I got some positive feedback for this idea, so I’m going to put it out here for everyone to offer feedback.
The Autobots are getting real thirsty/hungry and I for one intend to address this in a logical plotty manner and throw Rail in the deep end at it. What I have in mind however will need approval by the admins for some of the assumptions and background.
Firstly, I assume that the energon that the Earth was seeded with was done so in a logical distribution – otherwise much would be wasted by landing in the ocean or have been discovered by humans with all their mining and digging and excavating, plus erosion and all sorts of other ways thing might get uncovered. Also the Decepticons seem to have a map while the ‘Bots do not. Stealing a map from the ‘Cons seems to me to be a suicidal mission so the ‘Bots need to work out where the energon deposits are likely to be and then scout them out.
I posit that energon can grow by somehow automagically allowing Hydrogen nuclei to utilize quantum tunnelling and undergo cold fusion, the energon adsorbing the released energy in the process and growign. If the hydrogen is too abundant, the process is too quick and BOOM. Too scarce and the energon fades. Now Cybertron is relative to Earth scarce of Hydrogen. There would be some in hydrocarbons, but if there was more, Cybertron would have water. Earth however exists in the “Goldilocks” zone and has literal oceans of water. I further posit that the logical places for the stable growth of Energon are places that have a small but reliable supply of water – like porous rock. I figure that places of porous rock can somewhat be mapped by pre-existing geological surveys.
As for the in-game threads, the first one would be spent simply trying to deduce the above, using a mix of logic, IC knowledge and simply visiting known energon mines to see what if anything the surrounding rock and location have in common.
Second part would be finding an untouched energon deposit, securing the site and mining equipment, and then onto trying to refining the raw energon, all while trying to keep activities hidden from the Decepticons.
I figure this thread or threads will change the current in game balance and realise that while Rail (in part by design) would be ideal, I, the player am untested and unproven. I can provide no proof that I will be here to see the plot through to its conclusion.
So…feedback, ideas, any volunteers even?
