Name: Foxface
Age: Created during the Golden Age
Gender: Referred to as 'she', only because her first pretender form on Earth was a woman.
Species: Cybertronian; Mini-Con; Pretender
Faction: Neutral
Occupation/Specialization: Pretender, cryptographer, partly code-writer
Appearance/Altmode: Lanky and small is the best description of Fox. Her legs are multi-jointed and makes up most of her height, a long, slim torso, neck and head making the last part. Her limbs are thin, but strong enough to support her and some weight without problems. A few Energon lines runs outside her frame, due to lack of space inside it, especially around her joints. A large line is running on her back, starting around the middle as two lines, becoming a single one very fast and then it goes straight up to her helm. Some parts of her hydraulics are also visible. Over-all her design is rather plain, leaving little to no unique features. It's made up of a lot of smaller piece and it's hard to find a piece of metal on her that is bigger than her palm, even when it comes to her torso, legs and arms. Her head is narrow and not very human-like as many others are. She has no 'nose', only optics, eye ridges and a mouth. Her optics are vivid orange, slightly triangular and large for someone her size, and together with her plain design, it gives her a slightly sparklingish look. Her color is black, highlighted by the exposed Energon lines which are glowing with the same vivid orange as her optics. A few parts of her, like her face, sport a slightly lighter color than the rest, but over-all she is black, not blackish grey.
When it comes to height, she’s around as high as Rattrap, maybe a little bit higher.
Her 'alt-form' varies greatly and there's nothing she can't mimic, it’s only a matter of size. Large hors-es(+16hh) and up are too big for her, she just can’t fill their mass, and smaller dog breeds are too small; she has a limit for how small she can become. Humans are around the size she prefers. Birds are out of the question, but she could probably become an ostrich if needed… but that’s highly unlikely to ever be needed. Unlike others she can remember multiple forms at once, enabling her to shift through forms she hasn't used in ages. She can even redesign her alt-form or create new ones if she has to, they always based on something though. She can't just make something up out of nowhere.
History:
Foxface was created back during the Golden Age. As a Pretender, she was a vital part of the spacebridge program, but she was still expendable in many ways. She was unique though, being the first one to have a successful system that made an alternate fuel without clocking her own systems after some time. Her creator, a brilliant, but sadly paranoid inventor, gave her no name, but merely handed her over to the program when she had been sparked, scared of anyone using her against him, should he grow attached to her. She was given the name PCS-048, as she was not believed to live for long. Pretenders in generally didn’t live long by the start of the program, most having difficulty keeping the trust with those they were designed to mimic. That most colonies was made with force and only later were there time for being allies probably had a part in the distrust. Fox and others capable of producing fuel themselves changed this over time, being able to stay longer with the species, often creating mutual trust between cybertronians and those that already inhabited the planets.
In her first vorns, Fox happily worked as a liaison for the project, being transferred to a new colony or planet every time she had finished something. When arriving to a colony on the planet Pecoran, nothing seemed different from what she had done before, but some things would soon change. Not only were the species there extremely aggressive, but they showed no lust for even talking with Pretenders. When she was sent to try, as others had sadly failed, she was not just asked to leave, but hunted away. This was the first time she had ever encountered such behavior and she just ran as fast as she could, not knowing what else to do. When she finally got away, slightly damaged and shaken, the love she had felt for being a liaison had disappeared a bit. Now, it wasn’t just meeting new species, it was potentially death every time she met new species. She wasn’t fond of the thought, but none the less, she continued to be a liaison for the rest of the Golden Age, but also started trying new things, in those writing coding and decrypting. She was never allowed to focus a lot on it though, thus not making it far back in those fields then. During this time, after having run from several species, also some which she wasn’t meant to interact with; another Pretender came up with the name Foxface. It was the first nickname that ever stuck and since then, she has always been called it by those she knew more than just name of.
When the spacebridge programs ended, Pretenders in some ways did the same. No new ones were sparked and there hadn’t even been sparked new ones for a while. Most stayed away, deciding to live in the far away colonies, the rest staying on Cybertron. Fox was among those on Cybertron and she quickly became something special in her cohort of Pretenders. Not many liked the subclass and most honestly avoided them, having a hard time seeing how something that couldn’t transform to anything of real use, could be useful in any way. Fox managed to find work with decrypting and translating documents from the far away colonies and planets, using what she earned there to help her cohort survive. She mattered in the group she worked with and over time she even changed their look on Pretenders, but most still looked down at them. The Caste System took it’s tall on the Pretenders, replacing those with jobs with others that were, as they said, ‘more suited for the task’. Everyone knew it wasn’t true, but merely a way of getting rid of the Pretenders; they were after all a left over from the Golden Age that most wanted gone. Pretenders followed Megatron’s uprising from a distance, never really becoming a part of that or those that believed in Orion Pax, but they did discuss it to great extents, using their knowledge of other worlds as reference.
