<<OOC: This little thread will start off in orbit, but end up in the Outback. Please feel free to join in.>>
In the cold, seemingly chaotic depths of space, there is some semblance of order. Such as it was in orbit around a dull red planet, fourth in line from its warming star. Its two remaining natural satellites silently screamed along their paths, ignoring their artificial brethren, placed there by outsiders. These false satellites in turn, ignored them, more focused upon the planet around which they hung.
As the Mars Polar Orbiter rose toward the Northern Pole of Mars, its sensitive instruments detected an odd energy reading...in orbit of all places. It sent this burst of data back home, silently awaiting instruction, even as it neared the point of the spacial oddity.
It would never receive, as that point in space erupted into a fount of stellar plasma, melting the craft in fires that far exceeded its operational capacity. However, though one machine died, another lived.
Amidst the rapidly fading stellar fires, a ship slipped away, taking position high above the cold, dry plains of the planet below.
Nova took several breems, her sensors spread as far as possible, to make sure she had not jumped into 'Con held territory. You'd have to have had your optics offline not to see that display. Even as she searched, her thoughts turned to the events that she had barely managed to escape.I held as long as I could...I just pray to Primus they got away alright.
Finding herself satisfactory alone, at least that was what she kept telling herself, Nova took a chance and activated her locator beacon. Hopefully, Primus willing, there was an Autobot outpost close by, else a Neutral.
