Hearing Butch be cut off caused Nathan to turn around suddenly, his hand shooting down to the rubber grips of the revolver on his belt before he relaxed slightly upon seeing Butch was still alright...well...alright in the physical sense. His eyes instinctively followed hers up to the sky, unable to see what was wrong until he saw the contrails.
“Hm?”
Suddenly he was brought back to the moment, his head snapping back down to see Butch again.
“Oh...you were talking about your father. How he and I would probably get along.”
Should he bring up what had just happened? Or should he wait for Butch to bring it up? She was going to have to confront what had happened at some point, but was it really his place to force her into that kind of confrontation if she wasn’t ready for it?
No...but he could provide the opportunity.
“Let’s take a quick break real quick. I need some water and I want to see if I can get a better fix on our current location...check my notes.” he said.

"Oh, right," Butch said. "Yeah, you'd be two peas in a pod."
Nathan then suggested a break, and uneasily, Butch nodded. She didn't want to sit in the same place she'd seen the jet go by. It seemed to be passing along, however, not circling back like something in the back of her brain expected to. Not every jet is Cybertronian. She suddenly felt ashamed, and blinked away her hesitation.
"You want me to find a stump to sit on, or something?" Butch asked, already scanning the bushes for one. They were surrounded on either side by trees and waist-high scrub, which meant they'd scratch themselves up if they tried to go into it. That, as well as snakes or other creatures hiding in those bushes, made Butch wary of walking into it. She took a few steps ahead, squinting down the trail to see if she could spot something up ahead. The cleaner then turned to Nathan for further instruction, not seeing anything that could be immediately spotted.

“From what you’ve told me so far, I’d be inclined to agree. We’re both soldiers serving in the same elite force who enjoy the outdoors and hunting.” Nathan replied with a chuckle. Not that it was too surprising when you thought about it. The American military, and particularly the Special Forces, tended to attract the more rugged outdoor type of individuals. Not that there weren’t the occasional recruit from other circumstances, but they were usually pretty rare. That was both a strength and a drawback usually...
“No it’s okay. Besides the chances of us finding a stump to sit on out here aren’t exactly ones that I’d take.”
From where they were in the park, Nathan didn’t think that there were really any tree cutters that ventured out this far. Maybe the occasional person looking for the perfect Christmas tree, but he had purposely chosen this area because it was further away from the access roads that a tree cutter would need to bring their truck into the area.
As they moved along the path Nathan kept his head alternating between the ground and what was ahead, but his mind was busy churning over what he had just seen. In his line of work, it was expected that one would be taking fire. For a civilian though...it was a different thing.
“How have you been doing since...well...since you were brought in on the secret?” he asked after a moment.
