Shadowrunner admittedly didn't go out of her way to socialize with most of the Autobots, and the Autobots generally didn't push the issue. Still, her relationships with the others on base were cordial enough, and even if they hadn't been, it was a rare mech indeed who would argue his right to another hour of pure tedium when there was someone willing and able to take the job off his servos. Shadow's stated reasons had even been genuine: she wanted to catch Ironhide when he came back from patrol, and Ironhide had promised to upgrade her weapon system to something that posed more of a threat than "make the Cons laugh themselves to death." She simply didn't mention that the second reason had very little to do with the first.
Rhinox had just relieved her on monitor duty when the ground bridge opened and Ironhide returned. Given his patrol route and the local weather, he looked predictably tired, irritable, and muddy, with a long scrape across one shoulder, and a few new dents. Shadow logged a probable road wash-out along the route, pending Ironhide's report, then hurried to catch up with the big warrior, hoping the magic word "weapons" would counter at least "irritable", and possibly "tired" as well.
She fell in beside him, and even though her weapons were an excuse rather than her primary reason to want to talk to him, she didn't have to counterfeit the excitement running through her field. "I think I've decided what weapons upgrade I want to go with," she said, and told herself there was absolutely no harm in the little bounce which had snuck into her stride. "Do you have a few kliks to talk about it?"
