CHARACTER INFO
Name: Sparklight
Age: Late Teens/Early Adulthood
Gender: Femme
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Autobot
Original Occupation: Energon Scout
Occupation/Specialization: Melee Combatant/Energon Scout
Appearance: Starting with Sparklight's overall design, she is a rather slender femme, thanks in part to her alt-mode of choice, though she has a passing resemblance to more traditional knights of old. Her entire body except for her face is lightly armoured, and is encased in a shell constructed out of flexible, lightweight, black metal. Some parts of her body (mostly critical areas) have extra plating, which is painted in a sheen of bright and vibrant orange, similar in hue to the sky at sunset. The areas in which her body possesses this extra plating is on her chest, crotch, shoulders, helmet and lower legs. These areas have received additional armouring whilst others have not is to try and protect areas that are more critical to her survival/combat functionality, without sacrificing mobility.
For example, the additional plating of her chest begins from the top of her abdomen right to her shoulders, wrapping around her back to fend off potential attacks from behind. The reason as to why her extra plating does not extend to her abdomen is so that it does not sacrifice the flexibility that is provided being able to bend and twist her gut area without having to push past extra plates of armour. Stamped onto the rightside of this chestpiece is an autobrand, which bears the aesthetic of a bright and yet weathered steel silver. Her crotch also possesses the extra plating, and it wraps around the back as well, but does not extend over her thighs, for the same reason as to why her chestplate does not extend to her abdominal area. However, to try and keep Sparklight’s thighs safe, she does possess side skirting and tabard plating, with the former extending just short of her thighs, and the latter reaching down to just above her ankles. The tabard is mostly for aesthetic purposes, though it can serve to protect regions of her thighs from frontal attacks.
Sparklight's pedes are an odd case, in that she doesn't have pedes in the normal sense. Rather, the two wheels of her alt-mode take their place, allowing her greater mobility. However, she does have small flip-down pedes, that extend around her wheels, taking the shape of a hollow rectangle with an incline where her toes would be. Moving up her legs, they are encased by her orange extra plating, which has a total thickness equal to the diameter of her wheels. Her mudflaps form knee-guards, which reach out over the front of her pedes.
Sparklight’s servos are rather simply designed, with 5 slender yet boxy digits. On the back of each hand however, is a circle, that when activated glows a bright blue, and is otherwise the same black as the rest of her hand. Moving upwards to her forearms, they carry a bit more bulk to them, using curved plates of the same orange hue as before. This creates contrast with her upper arm, which is bare, leaving the same black metal as on her servos and abdomen. Above that however, is her shoulder plates which are a pair of large hollow half-cylinders that are aligned vertically with her shoulders and stick out over the top of them. They are coloured orange like the rest of her extra plates, though they each possess an autobrand (coloured with the same silvery-steel grey as the one her chest) in the centre of them.
As for Sparklight's helm, a pair of orange metal plates guard her cheeks, one on each side. Atop her head are two split, orange, curved panels which travel down to just above her forehead, connecting at that point via a small bar.. As they reach towards the back of the top of her helm, they join into one before travelling all the way down to the back of neck, connecting to the aforementioned 'cheek-guards' she wears. When in combat, the plates atop Sparklight’s head shunt down over her face, forming a battle-mask that bears a T-shaped visor, in which the visor is made out a material similar to glass. The material is polarized to black, so that she can see outside, but nobody can see in unless it is depolarized.
Sparklight's height the same as Arcee’s, given their similarity in choice of alternate mode.
Altmode: Kawasaki Z1000SX
History: Forged directly from Vector Sigma/The AllSpark as one of the last sparked, Sparklight was placed into a body on Cybertron, and then launched offworld in a pod. Her mission was to land on a selected planet and then relay information about energon stashes there to see if it was a viable world the Autobots could flee to.
On her travels however, The pod took a new trajectory, detecting the signal of the Decepticon warship, the Nemesis causing it to crash down on Earth. Disembarking Sparklight exploring the desert in which she had landed. Her Pod's communications array was damaged, meaning she could not send communications to other Earth-bound Autobots.
Sparklight's construction meant that she had been pre-programmed with the information she needed to know about the Autobot cause and basic combat, and decided to wait out how long it would take to be found by testing her abilities in combat, training. It was doing this that she found she had a special power - magnetic control. Finding no data on her abilities or how to use them, she instead spent her time practicing it instead, eventually combining her melee weapon with her power.
