Week 3, Day 5
(Beginning post at Outpost)
Skystone marched through the walls of the Outpost with purpose, trying to squash down apprehension.
She'd been asked to meet with a Sergeant Nathan Walker about a MECH recon mission. Skystone was good at her current job on base, which mostly consisted of construction and planning of renovations and expansion at Omega One. Reconnaissance wasn't something she participated in often, but she was still a soldier.
But she was maybe more apprehensive at the fact that she'd be performing this mission with a human.
That in itself was foreign to her, even if the species wasn't quite as.
The fact that Sergeant Walker would be in her alt mode was extremely foreign to her. She'd never had a human (or anyone) in her cockpit before.
She shook off her anxiety, however. She'd spent a lifetime having to "shake it off"...and she'd certainly been able to hone that further the past few months. Between explosions, famines, and watching crew morale literally deteriorate in front of her, Skystone had kept more bottled up at once than she had since before she struck off on her own in self imposed isolation.
Sighing slightly, she turned to the monitor, curious to glean some information about this excursion. The human soldier held most of the details of the mission since it came from the human government.
Looked like they'd be staying in Nevada, which was always a little concerning. Having an alien organization like MECH stationed near where she and the troops were was never going to be a comforting thought.
Her alt-mode weaponry wasn’t especially powerful, but it’d do if she got caught. She wasn’t some flashy jet, but she was both fast and hopefully relatively inconspicuous in the air to an onlooker.
Overall, she felt prepared. She just hoped that her and her partner in this would work together well.
But taking it apart in her head wouldn’t do anymore good. Now it was time to simply be ready for the work to be done and not overthink it.
These thoughts in mind, she turned slightly towards the door, watching for Sergeant Walker.
