It seemed like they were just back to where they started...
No, actually. This was better than last time. Last time there had been sparks broken, things said that perhaps should not have been said. Now this was more of an impasse, though Thundercracker sensed it more of an uneasy truce. At Starscream’s words though, he watched his brother for a long moment before replying.
“Indeed, for both our sakes.”
Should Starscream force his hand, make him choose between him and Megatron, Thundercracker would act according to his conscience. And if that meant choosing Megatron over Starscream, then consequences be damned he would do it. And if that meant taking Starscream offline...
He didn’t want to think that far ahead. He prayed he would never have to make that choice. Somehow though, he knew that he would have to make a choice at some point.
“No, Starscream. I figure you’ve said your piece, I’ve said mine.”
Thundercracker turned to leave before looking back to Starscream, an optic ridge arced in an unspoken question. He could have just left then and there, but he waited. Waited for Starscream to say something, anything. Maybe he was just deluding himself, but still he stood there and waited.

In the long moment of silence, Starscream’s gaze would not leave that of Thundercracker, almost as if trying to read him from expression alone. He found himself strangely disappointed, thinking for sure that when his brother returned there would’ve been a physical clash that tumbled into the corridor, possibly spilling out of Blackridge entirely into the open air.
While he was not one for fighting like some sort of brute, it would have certainly helped to clear the air between them once and for all - if only because he knew Thundercracker would’ve held back. Now, there would be this awkward tension due to the stalemate.
At least until the next time they met, he was sure.
At the reply, he would nod. Wings twitching some as he spoke.
“Indeed.”
While he would not force Thundercracker to pick between himself and Megatron, he hoped that the other mech would choose him should the moment arise. Loyalty to his trine, loyalty to his brother rather than that of a tyrant who had lost his way.
Should he not? Well, it would not be a choice that lasted long. Not above terminating the other Seeker, Starscream could only hope that when the time came - which it would - Thundercracker would make the right decision.
As the other mech turned to leave, Starscream would take a step forward in turn. Only when Thundercracker looked back did he frown, a rumble of a growl sounding in his throat.
“Then what are you waiting for? Leave.”
If there anything else that needed to be said, Starscream’s expression would not hint at such. Even if he wanted nothing more than to catch up properly, to possibly start the long task of rebuilding what they had long ago? It was evident that he and Thundercracker had drifted too far apart.
But he had far more important matters to deal with than fixing old issues.

With that dismissal, Thundercracker sighed and finally turned around and left, closing the door behind him and walking down the hall to try and find Soundwave so he could get a bunk assignment.
As he walked through the halls, wanted to kick himself for pausing that last minute. What was he expecting, Starscream to come to his senses after all these years? Was he deluding himself further by deciding to stay here, hoping to Primus that his brother would change? Well, he was stuck here now, no way in the Pits of Kaon that Starscream would allow him to leave.
And Thundercracker was in no mood to be labeled and chased as a deserter.
All of a sudden Thundercracker let out a roar and slammed his fist into the rock wall, burying his servo about a foot into the wall before extracting it and shaking his servo to numb the slight feelings of pain that traveled up to his processor. Damn Starscream. Damn this whole thing to the Pits.
‘Damn you Starscream. Why did you have to get us all involved in this...’
Ignoring the stares directed his way by the vehicons who had poked their heads around the corner to see what was going on, Thundercracker let out a growl before continuing on, not bothering to ask any of them for directions. If he spent the next five hours walking around this damn cave before he found Soundwave, he didn’t particularly care.
