Name: Talon
Age (or human equivalent): 25
Gender (or human equivalent): Male
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Neutral
Occupation/Specialization: Bounty Hunter/Tracker
Appearance/Altmode: (head hits the green line) His alt mode is the Russian SU- 35; media.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_Su35b_KnAAPO_Pic_lg.jpg
Talon is a seeker, however he’s built more like a middle weight-fighter; compact and slim. His wings hug close to his back instead of sprawling out in the open. He isn’t extremely heavy; he’s the type of fighter that moves fast on his feet and uses the initial pulls and thrusts of his opponents to his advantage. That being said he’s more of a hand-to-hand kind of mech with some additional features that make up for long distance.
His optics are red, and are covered by a visor during combat. The initial appearance of his face is spiked at the back and slim at the front, guards coming down just past his jaw. His colors consist of white and light steely blues. He has his thrusters snug to his back, and his feet are fitted with hover-like capabilities that allow him to ‘glide’ on the earth like skates.
History:
Talon’s origin at the very brink of civil war in Cybertronian history, began as a calculated and planned effort to provide specialized military support. Those in command of the operation were seasoned arms dealers, working on the edges of political upheaval and offering the means to support and develop new weapons to the highest buyer. From birth Talon and several others were reared into a program, where their socialization became a matter of military habits and specialties. They would, in the future, be purposed with infiltration tasks or otherwise designed to accommodate their employer’s wishes (from special task group to hired body guards).
Talon and his assigned group had their lives bought by one of the dignitaries of Cybertronian society. Seeing how Orion Pax and Megatronus had gathered a fighting force to up heave the corrupted institutes of their society, they were used more or less as body guards due to the fighting that quickly took place and the revolution that started spinning out of control. Though as the world began to leave an impression on Talon, and as questions of identity and purpose surfaced into his otherwise institutionalized mind; he took the opportunity of letting his guard down, purposely leaving said dignitary vulnerable to the soldiers who sought to kill him. Without a sure desire to join the fighting, he regrouped with his peers and quickly made an escape outside and beyond city limits.
As the fighting escalated, Talon reserved his life to scavenging and killing for the sake of the blood lust inherent to him. During a routine raid, what was left of his teammates and himself were caught up in crossfire. Explosions knocked Talon unconscious. His limp body had found itself scavenged for by a crew of convicts, and mechs of all background aboard their ship The Dauntless. Resistant at first, Talon eventually found himself enlisted on the manifest. Here he was able to hone in onto his flight capabilities, and working with the mechs around him to pillage and steal as a ways to sell merchandise on the black market.
While the Dauntless loaded at a port, Talon came into contact with a bounty hunter whose background tied into the same facility Talon originated from. Beyond curiosity, Talon insisted that he partner up with him. After his persistence and after several close calls at the porting station they made a deal. Years passed, providing Talon more opportunities to develop his hand-to-hand combat, along with his weapons he eventually proved savvy considering his training. The two partners soon developed an efficient system for their work. Although, as time went Talon’s mind soon started to unravel; he became too impulsive, eager, and impatient during their assignments. After too many assignments gone awry, Talon’s partner decided to convince Talon that they would go after the mech responsible for the institutionalized programs. After following a lead and nearly at the cusp of their goal, Talon’s partner locked him away in his ship programmed to return to their base of operations. Talon was simply too unstable at this point, and his partner didn’t want to jeopardize the mission; believing that he could take it on his own without risking Talon’s life, along with his. Trapped, Talon was also ‘drugged’ and set on stasis for the return. “You have too much to live for, kid.”
The ship did not make it back however. It was thrown off course during a skirmish, with several operating devices damaged. The operating systems managed to direct the craft in its wounded state nonetheless, finding refuge in the small, young organic planet called Earth. A crash landing is made, and Talon is finally released from the vessel.
Personality: Talon doesn’t exhibit his emotions or thoughts very easily in the open. He prefers to keep to himself. Otherwise he has his quirks that often leave an impression of their own. He’s very neat, extremely organized; he keeps everything within a system and when that system is broken he starts to get edgy. In one way it allows him some sanity; organizing useless things from ammo to junk releases some of the tension that he has. Otherwise the occasional flight or training session does it for him. He does however suffer from something akin to post traumatic stress disorder. Without something to preoccupy his mind he starts to get restless. He’ll start tapping his fingers, or bouncing/shifting his legs until he has to really start moving again or else it gets worse. He’ll have the occasional, episodic dreams that prevent him from recharging, and at its worse he’ll blackout during fights.
