Name: Jackson "Jack" Darby
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Faction: Autobot Sympathizer
Occupation/Specialization: Student, Drive-through cashier at KO Burger.
Appearance: Jack stands at about average height for a sixteen-year old with a lanky build that makes him look a little taller than he actually is. The teen has an average complexion, and has his mother's gray eyes and black hair. His hair is a shade darker than his mother's, and parts on the same side, but unlike her all he seems to do with it is run a comb through it giving him a slightly unkempt look. The one thing he hasn't inherited from her is his facial structure. Jack has a narrow face with sharp features, traits he inherited elsewhere.
As far as fashion is concerned Jack has what is known as a "Doug Funny closet". If you were to open up his closet you would find pretty much the the exact same thing as he always wears, dark short-sleeve shirts, light long-sleeved shirts, and blue jeans. Yes he has a few items that he wears on occasion, but for the most part he can be found wearing his sneakers, jeans, and two shirts... even with he Nevada heat! Overall he looks rather bland and unassuming, but that's just the way he likes it.
History: Jackson Darby has had a bit of a rough life that he'd rather not talk about. His father left the picture shortly before he went into his teens, and he is very well aware of how young his mom looks. Both subjects had caused him to get into a few school yard fights back in the day before the gravity of the situation finally weighed down on him. Jack grew up quick over the years seemingly breezing through the supposed rebellious teenaged years. For the most part he did his best to do well in school, not cause any trouble, and picked up a part-time job as soon he could to help with things at home. Since then he has been a... productive member of the KO Burger family.
As average and uneventful of a life Jack tried to leave things got really interesting one day when he found a particular blue motorcycle parked outside of KO Burger when he was getting off shift. It looked very similar to one Jack was saving up for, one of the few things he indulged in, and everything would have been fine if a certain cheerleader hadn't caught him fawning over the bike. The awkward situation got quite a bit more awkward when the motorcycle came to life and took off without him doing anything... and without him wearing a helmet no less. A short chase would lead to a drainage canal where Jack would meet Raf Esquivel and witness three Autobots kick the scrap out of some vehicons. Something that he wasn't too thrilled about. Jack wanted nothing to do with the giant robot fight club, and was willing to pretend nothing happened when Arcee showed up the next day to take him to Autobot HQ. He may have gotten away with it too if it weren't for a meddling Miko Nakadai who happened upon the conversation.
Jack was able to convince his mom that he had bought a used motorcycle, and that he intended to be very safe and responsible with it. Not once mentioning that Arcee was his alien robot guardian. Jack initially flipped back and forth with his support for the Autobots during the first Space Bridge incident, wanting nothing to do with them after paying a visit to the Nemesis, but was ultimately talked into returning by Arcee. To her credit though, Miko had tried to do the same. Since then he has been one of the human members of Team Prime.
During a transition period where the three kids and the Autobots were learning to coexist, Ratchet ended up taking over his science-fair project and built him a hi-tech engine. Whether or not this violated the Tyrest Accord, he doesn't know. After that he had to help deal with the base being invaded by a swarm of scraplets. His next big adventure involved the Autobots first meeting with Mech. Jack and Miko used the ground bridge to board a moving train and protect a nuclear device from being taken by the shady organization. His next adventure after that was thankfully only minor and involved stealing something from a museum. Yes... that had become considered a light adventure by now.
It wasn't too long after that when Jack found himself doing the stupidest thing he had done in his entire life, street racing to impress a girl. The girl in question was Sierra, head cheerleader, and member of his homeroom. Vince, the local bully, had goaded him into racing, and this is where things get a little odd. At first Jack was all for it, knowing Arcee could easily beat Vince, but she was against the race. Jack relented, saying she was correct, but after an insult by Vince suddenly she was willing to race, but only just this one time. Arcee easily won, but shot down Jack's suggestion that they give Sierra a ride home since she was there to watch the race. Word of the race spread through the school the next day, and once again Jack was challenged by Vince to another race, and varying circumstances caused him to agree to it. With Arcee unwilling to race again, Jack got Bumblebee to help him with this second race. Everything would have been fine if a certain Decepticon hadn't gotten involved in everything. Jack never told his mom about the racing, but somehow she ended up finding out about it down the road.
