“I’m sorry, Rattrap, what am I looking for?”
The Prime was not exasperated. He wasn’t. The base generator had been operating outside optimal conversation levels for the past six months. Ratchet had been keeping the massive converter operational, an admirable job considering the technology powering their ground bridge was a jerry-rigged hybrid of human electricity and energon conversion units. The arrival of Team Axalon had been timely as the energy draw was costing their human benefactors in Fowler’s division more than was necessary and forcing the special agent to organize a review of Autobot power costs which was trouble they did not need.
So assigning the team of engineers to the task had seemed the most natural thing, but as they were still new arrivals to Earth and Team Prime, Optimus was making a point to check in with them on a regular basis to make sure they were settling in. The three engineers were amicable and talented. In the short time on assignment they’d corrected a majority of the energy issues and were tasked with optimization which meant tinkering with the generators and tools left… around apparently. Optimus was currently looking for a missing laser spanner which Rattrap assured him was… somewhere around the main generator unit.
He’d simply offered to retrieve the engineer’s tools while he was busy rewiring something at the control module but after a moment of looking the tool was not presenting itself. The Prime stood up from where he’d crouched to check between two battery mounts, glancing over his shoulder toward where Rattrap was modifying something at the control board.
“I don’t see anything. Could it have... rolled?”
