Hey folks-
As many of you have realized, one of our Admins has been up to her ears in life for the last several months. Unfortunately, it hasn't let up. As always, first and foremost, we want to stress that this board is for fun.
In no way should this game be a overhanging source of concern or stress to a player or administrator.
For now, Toggs is stepping down from administrative duties and is returning to simply be a player.
(Toggs, you've been an absolutely amazing and wonderful admin and player throughout the years. Your writing is wonderful, and your characters are spot on. Hope things level out a little bit for you and that you're back to writing on the board soon!)
With that said, we are now looking to fill a couple of positions on the board.
We are opening up both a position for an Admin and a Moderator.
In the board's past, the Admins sought out people and asked them if they were interested in filling an Admin or a Mod slot.
This time we're going to try something a little different!
We know that time is short and life gets busy. We don't want to ask anyone to feel pressured into taking one of these positions if they don't want to or don't have the ability to do so right now.
If you are interested in taking on one of these positions (or if you would be willing to do either and don't mind) we would like you to email the main moderator account - tfp.rpg@gmail.com (Remember no attachments, only text within the body of the e-mail, please.)
We'd love to know a little bit about you, why you're interested, and about any experience you've had. Such as if you have any moderator or admin background (have you been on another board, run a chat room, etc.) that just helps us know what situations and you're familiar with. It's absolutely okay not to have had previous experience though, don't worry!
Please let us know what time-zone you're in too, just because it helps us find times we are all around to discuss whatever comes up.
Job descriptions are as follows:
Admins do the work of sifting through applications and offering suggested changes to submitted characters. It's time consuming and can involve a lot of back and forth discussion with the other members of the administration. They also offer to run plots that can affect the entire board, monitor the chat-box and email, and decide disciplinary actions if needed.
Often they are the ones whose characters help introduce new characters, and make sure they are able to get established.
Any player that is considering this role needs to be active and posting on a regular basis. It's a commitment that does sometimes cut into your character writing time, and we just want you to be aware of that.
The admins here use AIM to chat back and forth about board issues but that is not a requirement if you're not comfortable with that. It just makes things a little faster is all.
Moderators are a little bit different. They do not help with applications or decide on board-wide plots. Moderators greet newcomers and answer any questions they may have about getting started. They also have the ability to monitor the chat box against both spam bots and folks who aren't playing nice. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often.
Right now, we're on the hunt for a mod who's also interested in helping out with advertising. This means you would be going around to other RPG boards and hubs and doing bit of soliciting for our RPG. It helps us to get out the word that we are still an active RPG and accepting new players. There's no quota to how much you should advertise, but the more the better!
Hope to see some emails in the inbox soon! Thank you all for being such awesome players and grand people and making our board such a success and a great place!
