((Week one, day 6, about midday))
"Alright... one more turn... and that should do it." Hazmat said to himself as he pulled a Cybertronian sized wrench out from the underside of a large storage tank that was located in Omega base, and were a part of the energon processors that were currently going unused. Hazmat had a little bit of free time on his servos so he had decided to run a quick systems check on the processors and found that a few of the bolts that kept unit secured to the floor were a little loose... and since he was free he decided he'd tighten them down himself. It wasn't like he was doing much of anything anyway around the base; he was a custodian, a toxicologist, and fire suppression specialist. His duties around the base were keeping the place clean... and that was about it. There was very little chance of a fire happening within the base, nor were their any toxins that needed to be cleaned up. As a result what he was doing most of the time was lifting heavy stuff to take it down to where they were expanding the base, along with operating the ground bridge occasionally... and that was about it. He lacked weapons so he wasn't good for combat at the moment, his alt would draw attention so there was little reason to have him go on patrol... and his last conversation with Optimus Prime had gone so poorly that he doubted he was going to be trusted with any important duties for a while.
So here he was doing a simple task that anyone could do. Truthfully the loose bolts wouldn't effect the Energon processors at all for the moment, but it could in the long run so might as well take care of it now. However as he put the wrench away, the green and black bot now found himself with nothing to do once again... and he hated that feeling. His adaptive armor made it so that he needed more Energon then anyone else in the entire base, Optimus Prime included, and yet he felt like he was the most useless Cybertronian in the entire base... and in truth he couldn't really think of anything to disprove that thought.
Sighing through his vents he lifted himself up onto his pedes, causing the hydraulics in his legs to groan, and started to walk out of the room he was in only to stop when he saw something round in another room. Curious he walked over to that room and found that it was a vacant room that was a little large, and the round object was a Lob Ball. The large mech just stared at the ball with his yellow optics for a moment as a memory of his time back on Cybertron during the war came to his mind.
It was a single Joor before the operation to retake the Decagon was to be initiated, and Hazmat was checking on the magnetic steering rods of a fellow custodial mech with a locomotive form when a Lob ball came flying passed his helm.
"Sorry!" a pair of femmes called out at the same time so their voices blended into one another as Hazmat glanced over his shoulder to see Rails and Ties, twin femme flyers that were part of his artillery unit, Zeta company. Rails had started forwards to grab the Lob Ball but stopped when Hazmat had placed his servo on it to keep it in place. Standing behind the twins was the two wheeler Gasket, and he was shaking his helm while chuckling. "Strike one of for the twins! Bad luck seems to come in pairs, doesn't it?" Gasket said with a smirk, only to get a hard elbow into his back by the blocky construction mech named Coupler, who only let out a disapproving grunt at Gasket's joke.
Turning back to his work, Hazmat made one final tweek, and then grabbed the tipped over locomotive mech by the boiler and pulled, and managed to get the large bot back onto his wheels. "You're good to go Tanker Buster, but keep one of your hazard sensors trained onto the ground from now on. That land mine you ran over didn't do much this time, but you might not be so lucky next time." Hazmat said to his second in command, who didn't respond until he transformed, revealing that he looked almost exactly like Hazmat... save for being colored blue and orange instead of black and green. "I'll keep that in mind sir." Tanker said with a nod.
Off to the side another mech, a former scraplit hunter named Smog Pusher, was doing a system's check on one of his miniguns. "You know the longer we sit here the greater the chances are the 'Cons are gonna find us and realize that we have something in the works. We should just launch an attack now. We have enough fire power to blow a hole in their defensive line, so why don't we do so?" the fearless hunter said as he folded up his minigun and swung it over his shoulder, where it attached to his back. Hazmat looked over at Smog with a puzzled look as he said "You surprise me Smog. I thought you were the one that always kept saying 'if one charges straight into a straplit nest, then one is scraplit chow.' Am I wrong?" The large mech then tossed the Lob ball over his shoulders towards Rails without even looking, and got a surprised "EEP!" and the sound of a clang for his actions. "How did he know you let your guard down?" Coupler asked, followed by another clang as Rails threw the Lob Ball. "He's known us since we were sparklings. We might as well be a combiner with him acting as the brain. He must of heard our wings clicking from boredom." Ties responded, to which Coupler responded to with another grunt. "And the muscle too from what I've seen. Still can't believe he ripped an Insecticon's head off with one servo." the grumpy mech said. "Yeah but he missed the opportunity to say 'heads up' as he did so! Gasket commented with a chuckle.
Meanwhile Hazmat and Smog were still talking. "We're not against scraplits here sir. We're against Decepticons, and they are capable of abstract thought. We keep sitting here quietly and they are gonna suspect something." Smog argued, to which Hazmat responded "And unlike scraplits, they are capable of firing from a distance with their own long range cannons. They haven't yet so they don't suspect anything yet." Hazmat said, then held up a servo and leaned to the left so the Lob Ball that was launched at his back flew passed his helm and into his raised servo, where it stayed from him squeezing the ball. "Point made! We went silent for a moment when there had been activity so Haz started to suspect something." Rails said, and then her sister Ties finished for her. "So when we struck from that same quiet spot he was prepared!"
"However Smog your not wrong either. We stay silent too long and they will fortify, maybe to the point that no one could get in. Everyone get your gear ready. I'm going to check with command if we can launch one barrage from behind their own lines to keep them off balance. I know a few ways to get in their from below." Hazmat said, then tossed the Lob Ball at Tanker, only for the ball to come flying at him almost instantly from Tanker lobbing it again the instant he caught it. The ball was caught and quickly threw it again, this time at Gasket. He caught the ball, but was knocked right off his pedes thanks to the force placed behind the throw.
Hazmat smiled at that memory. Zeta Company had trouble working together at first, but after some time they learned to work together and even anticipate one another. Picking up the Lob Ball, Hazmat gazed at the sphere before tossing it straight into the air, watched it almost touch the ceiling, and then catching it when it came down. That was something he could do for Team Prime... bonding exercises with the new arrivals so they could learn to work with the team a bit better and faster. He'd need permission to take on this role, but he could do it.
That's when he heard a crash from down the hall. Quickly turning his head in the direction of the sound, Hazmat quickly jogged in the direction that he heard it come form, the Lob Ball tucked under his arm. He turned a corner, then stopped when he saw an Autobot he didn't recognize. His paint job was really bright to the point that Haz almost couldn't look at the young bot. He also looked like he could be rather fast too. However there was something about the way the bot was walking that just spoke to Hazmat... as if something had just happened.
"Hey. You alright pal?"