Days passed as she began to cannibalize parts of her pod, using them to fix her comms array - which had been littered with minor damage, but enough to make it non-functional. By the time it was barely functioning, the pod was all but scrap metal. Using her newly re-constructed communications beacon, she sent a distress message to all Cybertronians stationed on the planet, eventually being found and taken in by the autobots known as Bumblebee and Carbine. After being brought to Omega Outpost and meeting Optimus Prime, Sparklight stuck around the base for a while, and scanned an alt-mode, but she also observed the dire energon situation. A side effect of her crash was that is caused her brain to “boot-up” incorrectly, granting Sparklight a semi-formed personality and set of memories, though both slowly developed over time. As she became more mature, the femme decided to fix the energon situation on her own, recalling her role as an energon hunter. Disabling her tracker and leaving the base without using the groundbridge and onto a distant continent, Sparklight wandered for a few weeks on her own, scouring multiple areas for energon that were usually on the fringes of human civilisation. This allowed her to remain mostly hidden from the human populace, but also interruption in most forms. As such, the femme had a lot of time to herself, during which her personality developed further and she began to recall more of her pre-programmed memories. She also made use of this time to practice her skills with both her powers and her weapons, gaining knowledge of how to use both more effectively by using scrap “borrowed” from junkyards. Despite the progress that she made with her mental state and skill levels, Sparklight’s search ultimately didn’t go as well as she had planned, and by the time she sent a request for pick up by the Autobots, she had barely discovered enough energon to sustain her allies for even a few days.
Personality: To start, Sparklight is over-confident and over-enthusiastic. Her long time spent alone in the desert training has made her lust for her first taste of combat, resulting in her headstrong attitude. Having never engaged in true combat before, she believes that she can take on and overcome any enemy the Decepticons can throw her way. This carries over to her personality outside of combat, as Sparklight is always eager to go on a mission, always wanting to be the first one. While this doesn't mean she values herself over her team-mates, she certainly wishes to prove to them she can fight any fight as good as anyone else.
Sparklight used to possess an abundance of energy; not physically but rather in spirit, though this was tempered by her first meeting with reality. Being starved for energon and learning that actually, she isn’t some god-like being that can solve every problem hit the young femme hard, and in addition to slowly regaining more memories, she has rapidly grown more mature. Whereas before she was always curious, she possesses some idea of when is a good time to talk and when it’s better to stay quiet, though she always has moments where she forgets this entirely and can go either way in a conversation. With this in mind though, she is a rather chatty femme who will taunt her opponents in combat and converse with both them and her own allies. Though in the case of the latter, the topic of conversation isn’t necessarily about tactics, though the focus does seem to be on the fight or the matter at hand. Sparklight also has an interest in human pop culture, replicating things she finds regarding it because of how upbeat it is.
Having had tales of Autobot heroics programmed into her head, Sparklight dreams of her exploits soon being among them, though her expectations have been tempered some since she has fully come on line. Completing the mission before anyone else is one of her top priorities, coupled with scrapping as many cons as possible. This behavior means that she will often run off ahead to achieve this and prove herself, a trait which will often only endanger herself or her allies. Despite this, she will still try to continue the mission unless given orders not to, and even then may try and continue the objective unless she comes to the realization her actions are hurting her allies. That said, her spark is certainly in the right place, and she fully intends to one day grow into a great Autobot hero, or at the least, be someone who can stand up for her friends and cause.
Likes: Fighting Decepticons, Completing Objectives, Victory, Approval, Earth's Popular Culture
Dislikes: Being chastised for her actions, Getting a team-mate hurt, Failing the Mission
Strengths/Weapons:
Combat Staffblade: The Combat Staffblade is a pair of thick and sturdy Swords affixed by a handle that is about Sparklight's height from helm to pede, a prong attached to the cutting edge on either side of the weapon, evoking a similar design to a Sai. This is not all however. Said prongs can slide all the way up and down the edge of the weapon they are mounted on, allowing them to become a trident-like weapon, one similar to pickaxe and many forms in between. They can change the angle at which they are at, allowing them to be used to trap other blades, or to make the Staffblade into a form of scythe.
The Staffblade has a decent cutting ability, being sharp enough to slice through medium armour, and little-to-no more than that. In terms of storage, the whole weapon can fold up into a more form on her back, in which it simply folds in half.
One additional function of this weapon that Sparklight discovered on her “adventure” was the Staffblade’s ability to split in half. In this mode, both of the blades are then attached to her wrists, acting as large arm blades. Another new mode that Sparklight figured out on her adventure was a more traditional sword form, though this is less of an intended feature and one that is created more so by intentionally mis-transforming the Staffblade. In essence, the regular sword mode is created by putting the Staffblade in its compact storage mode, and extending out the side prongs as crossguards.
