“Okay, just run out, get the thing, and come right back,” rumbled Bulkhead, clearly having developed a slight case of June Darby-ism in the last few day.
It was not really in Bulkhead’s nature to fret. He just wasn’t built for it, but lately things had gotten a bit… well, worth worrying about. In less than a week both Bumblebee and Bluestreak had been initially attacked by Cons. Ray Clancy, Bluestreak’s human pal, nearly bit it at Barricade’s psycho claws and Blaster had been dinged up protecting both him and the Sniper bot. It was probably personal bias but seeing Bumblebee torn open in the desert hadn’t done anything for his moral and Blue was still all dinged and dented. The new human, Ray, still was looking far to squishy for his liking… all the humans were lately.
Apparently, Ray's truck was out in the desert some where and he wanted to get it. The Low Jack in the car gave them its exact coordinate to drop them right beside it but it seemed like every time a Bot went out these days they got fragged or adopted a fragging Decepticon. Bumblebee and Shadow were still hanging around that data bot, Sniper, who (as far as he could tell) was still just venting glitched out gibberish. He revved impatiently.
“Bluestreak, you take longer than three minutes, I’m out there to just tow the fragging thing. Get me?”

Bluestreak wasn't exactly thrilled about going out of the base much either but it had to be done. Shifting into alt mode ou carefully wiggled on hir wheels before opening her door to Ray. "Don't worry Bulkhead it's just go out there get the car get back. We'll be okay what could possibly go wrong?"
Besides everything that is bur ou wasn't going to say that. No point in worrying either Bulkhead or Ray...Things would be okay...Ou hoped.
Bulkhead just rumbled disapprovingly and keyed the coordinates into the groundbridge, tugging the throw switch and activating the power core. With a hum the fractal burst of the groundbridge whorled open, laying open a pale green tunnel of tangled physics and light. The former Wrecker frowned at Ray. This Clancy guy seemed to be weathering all this slag with a dead man’s gameface, but humans were tough to read and running into a head-to-head with Barricade was a nightmare second only to running into one of his superiors.
“Barricade is a monster even by the standards of war and if he’s on Earth, he will be hunting any perceived allies. Fact. It’s how cowards like him function. So…” He thundered slightly. “Three minutes, Bluestreak.” Bulkhead revved as the little Fairlady rocketed off through the vortex. “THREE MINUTES!”
"Three minutes, Three minutes I get it!" Not that ou wasn't anxious but ou didn't want to make Ray more stressed than he already was. Stress was a bad thing for humans it seems. "We'll get it and get back before you even know it Bulkeahead"
With Ray safely buckled in the little grey mech drove through the ground bridge and out at the coordinates set.
Ray WAS, in fact, worried. This was the first time he had been out since Barricade had been let loose. The last thing he wanted was that maniac cop car to take a pass at him again. The stupid robot had it in for him.
This was perhaps the second time Ray had been through the groundbridge. It was always the most disorienting feeling to go through it and pop up at another destination. It always had a habit of making Ray mildly dizzy.
He suddenly found himself and Blue back out in the desert around where they first met.
"Hey... Bluestreak? Can I talk to you for a moment?" asked Ray.
"Yeah... I'm sorry we haven't had much chance to talk...after."
After ou;d been ripped apart, stuck in a med-bay foe what felt like forever. "It's okay now, we can talk while we get your truck. I suppose I don't have enough trunk space for all your alien watching tools. Will you need them though? You found Aliens or well...I kinda found you? Small universe some times. "
Ou was just talking to talk now, dissipate the nervous energy.
Ray undid his seat belt. Throughout the trip, he had to resist putting his hands on the steering wheel. It felt rather weird. He sat there unmoving staring at the steering wheel as though it might be Blue's face.
He gave it a funny look.
"Alien watching tools? The most I had for that is a guide book, binoculars and a camera. The rest is just everyday stuff, dude," said Ray, "Look! That's kinda not what I wanted to talk about, man. What I wanted to say was that... that I'm sorry for the mean stuff I said to you before, you know, psycho cop from mars found us."
Truth be told Bluestreak had been trying to avoid this talk. It hurt to think about. ..Still Ou supposed Ray was owed this at least. "I won't lie to you Ray I was hurt but... I understand . This war is huge and terrifying. It's all I've ever known and sometimes the thought of going out there and fighting scares me stiff but I'm a solider I CHOSE this." Never mind Megatron and his Decepticons didn't give anyone a choice. either choose a side or die. "You aren't you haven't. I don't know if you can escape it now but we can keep you as far away from it as possible."
Meanwhile, circling high in the air overhead and well out of sight, the Vehicon flyer, Manfred, was target locking the Nissan far, far below… but did not make any further move. He simply radioed his CO for this mission with a slightly amused, ::Soooo, Lieutenant Barricade? There is a silly little Bot and its squishie in the desert outskirts. It’s the Clancy man’s truck – they’re here to retrieve it.::
::Well then, I guess we should set up the welcome wagon. Keep them in your sights and when you’ve got a chance, do your thing.::
::Yes, sir, Barricade, sir.:: Clearly, Manfred enjoyed the hell out of his job.

