<<For Dart, set in Week 2 before 'Where the Pavement Ends'>>
Of all the planetoids that the Nemesis had made orbit around, Earth was the most alien. The teeming cornucopia of organic lifeforms, from squirming mulch on vents in the deepest oceans to wandering birds that landed only annually, was a constant reminder of the world's strangeness. It made places such as this, the Atacama desert, an attractive site to visit.
One hundred kilometers south of Antofagasta, one could look in any direction and see no man, beast or vegetation. The humans had tested their primitive space exploration machines here, and failed to find signs of life in the ground with the instruments on board. Fairwinds had delighted at this, in the knowledge that there was somewhere on this planet that wasn't teeming with organic muck.
The desert was rich in numerous metallic and non-metallic minerals, but rarely mined by the Decepticons. Without cloud cover or light pollution, and at such a high altitude, Atacama was an astronomy hotspot that the Nemesis would struggle to remain unseen above. It was at noon, whilst the Nemesis cruised along the south-eastern border of Bolivia , that Megatron had taken flight and approached the desert through a groundbridge. On the other side, the Cybertonian jet had raced its shadow at low altitude for a kilometer before flipping to land.
Soundwave was standing by, groundbridge controls at the ready to bring the other to this private meeting. Dart was a field agent in the most traditional sense, spending very little time on the Nemesis and none in the presence of her most senior commanders. Megatron largely left the courier in Pyrotech's capable hands, but had determined now that her very specific skills could be turned to his own gain.
Megatron's comm. channel did not send a receiving ping ahead of words. It merely was to its receiver.
::Dart, I require you. Report status and location, and stand by for a groundbridge to my location.::
