Hazmat couldn't help but smile as Shale started to smile at the sight of the rust stick. As she began to recall the memories of how he began the attempt of making his own rust sticks, and the thought of it made him chuckle. "Yeah. Turned out getting the ingredients were the easy part since I could make them. Mixing them and cooking them... that was the hard part." he said as he used a digit of his servo to extract a rust stick for himself before closing the cylinder. It wasn't just the first batch of rust sticks that had been horrid. A few of his later batches were bad too. One batch had actually reacted with the high grade that the two of them had shared one day and they both had to have their tanks flushed. Shale didn't speak to him for a week for that one.
Also, Hazmat's boss Smokestack had a saying for Hazmat's cooking attempts: "Ashes to ashes, Rust to Rust, if Primus don't have you, the Scraplits must!" His cooking attempts weren't that bad. "At least I improved." Hazmat managed to say with a slightly bashful smile and listened to Shale laugh. That had to be one of the best sound he had heard in a long time. He found himself laughing too, and nodded when she finally spoke again. "Yeah. Same here. I'm sick of death and killing." He said as he leaned his helm forwards, resulting in his forehead gently resting against Shale's.
When he realized he did this he pulled his helm back sightly, and gazed into Shale's optics, unsure if she was alright with the idea of the two of them touching like that again. There was so much garbage for the two of them to go through but at the same time he was so glad that he was with her again that he just wanted to hold her like he was now forever. No war, no desperate times, no nothing; just the two of them, alone, with nothing to bother them.
