Raf nodded as he listened to Bluestreak. He was already thinking about something else, something he needed to figure out how to do....but that would come later.
He frowned a little when Bluestreak mentioned the movie. What movie? He wasn’t entirely sure what the mech was talking about. There were a lot of movies, and the chance that any of them could have a character called Ralph was high. Main characters or minor. There was one about some guy who went around destroying things...some of the other kids in his class had gone, but Raf hadn’t been interested.
It didn’t really sound like a good story to make an entire movie out of, to him.
There were a million and one things that could go wrong with this....but they would have to be seen to as and if they arrived. Otherwise they would still be planning this time next month.
Raf politely waited as Bluestreak seemed to be talking to someone privately – that had been something all the kids had had to get used to. Sometimes when the Autobots looked like they were pondering the meaning of life, they were in fact talking to each other, or someone back at the base. It must be extremely handy.
When Bluestreak moved again, and spoke, telling him of Prime’s approval, Raf felt a strange wave of surprise and heat sweep over him. Prime was approving? He was actually going to let them do this? He didn’t want someone extra along to babysit him!?
Blushing brightly, Raf felt excitement move through him. Now they had to be successful! There was no way he was letting this end in disaster. Even if they came back with the news it was a bust, it would still be a successful mission.
It had to be!
He looked up, trying to seem more calm than he was feeling, answering Bluestreak.
“I guess you can pick me up at school if you want to see it. I might be a few minutes getting out, though, I need to see to something first, so don’t worry if all the other kids are gone before I come out. We can go from there, I guess, go to the place the meeting is at and see what’s going on before it actually starts. Maybe we can get some hints on who else is there.”
Raf fell silent for a minute, then spoke again, “I sure hope Bee doesn’t get upset he can’t come get me right now, it’s just not safe for him in the city, and I don’t want him to get in trouble. I miss him picking me up. I hope these Car Truther people leave soon.
Anyway, I’m going to go and finish up my homework now. I’ll see you tomorrow at my school, Bluestreak!”
Raf picked up his backpack, and slipped it on. He was so excited, he ran to the edge of the couch and managed to partly shimmy, partly dangle, and partly tumble to the floor, landing on his feet, then back onto his butt with an “Oof!” Not waiting for Bluestreak to ask if he was ok, he turned, and ran back out of the rec room, heading back towards where the children usually stayed in the Control Room, mind whirling with all the plans he had to make.
