"-Waiting for Petrichor every time would take time that we probably would not have."
"Perhaps."
Contemplative yet almost dismissively direct. Optimus was not always the most expressive with his thoughts on things, letting some discussions hang to an end with silence, or letting events be boiled down to singular words, yet that did not mean he was truly casting the other mech's input aside. This showed in the way he appeared to be thinking through something, a lull taking place as his tired gaze shifted aside to his datapad on his desk which was lying dark and dormant.
"Should communications be incapacitated, then numerous options become available."
A full vicious assault had its benefits, though, if they could be quick enough to strike and disable the ability to report the crisis to the Nemesis... or whatever the Decepticons currently called home... then they may have even more time at their disposal. Stall, delay in any way possible... the discovery of a mine could be a silent event, or it could be combustive depending entirely on just who it was that stumbled upon it. That was likely a thing they had to consider, dedicating a portion of training in the direction of teaching the art of subtly to those who otherwise thought being delicate included a sledgehammer and a boisterous declaration of victory.
Optimus could think of more than a couple who likely believed as much.
"I hold no illusions we could pursue such endeavors in full, though surface yields may be within our grasp."
They could benefit so incredibly much from those who were focused further into such fields beyond geology, though the more industrial focused souls often were the ones that embraced Megatronus' rhetoric in full. Their oppressed nature was a swirling vortex that compelled so many to be swallowed by rebellion and madness, yet that did not mean all could be slotted into such a bracket. If they were lucky one sat out there who had yet to hear his call, one who could arrive with mining as a background which would gift them so very much. Such a blessing was unseen at this time, however, and to gaze at the sky willing whoever lay beyond the stars to show itself was a fool's errand.
After Optimus' more somber words, his weight would shift to his opposite side, the fingers of his right hand tapping faintly in thought against his palm, before curling once more into a loose fist.
"It is but one consideration we must balance among other threats."
If Energon was their only focus, it would be so much easier, unlike the cruel reality that they were stuck in a swirling miasma of dangers that circled them like sharks.
"Perhaps."
