Javelin’s optics continued to scan the area as she slowly stepped up into the second chamber. Holding up her torch again to try and highlight above her still didn’t really show her anything new, so she lowered it slightly, letting it hang near her hip.
The light from her torch cast shadows here, caused by the rough-hewn rock, the gouges in the floor looking like tiny craters on a moon. Javelin raised and lowered her lantern a few times, watching as the shadows danced and slid back and forth, her optics trying to seek out anything that moved in a funny manner. Wires and the like could often be discovered not by themselves, but by tell-tale shadows that moved when nothing should be moving.
She turned in a slow circle, taking it all in around her. A curious glance towards where the ramp continued to climb upwards, and another odd, uneasy peek up towards the ceiling. There was nothing to make her feel so uneasy about not seeing the roof, other than....not being able to see a roof.
Another quick look around, instinctively looking for traps, and she shook her head. It was highly unlikely this place would be trapped, but it was just second nature to her now. Her history of spelunking around old tombs and ruins back on Cybertron caused her to go into seek mode the minute she entered any underground, enclosed space.
Bumblebee’s inquiry startled her, causing her to take a stutter-step at his voice in the quiet of the mine.
Chuckling at herself, she raised her free servo and lightly tapped the half-sphere audial on the side of her helm. She walked around as she spoke.
:: Looks like new cuttings up here. Everything’s pretty rough, nothing’s rounded off. Floor’s all gouged up. The ramp keeps going up, not sure where to. There’s a new cut tunnel here. Looks real rough-cut. I’m thinking it may be one of the last cuts they made before bailing. I’m gonna check it out, maybe I’ll find fresher supplies here, or the last energon vein.::
Javelin reached out a servo and lightly drew her palm down over the rock wall at the entrance to the tunnel. The sharp edges scraped against her hand.
::It angles down. Not sure how thick this rock is – communication might get spotty in there. I’ll contact you in a few – if I can’t get through to you, I’ll head back.::
Javelin lowered her hand, but kept her line open in case Bumblebee gave her a contradictory order, but started into the tunnel in case he didn’t.
