::Get me a bead on him, Javelin!::
That was the plan.
One thing about flyers – they weren’t quiet. At all. And they didn’t realize how much of a disadvantage that gave them. Yes, sure, it’s fun to go thundering in and announce yourself like you’re some Grand Poo-Bah. But there was a lot to be said about being quiet and unseen.
At least at first.
As she had still been moving forward, the sound of the Decepticon’s transformation sounded, and that pinpointed her target even more.
Perfect.
Another step forward, and Javelin found herself peering up and out from the shadows of the treeline, towards the incoming Decepticon.
The blue scout sent a ping to Sunstreaker, giving GPS coordinates to the other femme, making it clear the target was inbound. She didn’t tell Sunny to take cover – no one got into any position of authority if they were too dense to seek shelter when under attack from above. Especially if you weren’t entirely sure just where they were.
Here we go.
Holding the odd-looking arrow in one hand, Javelin set her stance, legs slightly apart, left shoulder forward, holding the black bow by it’s worn silver grip.
With practiced ease, Javelin swung her right arm out and around, slamming the head of the arrow point first into the closest tree to her right.
On impact, the smaller orb positioned just behind the teardrop shaped arrowhead was rocked forward, forcing it to slam into the back of the arrowhead. With a quiet tink! the backside of the arrowhead and front rounded side of the second orb cracked – a spiderweb of lines radiating outward from their centers. The two orbs remained touching, the second one locked into place.
Her arrow now primed for detonation, Javelin nocked it, and in one single move, raised the bow, aimed, and fired, speeding towards her target. In particular, the Decepticon’s left wing.
Each rounded sphere on the arrow containing one of two highly volatile chemicals when mixed, if the arrow struck a solid object, both orbs would shatter, mixing the chemicals within, and driving the teardrop shaped arrowhead forward with great force, hard enough to warp or punch through metal.
A full Earth second after the arrow left her bow, Javelin was sprinting back into the cover of the treeline, moving right, clearing the area she had just been standing in.
That was the plan.
