//ooc// Set during the war, in the Sea of Rust.
He'd been left alone with his thoughts, his only friend the field that wavered around him. The still EMF flickered at the edges, flat and limp as the mech stared at the ground. Great, smoking clouds rose from a burning outpost — a place called Rustbucket, if he remembered right. A group of stranded Autobots had bunkered down there, and it hadn't been hard to root them out. Few things were when you could easily drag a screaming grounder from his hidey-hole.
The crying didn't bother him much. Autobranders were Autobranders, and these fraggers had been a glitch of a lot. Some said he was "soft", but a few were probably thinking twice after him yanking a fuel pump from someone's gut. The Decepticons had fought for only a few kliks, but those kliks were blurry ones — he only remembered bits and pieces. Faces, maybe, and a few words begging him to make it quick, to stop squeezing a Primefragger's face in and just crush his brain module already.
They didn't deserve it. He wished it was slower, that they hurt more and cried more. He wished the Prime had been there to see it, his little lackeys yipping like hurting turbofoxes, trying damn hard to get some pity. Pity didn't happen when they had done what they had done —
He clutched something in one servo. His fist clenched harder, the sharp edges of a Deceptibrand pushing into his fingers. It was a dark grey, dulled from its silver sheen due to war and the Sea of Rust. A shred of sky-blue plating was still stuck to the back of it, the last little part of a smarmy, smart-mouthed little minibot.
Scatter.
He leaned forward a little, and ended up lurching. His free hand caught him, digging into the plating around and over his good eye. He vented with a hitch, pulling his field close to his plates. His strange lips trembled, the mech clenching his teeth together so no sound came out. A wind began to whistle past him, carrying reddish, chemical-laced dust in trails and swirls from the ruins.