Speed: Sparklight's choice of alt-mode, coupled with the weight of her armour and the fact that she has wheels rather than standard pedes are all factors that make her an incredibly fast combatant in either mode.
Magnetic Control: Sparklight is an Outlier, a rare Cybertronian with a special ability. In Sparklight's case, this power is Magnetism. This allows her to manipulate ferrous metals and magnetic fields. With regards to how she can use her power, Sparklight has a generator in her abdomen area that can create and manipulate magnetic fields. This generator creates a radius around her in which her powers work with the generator itself as the origin - the size of the radius being double her arm's length from said point. Her servos are what she uses to move objects in this radius around, objects she manipulates with this power follow their movement, e.g if she swings her right arm outwards behind her, the object will swing behind her, or if she thrusts her arm forward the object will be thrust forward too. It is important to note it is her servos, not her digits that control them - so moving her digits will have no effect on said powers. The distance the object she is manipulating from her servos is controlled by her mind, rather than her servos, but this is the only exception.
On the topic of power consumption via her powers, the drain would be proportional to what she's trying to move, in terms of weight, size and how delicate the maneuver is. It would have a similar drain to performing the task manually, but with 50% more power consumed. The Magnetic field only allows Sparklight to pick up objects roughly about the weight of a small car at maximum, which would drain a lot of power and require both hands to lift with her powers. The strength of the field itself has medium strength, able to uproot metal objects from the ground if their attachment to the floor is weak or also made of ferrous metal, e.g a lamp post.
Twin Tachyon Repeaters: A pair of doubled barreled blasters. The Tachyon repeaters are two handheld guns, equivalent to SMGs. Both weapons are burst fire with an incredible firing rate of 8 bullets per second. This means when the trigger is pulled, 8 bullets streak towards the target, 4 from each barrel. However, this high fire rate is offset by both it's poor damage (The bullets can barely penetrate medium thickness armour) and the fact that Sparklight's aim with them is poor, making her liable to miss her shots. Another advantage of them however, is that they are usually concealed inside of her forearms, until they are launched forwards into her servos for situations that require a fast draw time. Despite being handheld these weapons are energy based, drawing power from small uplinks in her digits.
Weaknesses:
Light Armour: Due to the fact that she is a two wheeler, Sparklight has light armour that leaves her body exposed in some places. Said places are her abdomen, thighs and upper arms. Attacks on these locations are much more effective on attacks where she is armoured.
Ranged Combat: Sparklight is at a disadvantage in ranged combat, due to her little amount of training with her ranged weapon of any kind. Whilst she does possess a pair of guns, her twin Tachyon Repeaters, it doesn't help that they do little damage and have high recoil due to their fire rate.In light of this, when fighting in combat over distance, Sparklight’s main tactic is to throw things at the enemy and try to guide the projectile with her powers. This strategy tends to have varying effects, and is far from reliable.
Hand-to-hand Combat: Whilst Sparklight is confident in her abilites regarding the use of her dualblade, actual fighting with her fists comes as a problem. Whilst she is fast enough to deliver strikes and she knows just about where to place them, her light frame means that her punches and kicks are often weak and don't do much damage.
Over-Enthusiastic/Headstrong: Sparklight wants to prove herself to her team-mates, and she is also brash and bold in her methods. This means she will often take risks that put herself or others in unnecessary danger, leading to them being harmed.
Limitations of her Magnetic Abilities: Firstly is Sparklight's control over this ability, being a novice in using it, unable to pull off complex or incredibly delicate maneuvers. One way to stop her use of her abilities is damage to her generator. Significant wounds to her abdomen and more specifically the generator itself won't allow her to use her power. In a similar way, because she uses her servos to move objects, stopping her moving her arms will negate her powers, e.g simple cuffs will stop her for the most part, or grabbing and holding her arms still will stop her entirely. Again, it should be noted that this method would work as she needs to move her servos, not her digits.
The strength of the magnetic field she generates means it cannot penetrate through a medium thickness non-ferrous material, e.g the thickness of Sentio Metallico used to create a Two-wheeler, an inch of concrete. This means that for bots who have ferrous metals within them, their Sentio Metallico outer shell would protect them from having said ferrous internal piece being magnetically removed.
Special Skills:
Energon Tracker: Less of a learned ability and more of an integrated tool, Sparklight's original purpose means that she has built in sensors that can locate nearby mineral energon (She can only track this form of energon, and not processed energon which is present inside Cybertronians and machinery). However said sensors are damaged, and would require repairs to be operating at optimum capability. Once this happens, she can get both the exact location, and how much of the mineral energon there is marked on her HUD. The tracker only works with energon in a 25 foot radius, regardless of what is between both her and it. In it's damaged state however, the distance calculator has a habit of being off, as does the part of the sensor that ascertains how much there is, both of which are combined with a heavily reduced radius of 15 feet.