Sometime after that Jack and Arcee went on a scouting mission in the forests of Norther America for an Energon deposit that Ratchet had detected. The nice trip was quickly spoiled by the arrival of the Decepticon Airachnid, who had done horrible things to Arcee in the past, and now wanted his head. When Arcee was caught in a large mess of sticky webbing he was able to evade the evil spider-lady for a good deal of time, even going as far as blowing up her ship with what amounted to a piece of metal and a rock. Sure it was his pocket-knife and a fire-starter, but flint is a mineral! As horrible of an event it was, it did bring Jack and Arcee closer together. He was promoted from youthful ward to junior partner.
Since then things seem to go up and down with his life. Sometimes the all the action is going on elsewhere and he's only at the base to support everyone as best he can and other times he's right smack down in the middle of everything... like when he was trapped on a different plane of existence with a zombiefied Skyquake. Arguably the most important adventure Jack has had involved the return of Airachnid and Mech. While Jack had been grounded for various reasons (coughstreetracingcough) his mother, June, had been kidnapped. Jack and Arcee had to follow orders that Silas gave them to reach a set of coordinates where Arcee was incapacitated and Jack forced to play a very sick game of Airachnid's design. The rules were simple, if Jack could rescue his mom before midnight, they were free to go. The catch was he had roughly ten minutes to do it in. Despite the handicap he still found his mother in the time-limit, but not rescue her. Thankfully Arcee showed up to kick some serious aft and save the day! Afterwards he introduced his mom to everyone at outpost Omega-1.
Personality: Compared to other teenagers his age, Jack is reasonably mature and responsible. Given that Miko falls into his same age category, that's saying a lot. While a reluctant hero of sorts when first joining up with the Autobots, his experiences have made him grow into quite the courageous young man in similar fashion to a certain Autobot. That said, a certain cheerleader has more than once gotten him to do things against his better judgement, but he's slowly getting over that. His friends have gotten him out of his shy and awkward shell and experience that thing that's called fun.
Jack is very protective of Miko and Raf, treating them like younger siblings and always stepping in to help them when danger calls. For the most part he tends to be the one trying to keep Miko safe more often than Raf, though anyone who knows Miko would understand why. Jack and Arcee have gone through a lot together, going from guardian and ward to partners. Jack feels for Arcee like she's a cooler older sister to him. She shares a few personality traits he and his mom have, but has been shown to "let her hair down" from time to time so to speak. Optimus Prime is treated with lots of respect like most people give him, and rarely questions the leader's rules and orders. Most importantly Jack loves his mom, and will go to great lengths to keep her safe and happy.
Likes: The Autobots, motorcycles, his friends, playing harmonica, his mom, Arcee, working on his bike, Chinese take-out, candy bars.
Dislikes: The Decepticons, Vince, Miko running off into danger, Scraplets, MECH, Airachnid, anything to do with Dark Energon, street racing, being grounded, anything to do with his father.
Strengths/Weapons:
Smart, Adaptable, and Well Prepared: When the scrap hits the fan Jack can still remain pretty quick on the uptake, and quick to think in a tight situation. He's good at working with what he has, and if given enough time, can go into a situation with enough stuff to give himself an edge.
Courage: Jack has more than once willingly thrown himself into danger for the greater good, either to protect someone he cares about, or save the world. How many other kids his age would play decoy with evil giant robots?
Partners: Jack is partners with the Autobot Arcee, and hangs around her just about whenever he's not at school, or work. Generally the two aren't too far apart most of the time, and its hard to mess with one without getting the other involved somehow.
Weaknesses:
Squishy!: Jack is a human, and therefore a lot weaker and squishier than giant robots. The extent of his strength goes to the point of being able to open up really stuck jam jars, and small sharp metal objects are one of many of his weaknesses.
Dames: Jack is still only a teenaged boy. Occasionally girls can tend to cloud his judgement and make him agree and do stuff that he normally wouldn't do.
Special skills (that are not weapon related):
Mini-Medic: Given that his mom is the over protective type, and a nurse, Jack known how to use everything that can be found in the standard home First-Aid kit, and a little bit more.
Mini-Mechanic: Jack has had a fair amount of interest in mechanics for a long time, and has actually learned a few things from being around Ratchet for so long. Jack is pretty handy with Earth technology, and knows enough about Cybertronian techno-biology that he can help minor tasks such as running diagnostics and calibrations.
