We are a literate, intermediate to advanced AU Transformers RPG Based off of the first season of TFP with dashes of other incarnations sprinkled here or there. Characters from any continuity are welcome however must be restyled to match the TFPrime universe.
Active, with ongoing plotlines, we are always willing to integrate new characters into storylines once incorporated into the setting.
As we have a developed MECH PC character in play (Thana), and the Mods are covering NPCing the other MECH agents, I would advise against this. There are behind-the-scenes happenings regarding the episode's plot that rely on MECH remaining under Mod control, and as this is an enemy that both factions are up against, it would be preferable (to me at least) that players not pick up 'temporary characters' within MECH's ranks.
I would like to avoid temporary characters at all, in fact, as they render the character slot and NPC rules (that this group has abided by in some form for 4 years) moot.
MECH is a pretty big faction in the game, and I for one would like to see its members treated as if they were just as important as the Autobots or Decepticons - that is, not render them into temporary NPCs or throwaway villains. I think it would fantastic to see their ranks filled with more dedicated PCs like Thana, who will be given proper treatment and development as fully-fledged characters themselves. Just because MECH are kind of a bunch of jerks doesn't mean they don't deserve to be portrayed with some depth to cement their status as a legitimate faction.
Can players apply for a PC MECH character? Absolutely! MECH will be around for a long time too; their involvement in the game is not limited to this one Episode. There is plenty of time to apply for a MECH character if someone wants to play a human baddy in that faction . But for now, the MECH ranks will be restricted to PCs only as we build them up and weave them into the game story.
And, like Krax, I would prefer to avoid the creation of recurring temporary characters as well, especially Bot/Con/MECH ones. NPCs, particularly ordinary everyday ones, are fantastic when you need to help fill out the inhabitants of a scene being played - because heck, it's a big world out there, and lots of peeps are wandering around through it - but at times they can tread close to becoming characters that are all but PCs in name, thus bypassing the character slot rules. I don't mind seeing humans, or even the Vehicons being NPCed at times, because sometimes you just really need a human to interact with your avatar, or Vehicon around to shoot at things XD. But NPCs can be a tricky thing to handle, and should always be treated with care, respect, and discretion.
I love human characters. Adore them in a TF world, trust me, they're some of my absolute favorites to watch interact and to interact with. However, I'm of the belief that any human character (be it MECH or otherwise) be treated with... well, the same respect you give a TF app. I am in whole hearted agreement over the choice to make MECH ranks PC only for now.
As for temporary characters, I would also prefer to avoid the recurring ones as much as possible, for the very reasons both the other mods stated above.
I just want to sort of touch on something here too -- that there are a lot of things going on in the background you don't see or may not be out among the public yet. Heck, they may not be in public for two or three further episodes, but we are setting groundwork to get there for you guys. They are conflicts we as mods (and GM's) set up for the players, and we sure do try!
Please remember we did a reboot recently, we've had to restart and reset from the ground up, and it's only been in the last month and a half that things are starting to really roll.
There are several things that we are trying to get established that will be there for player characters to deal with, to find out, and to... well, fight! XD Promise!
She's right: once the recent threads regarding MECH start to wrap up - including 'Close Encounters', 'You Lose, Good Day Sir!', 'Ghost Town', and 'Online, Off the Grid' - we will launch the next round of plot threads, which will include more conflict with MECH leading up to a large confrontation that will involve several special missions/side-plots for your characters . Felds and I shall be handling these threads, with help from the ever awesome Pen, but as much as we love to write tags we are only two people with day jobs, and therefore we humbly beg for patience from all of our lovely players <3. Thank you!