Extra Info:
Holomatter Avatar: As a Two-wheeler, it is a necessity that Sparklight generates a Holomatter avatar when driving, as unlike bots who turned into vehicles with windshields or cockpits, she lacks both methods of hiding her true nature. Sparklight's driver is a young, human female in her early twenties, clad in a black leather motorcycle suit and helmet, both with orange diagonal stripes on them, travelling from the right downwards to the left. Whilst often wearing her helmet, when more meaningful human interaction is required, under that helmet is a caucasian woman with multiple freckles under her eyes, and short, bobbed red hair. Sparklight affectionately refers to this avatar as Zoey. As a holomatter avatar “Zoey” can interact with the world around her, as she is a tangible construct.
Sample RP:
Sand.
A whole lot of sand.
Sand on the ground.
Sand whisked away by the air.
Sand in every crack and crevice of an Orange Cybertronian's armour.
Such was the usual existence in the desert, bar that last one. That was a trait unique to this desert. Tire tracks trailed for miles in the sand, the pattern in which they moved a rather odd one. Instead of travelling in a straight line, these tracks weaved in and out, almost as though they had been created by someone skating along the desert. In truth they had. The Aforementioned Orange Cybertronian lacked pedes in the normal way, possessing wheels in their place, and often skating was one of the faster ways to move about with pedes like that, often in combination with using a motor to turn them.
The Cybertronian sped through the desert, on the trail of a cache of energon. Blue flashes lit up on her HUD, displaying how far away the energon was and how much there was of it, with the occasional error, courtesy of the damaged system that allowed them to track the energon. Their frame was light-weight, small and thin. Curvy hips and a narrow spacing between shoulders easily gave away that the Sunset-coloured Cybertronian in question was a femme. One femme in particular, Sparklight, Autobot Recruit and member of the Last Sparked.
Sand whipped against her armour as she closed on location, and once their the femme kneeled down, observing the dunes to try and get a lock on the source of the energon. Her entire HUD flashed bright blue. She had arrived. Reaching out with both servos she quickly began to part the sands until she reached rock, rock that she sensed was the only barrier between her and the Energon she required. Pulling her servos out of the hole they had hastily dug, clawing sand out of the ground and placing it in piles either side of her.
Soon her efforts would yield result, as a bright glow illuminated the hole - finally, energon! Desperately she rammed both servos into the ground and yanked it out, holding in each a small shard of the precious mineral. Hastily she covered the hole she had made with sand and then sped off back the direction she came. A small twenty minute journey awaited her, but soon she arrived at her base of operations. Well it wasn't really a base, more of a badly built shelter, using parts scavenged from the pod in which she had arrived on Earth in. Said pod wasn't much of a pod anymore, rather a few scraps of metal that hadn't be used to make something else. In fact, one of the only things still intact from it was the energon processor, the first thing she moved for upon arrival, taking both shards and placing them within it, activating the machine and letting it begin the task of processing the energon.
Sparklight was overjoyed by the fact that her most recent hunt for energon had yielded two shards. One for her, and one for her 'science project'. It was only a few minutes until the first shard had been processed into liquid energon, of which she quickly used up, replenishing her systems back to maximum, as her short duration on this planet had only meant she needed a small amount of energon to refill her supply. Not long after, the second shard had also been processed, and carefully taking the container in which it was held, she approached her creation.
In front of her was a poorly constructed/repaired communications array, barely working. All that it needed now was energon - Something she could spare. Reaching into it's fuel chamber, Sparklight carefully inserted the container of energon and stepped back, watching her creation come to life. Originally part of her pod, the communications array was damaged in her crash, but she was fortunate enough to be able to turn her pod into the replacement parts she needed. A small humming began to build up, rapidly increasing in pitch, getting higher and higher with every second. Sparks flew everywhere, electricity jolted through it's circuits, until eventually the humming and the whirring both reached a point at which they no longer escalated in pitch. Slowly, the screen began to come to life, displaying the globe on it. Unfortunately, she found no Autobot signals, yet she had to try. They could just be shielded, right?
Doubts began to gnaw at the femme's mind but she remained hopeful that she wasn't alone. Slowly extending her servo out towards the screen, she tapped a glowing red button with an outstretched digit. A distress call was quickly transmitted across the globe, anyone could receive it. While Sparklight hoped that the Autobots would respond first, she wasn't opposed to kicking the can of any 'con who tried to get there first. All she hoped for was that someone, anyone would respond.