When the war broke out, the tight bonds between Pretender cohorts grew stronger as their number became smaller. No side wished to have their help, as they were of no use in war, especially the small ones. Too fragile to fight in as frontfighters and incapable of linking up with weapons, thus they could not even help from a distance. Many Pretenders were shot without mercy, others torn apart for the fun of it, but some survived because many saw shooting them as a waste of good Energon. Those that were not killed quickly left the planet in whatever way they could, but Fox stayed together with others that had become accepted by cybertronians, even if only by those they worked with. In the end though, even they had to leave and they did when the core went dark with the help of a neutral captain. By this time, only four Pretenders were known to still be alive; Foxface and one from her cohort among those.
Their calm time in space did not last long. The neutral captain was believed to be shipping Energon, it wasn’t true, but another group of neutrals thought it were. The ship Fox was with was attacked, quickly and without mercy, killing one Pretender and two of the captain’s crew. They survived the attack, but the ship was left badly damaged and they almost didn’t make it to their destination; a neutral base. Here they managed to get their ship repaired so that they could continue. They did so, covering a big part of the galaxy, before coming to the desperate point where they had to shut down the ships engine in order to have enough Energon. Fox could easily survive, but the others couldn’t. Some decided to go into stasis, others staying awake and as alert as possible. Another Pretender went offline during this time, followed by a crewmember and then lastly the last of Foxface’s cohort, leaving Fox with the captain and five other crew members. Everyone decided to go into stasis, hoping that they would somehow make it to a safe place before the last amount of Energon disappeared.
When Foxface finally reactivated, she found herself alone. They had crash-landed, where she did not know, but it was in a desert, and the crewmembers had died in the crash or maybe before from the lack of Energon, she wasn’t really sure. She found the captain outside the ship, half dead, protectively holding a small memory unit. He made her promise not to show it to anyone; not Optimus Prime, not Megatron, no one at all, no matter how much she trusted the person. After she promised, he ordered her to get the pit out of the area as he wished to blow the ship, himself and the dead crewmembers to pieces. She did as he said, even though she did not wish to leave him like that, and as soon as she had made distance between herself and the ship, the ship exploded inwards. Everything in the area got sucked inwards, the sand around too, burying the ship and all evidence of it.
Later, Fox encountered humans and hid among them, hoping to start a new life. She found it easy to be-come a human, so to speak; they were so much like cybertronians, although rather much behind in tech-nology. Over the years, many years, she has hid as many different persons, although she has always kept herself out of the spotlight, keeping clean records and never doing anything to attract unneeded attention.
Personality:
Fox has a personality which honestly seems to be a mess of ages. From time to time she may seem old, wise in a way, one that has seen more than many, but a second later she might be acting like someone who was sparked just yesterday. She doesn't have a split personality; she just has a hard time acting only one way. Pretending to be many different species makes it hard to be only one way, even when you're not pretending. You could say that she don't know who she is, but she is very aware of who she is, she just can't figure out how she is. As said, one day she might be showing you more curiosity than a sparkling would, but the next she will be sitting, deep in some work, not showing any want of even looking at you. Most of the time though, she is filled with curiosity about nearly any subject and she can wait more than a lifetime, if she may just witness that one thing that caught her optic a moment ago.
While she is not afraid of asking for anything or speaking with anyone, Fox isn't that fond of having long conversations, unless it has a meaning to it. Gossiping is for her, not a reason for talking, but just a waste of time, even if she cares for the one the gossip is about. She is fond of listening to others, especially if they have some interesting history or information to tell. Most stories will interest her, even if it to others seems boring, because she rarely cares for how exciting it is. For her it's all about it being something she hasn't heard before and that others are willing to share the story with her. She doesn't crave others to speak though and she can hold her own part of a conversation.
It could seem odd for someone like Foxface to be very optimistic about things, but she is. It’s rare that she cannot find something good in what has happened, although she struggles with finding the good thing in the war. The war has put its mark on her, as it has on everyone, but she has even gone to the extent of hiding away certain memories. She still have them, she just won't remember them unless she specifically search for them. While optimistic, she isn't the giggling 'Everyday is Happy day'-type, but more the one who tries to find at least that one little, good thing that can cheer you up about something.
Coward is a harsh word, even if using it about Fox. While she is many times the first to run, she has a good reason. She fragile and doesn't have the frame to play the big hero, therefore she's the first one to run. In need of it, she can 'man it up' and do daring stuff, but she prefers helping from the site, any day of the week. Sitting around, doing the stuff she's good at or being a sort-of liaison between species are by far her favorite thing to do.
She isn’t the one cursing a lot, but in need of cursing, she will often use words from far-away worlds, which makes her cursing somewhat interesting to listen to. Some of the words might sound beautiful, while others will make you puzzled about how she can even pronouns them. Even the usual ‘Scrap’ or ‘Frag’ is often replaced by more colorful words.
Likes:
Organic creatures, open space, being around others without actually speaking to them, other cultures, space travel, history (any kind) and when it's quiet, but not silent.
Dislikes:
Being alone, being center of everyone's attention, doing something with no other purpose than doing it and loud noises with no fragging purpose. Generally she dislike things with no purpose.
