Episode 2.5 | Week 1 | Day 1
After Impromtu Evactuation, around 'It's A Little Broken'
For the Head Scientist, most of what had been going on did not directly concern him so he found no need to involve himself with whatever nonsense the others were bothering themselves with. Shockwave spent a majority of his time holed up in his Lab- as was the usual. He was busy familiarizing himself with what this organic planet provided him in terms of resources and, though he had achieved a great deal since his time here in spite of the odd supplies this 'Earth' gave him, he had felt it wasn't enough. To him, the Decepticons had not yet gained enough of an upper hand between the two factions. Not one that he would consider worthy to boast about. The fact that they had the flying fortress whose location was ever changing did give them a bit of a push in that direction, but Shockwave knew it would only be a matter of time before such a thing was turned against them. It would have been foolish to think that they were invincible just because they were able to take to the sky.
There was that other pesky little issue that had become a problem since their arrival to this planet. At first Shockwave had ignored any complaints from the others about 'this annoying fleshing getting in so-and-so's way, but it was when MECH had made a more bold move that Shockwave did at least tune his audials in a little more. They had been able to take down one of the Nemesis's formidable soldiers and- from what circled around the ship through word of mouth- had managed to do some pretty extensive damage to the bulldozer with legs. It had definitely sparked at least some bit of interest to him, considering that Breakdown should have been able to turn the humans into scrap rather easily, but it was the talk of the technology they had used to bring him down that been the cause of that and less of the fact that Breakdown had brought shame to the ship.
That had been a lead up to what they were having to deal with now. This... truce, of sorts. Whatever temporary agreement his Lord and the Autobot Leader had been reached
with a goal of bringing a unification of the feuding sides to crush this fleshling group- MECH as he found them to be called. None of that, again, really concerned him.
It was the word that had been handed down to him that had caused a familiar spark of irritation go through his circuits. He had been instructed to halt any further production of anything related to weaponry and development. Shockwave was not one to sit back and let the world around him turn. He always had something going on, multiple things usually, and though he had attempted to comply, he found that completely removing himself from his laboratory was simply not going to happen. To completely stop his research was deemed illogical to him so he found ways to keep things on track without drawing a red flag that would put this cease fire to risk.
The tracking mechanism that Knock Out had removed from Breakdown had been sitting off to the side and out of the way where it wouldn't be in his way. Now it was what he focused on. He tore the thing apart piece by piece, trying to isolate the trigger that had disrupted Breakdown's neural net. It was small... primitive... but at least it gave Shockwave something to do. The testings he did after that could have been questioned, but they were so minor that they were written off as nothing more than him finding ways to counter the odd technology that MECH had at their disposal. He would have a Vehicon or two see what they could find in the bases that had been abandoned so he could have more things to tinker with. All things that were trivial to him- but at least he was still doing something. Not that he couldn't pick up from where he left off the moment this foolish act was nullified.
Bigger problems seemed to be in store, however.
As per his request so he wouldn't be disturbed, Shockwave's comm system in his private area was on a different transmission cast than the rest of the ship. That way he was able to work in silence unless he needed to be contacted direction, at which point they need only send a message on his channel. Isolation was good for on who wanted to work without disturbances, but not so good when there was an actual emergency that would have been beneficial for him to know. As a result, the distress call Knock Out had given out regarding Flatline hadn't reached him, nor had any of the other frantic communications. He didn't know there was a problem until... well... it pretty much became physical.
While Shockwave was sorting through data on his console, he heard chaos unfolding in the halls just outside of his laboratory doors. He had ignored it at first but when it continued, he found himself pulling away from his work just to try and figure out what was going on and why it was so loud.
"Shockwave to bridge."
No response.
"Shockwave to bridge. Is anyone there?"
Nothing again. That was unusual indeed. Usually there was at least a vehicon manning the controls that should have responded to him. He was about to call again when an odd sensation started to come from the area below his pedes. He looked down and shifted his weight, needing to replant himself to keep from being thrown off balance. He was used to there being evasive maneuvers from the Nemesis but... this? This seemed different. The ship definitely shouldn't have been lifting up as much as it did- not without some warning to everyone to brace themselves- and not at the speed it was.
No amount of shifting in weight was able to save him from what came next. The ship was tilting the WRONG way- downward from what he was able to gather. Things that were not bolted down were falling off their counter spaces, hitting the floor and rolling towards the back wall of his lab. Shockwave reached out to grab for his console with one servo, talon digits curling in around the back lip of it in an attempt to keep himself from sliding down where everything else was going. He heard what sounded like a groan come from the walls of the ship before a sudden jerk from what seemed to be impact dislodged him from his hold on the console and he slid along the floor towards the back wall. He struck it hard, which rattled his sensors some but not enough to do any sort of real damage or to knock him for a loop. That turned out to be a good thing, considering he looked up to see one of the tables that had been previously caught on one of the floor cables come loose and hurl towards him. Shockwave swung out with his gun arm and struck it, causing it to clatter off against the wall a good distance from him.
This was definitely wrong. Though what was he supposed to do beside sit it out, wait, and once things settled figure out just what in the name of the Pits was happening. In the meanwhile he stepped along the wall, pushing aside things that were in his path, as he made an attempt to hold onto whatever was still attached to the floor and pull himself up the floor ( that had now become a wall from the angle ) and get to the door. A feat in itself, to say the least.
When everything had finally calmed down, another issue was needing to be addressed. The ship had stopped moving now, but things internally were... well... flipped. Ceilings were now the floors and vise-versa. Power was either out across the ship or just in some areas safe fro the emergency lights that flashed red along the ceiling-floor. They were taking on water- minimally in the area Shockwave was in- but he had no idea the extent of damage to the rest of the ship. Shockwave had been lucky enough that his lab operated on its own power grid ( a requirement for him since he couldn't risk the safety of his experiments should the Nemesis go offline ), so the heavy doors didn't have to be pried open and risk being damaged in the process. That was about the only favor that was being given to him at this moment.
Currently he made his way through, heavy pedefalls echoing along the empty corridors. Shockwave was never one to shun silence, but this? He had been turning different halls for what seemed like forever, stepping over archways and items that lay around haphazardly in their new places while avoiding cables that had been jarred lose. Some of the halls were completely dark while others fed from the backup energy and were lit in their typical minimal fashion. Many of these areas he didn't dare cross into, knowing that the mix of water and wild electricity would not end well for his systems, but going the long way wasted time and brought on a flicker of irritation. In the time he had been exploring he had not heard anything except water and the familiar sound of exposed live wires. The alarms had long since been ceased.
The silence would have been welcomed had it not been that he was seeking answers from someone. There were no Vehicons running around and no one sending out communications to let whoever was still on the Nemesis know of the situation. Had they come under attack from an outside force? No, then Shockwave would have heard the sounds that were related to that. This had been something different...
What, exactly? Well, he was certain that the more he searched, he would eventually come across something. At the very least he wanted to know who to blame for turning his lab topsy-turvy!
