Name: Soundwave
Age (or human equivalent): Roughly equivalent to about mid to late fifies.
Gender (or human equivalent): Mech/Male
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Data Manipulator AKA Hacker
Occupation/Specialization: Communications/Security/Spymaster
Appearance/Altmode: Soundwave has a somewhat odd appearance, even as varied as the Cybertronian race is. His head comes up to about Megatron's chest and a couple feet higher than Starscream's head (which to a Cybertronian is like inches to a human). His arms are long and flat, blade shaped. His elbow is at a proportionally normal position at his chest, while his lower arm extends down to stop just above his ankles. He doesn't appear to exactly have hands, his spindly fingers attached almost directly to the rotational joint that would be his wrist. While he could be considered almost broad shouldered, in general he has a thin frame type, as is typical of fliers. His legs are long with an interesting knee. Instead of the normal, simple bend his lower leg attaches to the back of the joint, making it almost look backwards, or like the hind leg of a quadrupedal beast. He does not stand on the toe of his foot, however, standing flat footed on sharply pointed pedes. He is rather lightly armored and his purple bio lights can be seen on most places of his body. Lazerbeak docks on his chest and blends in well with what armor he does have. The simbiote is often mistaken for a part of it.
He does, however, wear a visor that hides his face. He never takes it off and it's entirely likely even Lord Megatron no longer remembers what he looks like. The visor is a flat screen that most often displays an audio waveform line, but will also show images, diagrams, text, etc, whenever Soundwave needs it to. It has been noted that Soundwave's "face"/visor resembles the Decepticon emblem...
The Decepticon spymaster's alternate mode is a surveillance drone, though the general appearance is slightly modified. It's much sleeker, the thruster is different, and his biolights are still visible.
History: Very few know anything about Soundwave's history before he became Megatron's patron, back when the warlord was still a gladiator. He rejected the caste he had been placed in and became a... data manipulator, a hacker. Even then he was a master at what he did and would sell his talents. But not for money, he could often steal that quite easily through hacking. More often he bartered, traded it for services, equipment, etc. He learned of Megatronus as soon as bots began talking about him on the Grid and quickly became intrigued. He saw potential in the gladiator. Here was someone that might actually be able to make a change, to turn Cybertron from the outdated and horribly flawed system it ran in. He began to fund him as his patron. He had all the money he could ever want with the press of a few buttons, after all, and no law enforcement could ever hope to track him.
It wasn't too long before Soundwave decided that Megatronus would, without a doubt, be the one to change things. He swore his undying loyalty to Megatronus and became chief among his followers, rarely seen far from his master's side if he hadn't been sent on... errands. Through everything he has remained loyal. When the foolish council gave that pest Orion Pax the title of Prime, as the war ravaged and ultimately destroyed their homeworld, and even now on this little dustball of a planet, he remains loyal to the one he believes will end this war.
Personality: Many would say that the communications officer had no personality. The mech is always calm and stoic, very, very rarely showing any trace of emotion. He does his very best to quash it all down, seeing absolutely no need for it. Instead it holds a possibility of compromising him. He's also very quiet. Actually he never speaks at all, preferring to use glyphs, sound clips, and other sources to communicate. After all, his own words could be twisted and used against him. Raw data and fact cannot. He's also under a self imposed vow of silence, but for what reason, no one knows. Soundwave is precise and practical in everything he does and always sure to do things in the most efficient manner possible. He's also a massive multi-tasker, especially when linked into cyberspace, his processor built specifically to handle shocking amounts of complex operations. This makes it easy for him to watch everything on the Nemesis, alongside constant surveillance of the planet. Nothing happens on the ship without him knowing about it, or soon finding out. Even Megatron himself can't hide much from him for too long. He is far too loyal to ever use that against the Decepticon warlord, however, instead making sure that others do not learn of what his master wants kept quiet.
