Rhinox chuckled sheepishly. "Sure." He turned his back to her and lowered himself carefully to one knee, one hand on the wall for support. "And thanks. I appreciate the help."
"I'm putting it on your tab," Shadow said, the words accompanied by teasing glyphs, humor in her field. She scrubbed the brush over his plating, paying careful attention to seams and gaps. It was...soothing, a reminder of having friends and cohort which didn't carry any bitter memories along, and the genuine good nature reflected in Rhinox's EMF wrapped comfortably around her.
"There," she said finally. "I think that's as good as we'll be able to do without starting to peel your armor off to get at your internals." She twisted a little, noting where the lingering bits of clay scraped the worst. "And if you could get the grit out of my shoulder rotors, I'd be grateful."

It took Rhinox a moment to respond, lulled to near stasis by Shadow's scrubbing. "Hmm... what? Oh, right." He heaved himself to his feet again, shaking some of the cleanser off his plating.
He took up the brush and gave it a quick rinse before turning to Shadow. "No need to stand on a box," he teased gently, "I can reach just fine."
Shadow's only answer was to loosen the plating across her upper back to give Rhinox better access, her optics offlining at the first touch of the brush. Rhinox had a deft touch, not treating her as fragile just because of their differences in framesize and armor.
But then, she had seen him with Rattrap and Airazor; he was obviously used to dealing with mecha far smaller than himself.
"So why the plants?" she asked, tipping her helm forward. "You're an engineer, aren't you?"
Rhinox contentedly went about his work, maneuvering the brush expertly along Shadow's exposed crevices. He'd done this for his teammates plenty of times, as much as they'd done it for him; general consensus among Team Axalon had been that he was the best with a scrub brush.
"It's a hobby," he shrugged, the brush never pausing. "I've always liked organic biology. And plants you can study up close without disrupting them. I like animals and humans too, but you have to keep your distance with them."
"Besides," he added thoughtfully, "they're pretty."
Shadow smiled a little at his answer. "They probably look better when they aren't covered in mud. You'll have to show me when you get them planted."
She shifted one shoulder experimentally, pleased to find that the joint moved almost freely again.
"If you're interested in humans, you should see if one of the kids will let you give them a ride into town. That way, you could observe, and the kids could explain the cultural significance from an insider perspective."
Rhinox positively lit up. "Could I? I didn't know anyone but their designated guardians were allowed. I'd love to, if they were willing." Glowing with the prospect of getting to squire around one or more of the children playing tourist, Rhinox angled the brush to get the last of the grit out of Shadow's shoulders.
"I'll definitely show you my flowers when they're planted," he promised. "Do you feel any more grit in your joints?"
"As far as I know, there isn't any rule that says the kids can't catch rides with the rest of us. I just don't think anyone ever asks."
Shadow luxuriated for a few more nano-kliks under Rhinox's expertly-wielded scrub brush, then settled her plating back into place. "I think you got it all. Thank you."
She stepped away from the spray, flicking cleanser off her plates. "I should go see if Jazz has anything he needs me for." The prospect didn't seem quite as intimidating as usual, and she turned to give Rhinox a parting smile, optics bright. "I can't wait to see the flowers when you have them planted." Oddly enough, she found she meant it, her field humming against his with sincerity until she was out of the room.
