::Count me in as a confirmed casualty of boredom:: Smokescreen said over the comms. He was so over sitting around in his alt-mode, doing nothing. Is this what the spooks did on their spying missions? It was so boring, how did they manage it.
He perked up a little as Bumblebee started to lay down the rules to Eye-Spy. So it was a game...where someone picked an object that they could see and then made other people guess what it was, with the only clue being the first letter of the object's name. Seemed pretty simple.
::Think I've got it, Bee:: Smokescreen said, only to realise Bee had stopped talking in the middle of sentence. Before the Autobot could get even the slightest bit worried, Bumblebee was back, gushing about a...friend?
Smokescreen didn't have time to think about it, his attention had been grabbed by the sound of approaching voices. After spending so long in the quiet, the loud laughter and rowdiness was a bit of a change. The Autobot focused on the road, in the distance, he could make out a group of humans moving about. They were pretty noisy and they moved...kinda reminded him of mecha who had gone at the high grade a little too hard.
He kept watch at their approach. Overcharged mecha could get up to some pretty dumb stuff and Smokescreen had a feeling drunk humans were the same. They didn't seem that old for the species, more on the young adult side of the spectrum. Which, according to what he'd been reading up on humans, was the prime part of their lives for poor decision making.
::Got some activity on my end:: Smokescreen said, his tone a touch amused. ::Bunch of humans that seem a tad overcharged. Will keep you both updated. Who knows, I might get to see one of them purge themselves::
It was easy to tell when they noticed him, there was a lot of sounds of appreciation going around. One of the humans broke off from the rest of them and actually walked up to him to run his hands on Smokescreen's alt-mode.
Woah there, that was getting a little too close and personal. The teenagers from before may have bounced their softballs on him but none had dared to actually touch him.
::Hopefully, not on me!:: Smokescreen added belatedly as the rest of the humans gathered round.
The Autobot listened to the conversation between the group. The first human -Trevor- seemed set on acquiring a vehicle just like Smokescreen's altmode. A reasonable desire, Smokescreen could understand it. His alt-mode was very sweet. And sure, it was hella pricey but it would be worth it. Don't buy something boring like a Camaro, Trevor. Go for a MacLren 12C.
Whoa, what was that? Smokescreen was jolted from musing about what Trevor's next ride should be to narrowing in on the human who had brought up hotwiring Smokescreen and driving to Mexico. Were these humans car thieves? She was standing right next to the window to his driver's seat. Smokescreen doublechecked that all his doors were locked.
::Uhhh hey, one of them just suggested stealing me and driving to Mexico:: Smokescreen reported over the comms. ::Not sure how serious they were about that - hey! Stop that!::
Without warning, Trevor had hauled himself on top of Smokescreen's hood. Seriously, dude! Hadn't this guy heard of personal space? Come on, Trevor. Get off.
Oh, oh, now they were taking pictures. Ugh, fine, but make it quick.
Jazz's advice came back to him about using his alarm to scare off humans. Smokescreen was highly tempted to follow it. But what if these were the car thieves and they freaked and didn't come back? That would mean more nights of waiting out for them to abduct Bee or Smokescreen, and he really didn't want to do this again.
He'd hold off on the alarm.
Unless more of them climbed on to him.
::Um, one's just jumped on my hood and now they're taking photos:: Smokescreen said, sounding confused. ::If this is a theft, it's a pretty weird one::