He only truly answers to Megatron, simply tolerating Starscream as a superior officer, and fully believes that there can be no end to the war other than the warlord leading the Decepticons to victory. He does everything in his power to make sure this happens, protecting Megatron from threats both outside, and inside, watching enemy and ally alike. He's also pretty sneaky, able to move fairly quietly around the ship or slip in and out of data streams without leaving a trace. One might say he had pride in his superior skills; he would say that they're incorrect. He has no need for pride, it's simply a fact. Despite his best efforts, however, there is one thing that is sure to anger and offend him. Touching or tampering with anything that he views as his. Be it his personal items or the Nemesis database if you mess with it you've instantly earned his ire. He is also rather protective of his cassettes. They are his after all. And while this is typical of such bonds, it still seems to easily startle (and frighten) those that would dare mess with them.
Likes:
Quiet
Order
Being in control (not as in power but rather as in everything working as it should)
A job well done
His cassettes.
Dislikes:
Noise, especially when unnecessary
Chaos (unless he's the one that's caused it)
Interruptions
Idiots
Anyone touching what he considers to be his.
Strengths/Weapons:
-Master Hacker
It is highly possible that Soundwave is the best Cybertronian hacker. He has never encountered a computer that he couldn't crack, so long as he had the time he needed. He's also only ever come across one other that could possibly challenge him on the field of cyberspace and still considers that mech inferior.
-Battle Skill
Though he possesses no true weapons, Soundwave is still a very dangerous mech. He is fast and excellent at blocking attacks with his arms. Due to their shape they can be used to knock someone off balance rather easily, depending on their size next to his. He also has eight very strong and versatile tentacles used for both jacking himself into computers and throwing enemies around.
-Cool as a Cucumber
In situations that would have most mechs panicking, Soundwave is always completely calm. Explosions, gruesome deaths, ship crashes - none of it visibly fazed him. As such he's able to continue with his work quickly and efficiently, getting done what needs to be done when it's needed most.
-Bonded
Soundwave has three others that he has bonds with. Ravage, a Gestalt member, and Mindrazor and Lazerbeak, who are simbiotes. While he cannot share direct thoughts or messages with any of them, the bond allows him to determine the general direction the others are in, feel their emotional state to a degree, and, in the case of his simbiotes, feel any intense sensory input (pain/pleasure). He can also tell when something's wrong with them, though is unable to determine specifics through the bond. It is a very base and limited method of communication with his gestalt mate and simbiotes, but it cannot be blocked.
Weaknesses:
-Light Armor
Considering the fact that he is rarely active in physical combat the 'Con doesn't wear very heavy armor. Part of his skill is in dodging and blocking but a few good smacks from a heavy hitter, a well placed explosive, or just a thorough beating will take him down.
-HIS Things
The one sure way to anger Soundwave is to mess with his stuff. It's something that doesn't show often and it's normally well controlled, but if someone knows what buttons to push it could be used against him. It's a dangerous game but is probably his only emotional weakness.
-Awkward Arms
Due to the shape, proportions, and length of his arms there are some things that are rather difficult for him to do with them. Some things are hard to reach if they're on the back of a shelf, or in a crawlspace, or whatever. Sometimes it's difficult to reach certain spots on his own body with them. His tentacles usually compensate for this quite easily, but if for some reason he was unable to use them this could be a problem.
-Bonded
As stated above, Soundwave can feel any intense suffering his simbiotes suffer. And since the connection is unblockable he can't simply cut it off and must instead deal with it. Which he is very good at, but it does require a degree of his concentration, leaving him distracted. The more severe the pain, the more distracted he is. He will also
Special skills:
-Superior Scanners
Soundwave has a scanner range superior to that of most Cybertronians. He has yet to encounter another with his range and skill in detecting and pinpointing signals, anomalies, and disturbances. His scanners also yield more detailed and thorough information than most.
-Code Master
As stated above, Soundwave is the 'Con to go to if you want something hacked. He's also the one to contact if you want an encryption decoded. Given enough time there is nothing he can't crack, be it computers, codes, or anything in between.