Strengths/Weapons:
- Energon blades: Small, slim and somewhat short, these blades are by no means made for long fights where you have to use them as protection. Shortly said, they’re made for hit and run situations, although if she gets the chance to keep on stabbing or cutting, she can continue and the blades will be just fine. They have a dark middle, which is in no way dangerous; it’s the orange edges you have to look out for. One blade is attached on each of her wrists and blend in with her frame, until activated and pushed forward, where they’ll get the characteristic, vivid orange color that Fox has in other places.
- Mini EMP-mines: These mines are indeed mini, but don’t underestimate them. While they only work if place directly on something, they do give a nasty little effect on someone’s systems. They don’t last long, but if placed right, they will make a direct shutdown of a cybertronian’s systems for around 11.5 nano-kliks, which is more than enough for Fox to get away. If not placed perfectly, they are most likely just going to mess with the sensors of the one effected, might make someone blind for a few seconds or something like that. Don’t expect to be out of the game for multiple kliks, no matter where they’re placed.
Weaknesses:
- Fragile: As most other Pretenders she is made out of a softer and much more fragile metal than other cybertronians. It gives very little protection and one good hit might very well offline her, if she's hit in a sensitive area like the head or chest. So don't count on her protecting anything by being a shield.
- No knight in shining armor: She isn't the bravest and is most likely going to flee if she meets a threat. She won't flee from everything though and might actually find some things not frightening when others believe they're deadly monsters. Let that be because of what she's seen as a Pretender. There are many scary things out there and she's seen many of them. Mostly though, she's getting the pit out of any place that's just slightly dangerous.
Special skills (that are not weapon related):
- Turbofox: Saying she's as fast as a Turbofox might be an overstatement, but she is very fast, at least compared to others when running on her pedes, even those much larger than her. Outrunning an alt-form though, ground and air, might be too much.
- Small, little thing: Not the smallest, but she is indeed small in mass. Put it together with her flexibility and you got one hard thing to catch, seeing as she can twist herself out of almost anything.
- Natural talent: While not made to be a cryptograph or code-writer, Fox has shown an almost natural talent for it. She finds it rather easy to understand and has strange ways of decrypting things, some of them not making any sense at all, until she gives the result. Don't ask how she got it though; you'll just end up puzzle. Being able to decrypt, encrypt and code things doesn't make you a hacker though, and she is very useless when it comes to hacking something.
Extra Info:
- Nickname: Foxface isn't her real name, it's PCS-048, which was the short form of 'Pretender - Class; Small - ID: 048'. It took a while before she was called Foxface, mainly because no one really cared if the Pretenders got names. The name came since some said she was as fast as a Turbofox. The name is not official, thus not existing in any database or documents; there she is still PCS-048. She always presents herself as Foxface, but doesn't lie about it being her real name.
- Alternate fuel: Fox runs on a different fuel than Energon. It doesn't have an official name, as it’s never been used by more than 0.5% of the cybertronian population. You could say that most cybertronians are like cars running on gas and those running on the alternate fuel are electric cars. They do not actually run on electricity, but their systems don’t burn fuel, thus they do not need new on a daily basis. Basically it runs on modified type of Energon, which can be reused many times by ‘recharging’ it through a complicated process where sunlight or another strong energy sources' energy is bound in the liquid and then sent through the systems again where it will give off the energy. In a way it’s like red blood cells transporting oxygen through a human’s body. The liquid gets worn though and will have to be replaced from time to time, which is the only time Fox needs good grade Energon. She is capable of transforming it into the needed liquid. The old liquid is then over time taken out and the new put in, which is going on all the time. In case there is no energy source, she is capable of taking out the energy of low grades of Energon, but it’s not as giving and gives the problem of getting rid of the parts of the Energon she cannot use. The modified systems cannot hold to the energy in high grade or purified Energon; it is most likely going to cause an overload, since the systems cannot hold so much energy at one time, thus probably killing the Pretender in question.
Sample RP (only for first accepted characters):
“How much do we have left?”
The question never changed, even if no one asked it, everyone knew everybody thought about it. It was that little thing that never left your mind, but kept on, no matter what you did. Even Foxface, one capable of running on very low grades of Energon always thought about it. It was almost scary how you never forgot it. Now it had been asked though and Fox wasn’t sure about what to answer. Tell the truth or keep the others happy?
“Enough I think, at least to last for a while more, we just need to cut our…” Fox said and carefully gestured with her hands, but quickly stopped, startled when Windraider cut in. “We’re NOT cutting down again. Just because you can run on nothing, doesn’t mean we can!” He close to yelled at Fox and she backed away, careful not to seem scared, but merely not up for fighting. Her spark dropped when he walked over to her and almost loomed over her; he was so large compared to her and even though he was often friendly as the others, he always had an angry field; a field that just waited for a reason to turn very ugly.
“I… I didn’t mean it like that, I know you can’t, I just think we might be able to cut down somewhere, not necessarily our own rations” she said in an attempt to calm the large mech. She didn’t really believe it would work though and she had already opened a comm.link to the captain; ::Captain? I… would you please come down here? Please?::. The air around them heated up a bit, probably because both her and his systems were working in high gears, for very different reasons, and she could swear she could hear weaponssytems wiring to life. Wait… Weaponssytems?!
