Name: Shadowrunner
Age (or human equivalent): early 20s
Gender (or human equivalent): femme/female
Faction: Autobot
Occupation/Specialization: recon
Appearance/Altmode: Shadow is a tall, lightly-built femme, standing taller than Bumblebee but massing slightly less. Her armor is black, with contrasting touches of her alt mode's chrome, and unlike most Autobots, her optics are golden yellow. Her alt mode is a black 1967 Chevy Impala.
History: Soon after tensions on Cybertron exploded into open warfare, the sparkling who would become known as Shadowrunner was created as the seventh member of a mid-caste cohort of physicists and engineers. Much loved by her cohort (who, as the war progressed, recognized she was likely to be the final addition to their number for some time), the enthusiastic, quick-witted young femme showed every indication of being sparked true to her function, with a high aptitude for applied engineering.
In spite of the war, her formative vorn were happy ones, with her close-knit cohort doing their best to ensure their youngest member did not suffer due to the timing of her creation. Unfortunately, they could not protect her forever, and an ill-fated outing with three other members of her cohort when she was the equivalent of a pre-teen left her alone and injured in the aftermath of a Decepticon assault. Unable to contact the rest of her cohort, she struggled to search for her missing cohortmates in what was left of the city, until she was finally approached by an older mech named Labyrinth.
Unknown to her cohort, she was one of several younglings Labyrinth had been keeping an eye on for reasons of his own. Her separation from her cohort, and the chaos surrounding the attack, proved the perfect opportunity for him to take her into his custody undetected; he wiped several key memory files, re-designated her Shadowrunner, and took her back to his mobile base, located far from the planet.
From this point on, Shadow was trained as part of an elite recon unit known as the Lucky Thirteen, under the command of Lt. Labyrinth, a mech whose original unit had been obliterated through the actions of a traitor in the ranks. Because of this, Labyrinth was fanatic about "protecting" the unit he hand picked and trained, leading to him to both isolate his team and keep potentially useful data for himself. As time progressed, he grew increasingly abusive in his efforts to ensure his team's loyalty, gradually breaking them to the point where they were incapable of acting without his direct orders, for fear of his unreasonable punishments.
The team's final mission involved gathering information on what, unknown to any of them but Labyrinth, was a potentially war-ending weapon created by the Fallen. The Decepticon infiltrator Barricade was sent to hunt them down and retrieve this information; over the course of decades he picked off three members of the unit and used the information he gleaned from them to attack and kill the rest on Labyrinth's ship once the lieutenant called them in from the field.
Shadow arrived at the rendezvous literally moments after Barricade killed the last member of her unit, and found Labyrinth still clinging to life. He transmitted his accumulated data to her with orders to get it to the Prime. Shadow was able to fight off Barricade's attack long enough to get to the ship he had used to infiltrate the meeting (a ship which still contained the corpse of one of her teammates), but Barricade pursued her and a brief space battle led to both both their ships being disabled.
Shadow crashed in Earth's San Juan Mountain Range in 1969; the combination of physical and emotional trauma scrambled most of the data packs Labyrinth entrusted to her, as well as leaving her with near total amnesia regarding her most recent mission and its aftermath, and disabling her weapon system. Disoriented and knowing she had no means of defending herself, she rarely left the alt mode she finally selected, allowing her system to repair as much damage as possible while she traveled extensively in both North and South America. During this time, she cannibalized her communication system to better work with Earth technology. While both her weapon and comm systems have been repaired since she joined up with the Autobots on Earth, she has kept her affinity for Earth's communication technology.
Personality: Shadow's training has left her ruthless, practical, and extremely private and withdrawn; she is also terrified of crossing or disappointing her superiors, and is therefore desperate for them to tell her precisely what to do. Instilled with the belief that she can have no ties outside of her unit, she has been resistant to the idea that forming ties to a new unit is even possible, and is very uncomfortable with the fact that the Autobots are nonetheless getting past her defenses, and while beingdragged adopted into a cohort has given her a vital point of stability, it has also triggered more than a little of Labyrinth's conditioning.
Likes: loud music, racing, cheesy monster movies, playing/roughhousing and cuddling up with her unit, weapons, organic animals
Dislikes: Barricade, boring music, obnoxious mechs
Strengths: speed, stealth, highly focused and adaptable in a mission setting
Weaknesses: difficulty trusting and adjusting to life outside of her original unit, limited firepower and a trained-in aversion to engaging in a fight if she can avoid it (Ironhide will be training this back out of her), a deep-seated belief that she is literally worthless without Labyrinth
Special skills: Shadow is trained in covert arts such as espionage and assassination. Although it was not her primary function in her unit, Shadow has a knack for putting together bits of information others would overlook (this is how she tracked the Autobots to the vicinity of Jasper, NV). She also has a better than average grasp of human technology, primarily due to watching it develop over the past four decades.
