We are a literate, intermediate to advanced AU Transformers RPG Based off of the first season of TFP with dashes of other incarnations sprinkled here or there. Characters from any continuity are welcome however must be restyled to match the TFPrime universe.
Active, with ongoing plotlines, we are always willing to integrate new characters into storylines once incorporated into the setting.
Yes, this is the Ask A Mod section. You may direct your questions here to be answered by one of the moderators or you can try to catch one of us in our public c box. You may also send a message to the mod email if you need a question answered away from the public forum.
Tried the email but it didn't work so it has to be here it seems.
I think this forum, unless I'm wrong, is set up more like a mush/mux/muck instead of the forums I have and do rp on where the whole rp is in 1 thread. Instead each location is a different thread and the whole forum is within 1 episode?
& the 2nd one, may get more later, do you think it's easier/better to try for an fc or an oc first?
Hi Kulstor - I'm not sure what's gone wrong with the email. TFP_RP@yahoo.com - maybe try it again?
But in any case, yes - this is not set up like the single thread forums. In my experience, we're set up more like a play-by-email game, only we have the luxury of separating out events by forum boards and threads instead of just by subject title. The whole site is one continuous storyline (we tend to be running one main episode, but people can always retroactively add in scenes to previous episodes as well). The forum sub-boards are locations, and inside each location is whatever events (threads) are taking place there.
Second item - Depends. How well do you know any of the TF canons? If you know one of them really well, and are attached to a character, feel free to translate that character into the Prime 'verse and run with that. Otherwise, an OC might be easier.

For your first question, I'm not actually sure how MUSHes etc work (I got into the internet thing RIGHT when those started declining in popularity) so Neko might be able to answer this, but from what I understand, yes, you are basically right. Each LOCATION is on a different board and each thread on that board is a different scene that happens in that location. Our episodes are site wide plots. So far we've made it though 1.5 plots ^^ (though we did start at 0).. The whole forum is probably more akin to a "show". You got the basic idea though. ^^
Second, its totally up to you. If you are able to do a canon character by all means, go for it! We have quite a few that need players. However, we do judge the applications of canons a bit more critically because these characters usually end up very involved with the evolution of the plot. We need to be sure that whoever applies for them can do the job. As for OCs, well, we ask that the character be reasonable for our universe, well though out and unique without being ridiculous/Mary sue-ish. As easy as that sounds, that can actually be very difficult for some people to do. We've seen some... interesting application attempts. ^^''
PERSONALLY, I think it might be a better idea to prove ones self by writing/playing a canon character very well for a period of time before applying for an OC. If we know you, your writing ability and trust you wont start god moding all over the place, we will be more apt to loosen the reigns when/if you make an OC.
That's my personal opinion though, it really does depend on you as the player. Some people prefer to start with an OC and work their way slowly into the group before applying for a Canon.
As for how much I know of the tf cannons, I've seen all the episodes of TF:Prime so far. Beast wars I've seen most of the season 1 episodes, though it's been a while, and some of the seasons 2 and 3. Seen the first 2 fansubtitled episodes of Beas wars 2 (or 2nd whichever it's called) the first fansubtitled of Beast Wars Neo. All of the g1 first 2 seasons, but that's been a while. Some episodes of the original dubbed version of Tf: Headmasters, Masterforce, & Victory, and 1 episode of the fandubbed Tf: Victory.
I did have 1 oc idea of a character on another forum for a tf:prime rp that someone was going to run before he went poof, but I'm easy either way, though a Tf: Prime FC I'd have to rewatch the episodes a lot likely I'd guess. Not sure if you go with stats and point costs like some tf mu* places do/did.
Well, there's no pop quiz as to what you've watched or not, though seeing TF:Prime is sort of required. ^_^ We break off from canon 3/4 through season 1 - we haven't gotten into the whole relics quest part.
You're welcome to app whatever sort of character you'd feel most comfortable playing. An OC, or a Prime canon character, or any Transformer from any series (though their histories have to be translated through Prime/Aligned canon). There's no stats or point costs for apping - there is a cap of four characters per person, max, with only three of them being Transformer canon characters, but you can pick whatever you like for your first app.
Overdone ideas for OC's - hackers, medics, engineers, faction switchers, and Decepticon officers only concerned with self advancement. Diversity of characters is wanted.
In the wanted characters the red labeled ones are adoptables. This means that character has been in play before, there are threads with them on the forums, and there may be existing plotlines with them in it. We will, by necessity, be much more critical of apps for those characters as we need good replacements players for them who can handle taking on a character that already has history.
All other wanted characters are ones which players have expressed an interest in having in the game - if you pick one, please contact the player who put up the wanted notice for further details. ^_^
We do tend to slant more towards the action/adventure/realism genre than silly. If you want to try apping, though, the mods can give feedback on what you're thinking about.
So the red wanted are very hard to get, I understand.
My idea is not for a silly acting oc, but the idea is silly. He is a planetologist from the golden age before they had space bridges. In a part of the history of the character I mentioned that his friend Upgrade was working no improving the land bridges so they could span interplanetary distances so folks like him would not have to travel through space to explore and survey other worlds. I had various ideas how he got to the modern age, and his alt mode/modes.
I could do a version of Perceptor, perhaps He seems to have knowledge of a wide variety of sciences, not just engineering like the g1 wheeljack. If you prefer I do a type of OC or somesuch like that instead of a wanted red or yellow character as a first type. Though I think it would make more sense for him to have a car altmode instead of a microscope since any needed telescopic and microscopic vision could be built in like some tools Ratchet has and the various weapons the others have.
Kulstor - I'm the only mod online right now. I'll get with everyone else tomorrow to see what they think of your idea. ^_^
We don't do multiple versions of the same character on this forum. OC's that are (very) loosely based off of a canon archtype are possible, but we're a little heavy on the sciences as well as the engineers right now.
Please continue to take a look around the site and get more of a feel for it. And try the mod email again if you want us to take a closer look at your ideas - might be a little easier than in a thread. ^_^
Sorry didn't see any list of taken characters, just wanted characters. I'll try to come up with an idea for an oc that fits. Since that seems like the better route to go then trying for an fc.
At worst I can simply do one based on the name nomad who just wonders everywhere. maybe with no idea of his true age, and doesn't really care of what his age is either.
