Character Info
Name: Wash
Age: Human equivalent would be late-thirties
Gender: Male
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Autobot
Occupation/Specialization: Undercover agent
Appearance/Altmode: A bot of average height and build, standing a head taller than Bumblebee. The front end of his car mode folds down into his chest while the doors rotate backwards over his shoulders. His chest is badly scarred, though the paint is fresh and neat. His armour is blue and grey, with canary-yellow accents. His optics are also yellow. He transforms into a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII RS.
Alternate Mode: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII RS
History: Wash will be the first to tell you that his background is pretty boring. He was forged in Iacon shortly before the war and assigned to a bureaucratic career with little delay, leading him to joke that he was born behind a desk. As the war progressed he transferred from Civic Management to the Autobot military administration, where he mostly served as a counter-intelligence officer. Eventually he was recruited by the Diplomatic Corps, who claimed that his sharp mind, pleasant demeanour, and aptitude for tact made him an ideal agent for the Corps, whose purpose was to muster support for the Autobot cause from other races in the galaxy.
For the rest of the war Wash was a rare presence on Cybertron. Official records from the Diplomatic Corps are vague, stating only that he was away on various assignments, ostensibly travelling between planets and space stations. Shortly after the Exodus he was a passenger on board a shuttle that was bombed while engaged in sub-light transit within the vicinity of Luna 2. Although most of the shuttle's occupants were killed, Wash was spaced and spared their fate, albeit with serious injuries. He was rescued by an unidentified Autobot ship, which disappeared into space shortly after.
Only during the past year has Wash finally reappeared again, perhaps this time for good. He has travelled to Earth to assist the small team of Autobots there as best he can, believing his diplomatic skills might serve them well as they adjust to life on a foreign planet. For two months he has been travelling the United States as a liaison, forging working relations between the Autobots and Agent Fowler's military contacts. Chances are he used his holomatter avatars to make all kinds of other useful connections as well, of a more dubious nature.
Personality: Wash is a good-natured bot, with a rather tongue-in-cheek sense of humour. He always tries to present a cheerful face to his fellow Autobots, whose company he genuinely enjoys. He is a good listener, a poker-faced wit, and happy to shoot the breeze with a friend.
However, despite his easy-going manner a darker and more clinical undercurrent runs beneath many of his words and actions. Wash is a diplomat to the core, and well aware that above all else his charm and sociable nature is a tool to be used to facilitate any mission he has been set to. This grants him the ability to mediate between parties as a calm and neutral agent.
Over time, Wash has developed a bit of a reckless streak. It mostly comes out in his alternate mode, which is a fast and agile rally racer - and he knows it. Though he is a loyal Autobot he is perfectly willing to lie, cheat, or steal to achieve his goals. To his credit he at least has the good grace to be embarrassed about it.
Likes: Conversation. Politics. Aliens. Human culture. Travelling. Puzzles and cryptography. Taking apart small devices and putting them back together again. Certain kinds of music. Wide open roads. Bright lights, big cities. Sci-fi movies. Rally racing.
Dislikes: Decepticons. Open conflict. Impatience. Slow drivers. Traffic. Classical music. Loud noises. Emotional outbursts. Romantic comedies.
Strengths: Intelligent. Shrewd and adaptable, with a talent for whipping up plans on the fly. Friendly. Focused. An experienced agent, accustomed to working in isolation when undercover as one of his holomatter avatars.
Though he is not a soldier, Wash is a solid marksman and has been trained in close-quarters combat in order to provide for his own defence. He is skilled, quick on his feet, and more than willing to fight dirty if he is unable to talk his way out of a confrontation. He is armed with a concealed pistol loaded with high-impact rounds, and a combat knife.
Weaknesses: Wash walked away from the Luna 2 shuttle bombing with severe damage to his chassis and spark case. He has only partially recovered from it: according to his medical records the explosion permanently damaged his spark. As a result Wash suffers from occasional arrhythmic spark fluctuations. His endurance is poor, and physical over-exertion can weaken him to the point of collapse.
It gets worse. In order to cope with the energy drain that goes together with his condition, Wash has fallen into the habit of injecting circuit speeders, a potent (and illegal) stimulant. He is now a functional addict. Although he is careful to keep this fact to himself, it is only a matter of time before the last of his hidden 'stash' runs out. It's not a day he is looking forward to.
Despite his status as an undercover agent, Wash is not an infiltrator. He has not been trained to penetrate Decepticon strongholds or defences. He has never grappled up a wall or crawled through a ventilation shaft in his life. It would probably destroy his knee joints.
Special skills: Wash is equipped with a sophisticated holomatter generator that allows him to create multiple solid-state avatars. He can use the generator to project a disguise for himself while transformed into his alternate mode as well, allowing him to adopt the appearance of any car that is close to his own shape and size. He cannot use the generator to disguise himself while he is in his robot mode, however. Too big, and too many moving parts.
Extra Info: The fact that Wash has been trained in both marksmanship and hand to hand combat suggests that the Diplomatic Corps might have been involved in a little more than mere ambassadorial duties.
