.
Likes:
Quiet places to meditate, combat practice in the mornings, light-hearted atmosphere, time with friends, observing interactions.
Dislikes:
The war, being reminded of the Dead End, running into any Deception who he once worked with, being treated with mistrust by his faction, small white medical rooms.
Strengths/Weapons:
Twin blades: Two blades made of the toughest metal Cybertron has to offer. They are able to cut through medium armor, and even heavy armor when enough pressure is applied to them.
Wing's Great Sword: An extremely powerful sword that draws power from Drift's spark through a connection of his faith, thanks to a mysterious crystal located at the hilt. The stronger the faith, the more energy the weapon has. For how long Drift has been carrying this sword, it is more like a precious memento to him than an actual weapon. It would only ever be used as a last resort, because he does not wish to damage Wing's blade. The fact it draws power from one's spark also makes it extremely dangerous to wield for long periods of time. Even a with a short usage, it would require Drift to recharge for at least a cycle or two. With extended use, it could put a mech in the medbay, or easily snuff out even the strongest of sparks.
Deadly hand-to-hand combat: From his days as a gutter mech, he learned to defend himself without the use of weapons. His training with Wing was also weaponless, which lead to better understanding when reading an enemies moves before they make them.
Speedster Frame: Drift makes use of his lean frame- being trained as an assassin, it taught him how to move with the grace and speed of a deadly warrior.
Heightened Perception: With the use of meditation, Drift has been able to get a firm grip on his mental processes. He can analyze a situation, or being, a little faster than the average cybertronian. This can come in handy when avoiding sticky situations.
Charisma +1: Though some can find his positive attitude annoying, others would find Drift a welcomed presence. That is, if they did not have a problem with is ex-con status. He possesses a great amount of charm to him.
Of course.. I listen to you!: Drift makes sure he is always listening when someone is speaking to him. He pays great attention to the words coming from another mech's mouth, even if the other is just rambling. But sometimes, that attention pays off later.
Weaknesses:
Loyalty: Could be seen as a strength or a weakness, but his loyalty for his friends runs deep. So deep that he would sacrifice himself to save them in a spark beat.
Traitor: Because of his faction change, he is hated by most Deceptions and mistrusted deeply by many of the Autobots he works alongside. This can lead to him missing out on valuable information or bonds with others. This fact weighs heavily on his thoughts at all times.
Self doubt: At times others can mess with is processor, which leads to him reliving old memories and implanting seeds of doubt about his current life path. This can cause him to hesitate or make choices he usually would not make.
Blasters? Not my thing.: Deadlock's preferred weapons were guns. Since leaving that life behind him, Drift has chosen to only stick to the blades from the Crystal City. Its all about reinventing yourself.
Reserves low: While Drift may be fast, his body goes through energon at a staggering rate when he is engaged in full frame activities for too long. Its hard to keep his tank full.
Extra passenger: Drift's alt mode has no way for him to carry his great sword on the body of the vehicle. When transforming, he has to take a bit longer than most. Its hard to move such a large sword into the passenger seat. Have to make sure that baby is strapped in tight!
Special Skills:
Adaptation: From living in the Dead End, Drift learned how to make a little bit of fuel last much longer than it should, basic field medic knowledge, and quick thinking. When placed into a new environment he is quick to learn the terrain and best tactical advantage spots.
One shot, one kill: Though he has not touched a gun since his days as Deadlock, he still retains the skills he learned all those vorns ago. He is able to disassemble a weapon, clean it, and put it back together as well as any sharp shooter can. Just because he can however, does not mean he will. Its a personal oath he imposed upon himself. If its needed, he will share his knowledge, but never shoot the weapon.
Cha-ching baby: Though it may not be a skill, Drift has retained the shanix he had while being a mercenary, and then on. That is to say, 'You need a new space ship? Let's go get one!'
