Jetfire’s smile faded a little, thought he wasn’t completely without humor. He himself had tried to get a decent update on the in the Pit was going on with the war. His station in the Eradicon barracks at first seemed a blessing in disguise. It seemed like an easy way to get filled in on the current events he was so far behind on- without having to deal with the pleasantries of dealing with ranked mechs. This proved completely false very quickly, for the exact reasons Soledad was addressing. He’d given them their due lectures on the importance of dedication to their faction, and his own dose of history from the war… But he’s been largely ignored, or at the very least he noticed their optics glazing over as he made an attempt to explain politics that were several meta-cycles too old. He couldn’t imagine Soledad would be a better listener than them- she wasn’t even the same type of life form as he was. “They wouldn’t,” he agreed, to both their reluctance to be inquisitive as well as their ignorance. “It seems the education of our troops has taken a hit while I’ve been gone as well.” He looked distant for a moment, shaking his head slightly.
He’d never been part of any sort of infantry- he wasn’t a frontline battle-Seeker- just an expedition bot. Still, he’d known enough to keep his devotion to the cause, and he’d assumed the rest of the Decepticons were the same. Being stuck with the eradicons had given him a new perception on what the masses believed… and he began to doubt if it hadn’t been this way all along.
“I know… more than the Eradicons… but what I do know of the war is somewhat… dated,” and with that his humor was gone. Remembering all the time he’d lost was a heavy weight, and when the only familiar faces around were those of Ratbat, and the now infamous Starscream… “I’m trying to… decipher… the current state of the war myself, though I’m not sure if it’s changed all that much…” The war had gone for a long time, by his calculations. It seemed good that they all had held onto their ideals this fiercely- even so far as to take it off-planet… but how good was that? He wanted to be angry that the Autobots were so stubborn not to surrender. To take the war to the edge that they would destroy their own home planet but…
There was too much he didn’t know. He felt helpless being so ignorant, and he sagged- wings and components slowly bending down as he filed his processors with the complex intricacies of politics. In the presence of any other mech, he would have been more guarded, but for some reason, he let his EMF fill with the shaky waves of vulnerability.
“It certainly will change if Starscream is taking the place of our Lord Commander, I suppose…” he mumbled, pensive and confused. How pure were Starscream’s intentions, as far as furthering the Decepticon cause, anyway? How pure had Megatron’s been, before Jetfire returned?
OOC: Jets crashed shortly after the beginning of the war, so he’s been gone for most of it. I’m assuming he’s coming from the time where the idea of fighting had much more ‘romantic’ cause- hence why he’s so deluded.
Also, not sure if Soledad is supposed to know that Screamer is in charge, or Shadow for that matter, being in the vents. If it breaks plot to have them know, then I’ll edit!