That was the precise moment that Manfred, breaking a Mach 2 dive roll to earth, hooked up, transformed, and slammed to a vicious stop onto of Bluestreak’s roof. He smashed as fist into Bluestreak’s hood and emitted an ear-drum shattering burst of digi-talk at the horrified human The noisy static burst of Basic Cybertronian, clicks, subsonic chatter and beeps would mean nothing to the now deafened comic book clerk but to Bluestreak it mean the following:
“Whoops! Should have stayed/hid/played indoors! Time to die/scream/end.”
Then he lunged off the Autobot, grabbed Ray into his fist and transformed around him – his Vehicon frame bursting into a whirligig of parts and stringy physics and subspace before dropping the human trapped into his cock pit. “Later, Bot!” Then Manfred rocketed into the sky knowing that the little sniper bot, deadly as he was, didn’t dare open fire. His comms came online. ::Lieutenant Barricade. Package acquired.::
::Good work.:: The Saleen Mustang police car came screaming shortly from the around the rocky outcropping, fishtailed, exploded into transformation sequence and stood up as the Decepticon infiltrator, fully armed, plasma cannon already target locked on the little sniper-bot. He grinned, smile like murder looked if it could just be a smile. “Hey, Blue. Didn’t I tell you I’d finish what I started?”

If the horrible sounds Menfred made weren't enough to deafen Ray the screams of agony that escaped Bluestreak most certainly would have. Still the physical pain was nothing to the mental anguish of seeing Ray snatched from right in front of hir. Seeing Barricade and KNOWING this was only going to end one way.
Perhaps it was an accident that the Decepticon hadn't blocked hir comm systems this time. Though it's more likely that he had left it open knowing that there was no way anyone could get here in time.
::Help! Help! Mayday We've been attacked! Barricade has RAY!::
Blue's comm had Shadow up and moving toward the control room before she'd processed the words, reacting solely to the frantic glyphs accompanying the message. Her spark went cold at Barricade's name, and she was glad to find Bulkhead already had the ground bridge open when she entered the room.
She transformed on the move, roaring past Bulk and into the bridge, comming Bluestreak to let hir know backup was on the way. Behind her, she heard the roar of Bulkhead's engine as he followed her.
The warm gold of desert sun replaced the cooler light of the ground bridge, and she swerved around Blue, leaving room for Bulkhead to emerge behind her, transforming and targeting Barricade's grinning form. The Con was smug, standing out in the open with his weapons on Blue, and even from here she could feel how fragging self-satisfied he was.
"You okay, Blue?" she asked, daring to glance around the area when she heard Bulkhead transform on Blue's other side. No sign of the human anywhere. "Where's Ray?"