He’s found a way to laugh at it though. Cynical by nature, he pokes fun at the world he’s still trying to wrap his head around. For him life is very much a game of survival, though at the same time he’s starting to differentiate himself from the very institutionalized world he grew up in. It takes time, he’ll have bursts of personality that seem off and unusual, but eventually they’ll progress into a stable form – and who knows what that might look like.
Something that’s caught his attention recently is the medical field. Other than having been trained purely in military affairs, Talon has found a desire to explore this aspect more than he’s been taught already (for example, the physiology that comes with a quick kill, patching himself up should access to a medic or med-lab be unavailable…).
Likes:
-The Cold: He associates it with a lack of feeling, with nothingness, it calms him
-Combat: It’s more than a lust affair for Talon. He feels at peace during combat, at home even despite the high intensity thrills and the initial anxiety that breaks through his senses.
Earth’s oceans, skies and music: There’s some perks about an organic planet, especially the scenery. And music; far from being chaotic clashes of sounds, Talon finds himself attracted to the many beats and movements of the earthling’s songs.
Dislikes: - Messes, especially in a controlled environment.
- Conformity: To some extent he values his freedom, so much that if he finds himself severely trapped it starts playing on his nerves, internally of course. It’s more of a symptom of his PTSD, and the training he went through as a youth.
-Traitors; having been betrayed himself Talon finds a certain irritability for these types of people, which really just stems from his inability to avenge himself.
-Moralists: There is no true right or wrong for Talon, it’s all relative to him. Those who claim a ‘good’ are merely disillusioned; their beliefs don’t apply to the real world.
Strengths/Weapons:
Aerial: In the sky Talon’s greatest asset is his agility. He doesn’t mind mid flight transforming in and out of modes to snag a wing or turbine with his weapons. He’s at home in the air, and quickly becomes an acrobatic amidst flight, always in the need to test himself
Ground: On the ground Talon relies on his speed, and again, agility to try to outthink and out maneuver his opponents. Instead of brute force he’s been trained to redirect and counter. He uses a shield attached to his left forearm, with a sword at his disposal on his back. He has two guns at his ready, which appear like pistols at most. He does carry missiles, which are used most often in flight, however can be utilized at his wrists. He can be used as a sniper as well, but he doesn’t have the equipment with him. He can carry other payloads such as bombs for the use of cover in combat, but then again, it is a matter of finding these materials.
Hand-to-hand combat: despite all else this is where Talon exceeds. He’s good with blades and his hands in close encounters versus long range attacks. His styles come with a combination between mixed martial arts and street fighting.
Weaknesses:
His tendencies to blackout; he’s apt to ignore orders, and disregard all means of his safety during these fits. It definitely leaves him vulnerable, although he is also his fiercest during this time. Perhaps it is his ‘carelessness’ during these episodes that allow an opponent to hit his mark.
Brute Strength: Also, Talon isn’t extremely strong head on, unless he can get an angle on his opponents.
Armor: His armor isn’t very strong either, and weaker at his joints- which although allow him a greater range of flexibility and range of motion.
Special skills (that are not weapon related):
Gliding: He can glide across the ground if he wishes, which allows him to gain speed on an offensive attack. On his feet there are hover-like materials that can be used given the situation, although they are not always in use.
Visor: allows him to pin-point energy signatures faster, and lock on to multiple targets
Extra Info:
The training facility used several methods to socialize their products into soldiers. With the use of experimental ‘drugs’ and methods of indoctrination they molded youths into special forces military personnel. Drugs blocked emotional responses for the youths, including the dampening of their feelings for empathy. As a result of this Talon’s capacity for empathy is very limited. He’s been able to become aware of how people empathize with one another, and often times he can act out responses that are expected of him given the chance or opportunity, but for the most part he has trouble reciprocating any emotional response himself. The drugs have elicited a psychological response to enjoy the pain of others, although Talon has been able to limit these instances with his blackouts, and PTSD symptoms. Often, these feelings ‘bleed’ out into his focus, but are most defined after his blackouts.
Some of the PTSD symptoms come more strongly in episodes and seem to ease off with time in recurring cycles. When experiencing an episode Talon won’t be able to sleep very much. He’ll be out most often, flying as much as he can; this leaves him vulnerable because he won’t be able to recharge well, leaving him very exhausted and more weak than usual. He is apt to lose focus, and may become more agitated and annoyed by small things.
