Totally unaware that the Holoform had made an attempt at grabbing her ankle, she’d inch her way forwards a tiny bit more, wanting to stay in range so she could hear and respond to Optimus, but also push her luck in going as far as she could until then. Obviously, she didn’t plan on adventuring through the entire vent system right now, not with Optimus right there - that was rude! But boy oh boy she’d be back to adventure the moment she could now she’d been made aware of the vent and the tunnel system.
For now, she just wanted to see if it was even feasible. Crawl to the end of this particular straight part, make sure the passage to the left wasn’t blocked off.
“It seems pretty safe!”
She didn’t know it as fact, but this area she was in? Pretty solid! Optimus’ words about certain portions being unstable may have been true, buuuuuut she was totally willing to risk it. She was totally ready for anything!
...Except the noise that came from behind her a moment later that made her squeak in fear.
A quick, panicked glance over her shoulder to see what it was, her fight or flight response kicked in as she wasn’t expecting that at all and maybe some claustrophobia may have been setting in at seeing the Holoform wedging himself in after her - and rather than scream kicking Optimus’ boring dad!Holoform in the face, she scrambled forwards further into the vent, away from his lunged attempt to grab her and quickly closing the gap between herself and the end of this straight passage.
A glance to the left. Well, that passage wasn’t blocked but-
“Uuuuh. Optimus…”
For a moment, she vanished from his view - going down the left and only tunnel. Soft thuds echoed as she crawled on her hands and knees, a ominous moment of silence, before she would backtrack - he’d see her feet first as she crawled backward, then the rest of her. She was holding something in her arms, and it wasn’t the paper plane.
“There’s a Scraplet here!”
She’d tap-tap it on the top of its head with her knuckles. Its large optics were completely black, it didn’t seem to be doing much - it certainly wasn’t whirring angrily or even moving at all! It looked pretty inactive, maybe because it’d been stuck in a vent this entire time and ran out of energy.
“I think it’s dead!”
She knew how terrifying these things were to Cybertronian, but they couldn’t just leave it in the vent. What if it was actually just sleeping and woke up and managed to break out somehow now they’d disturbed it? What if there were more? The base had been crawling with them, what if there were stragglers that didn’t make it to the Arctic? This one needed to be disposed of somehow!
“Here!”
Without even thinking, she would give the Scraplet a hefty underarm throw, letting it roll doooooooown the vent passageway - straight toward Optimus’ holoform.
Think first, act later?
Yeah, that wasn’t Miko’s style.
