A smile lit up both Velocity's mouth and her EMF pulsed faintly with happy pleasure. She always did love meeting new people, especially if there wasn't any fighting going on at the moment. This other femme, Serotype as she said she was, seemed decent enough at the moment. Sure she had jumped her but no harm had come and there had been a definite reason for her to do so.
"Yes I think you should at least make a plan to get out of this area. It is not safe for you to be here, me either now that I think about it." While Vel wasn't horrible in battle she preferred to stay out of it. She was not a heavy hitter but to make up for it she could take some pretty potent things. This particular femme preferred to attack from afar if she could help it.
Vel stopped then and looked the other over. Atone for her crimes? They were either large crimes or she just let things get to her too much. "I always found it was better to move on and make your life better and focus on the future then to worry about the past so much. You cannot make up for things already done but you can change your own future so they never happen again."
"I am trying to do something like that. Though for what I did, it is tough to forget. Therefore, it's important for me to right my wrongs," said Serotype, "or at the very least make up for what I was."
She looked to Velocity. Perhaps the answer was to go back to the Autobots as a prisoner? At least as a prisoner, life would be easier. She was a prisoner before. Becoming one again would certainly ease any burdens by staying out in the desert.
"I... do not wish to impose on you, Velocity and I sincerely hope that I do not offend you but do you think you can do me a favour? Would it be possible to arrest me or at the very least direct me to the nearest native settlement?" asked Serotype.
Velocity could understand wanting to make up for what you did in the past, for who you used to be. She had dome some really awful things in her own past, had been part of the very things that had torn things apart. Though the bad thing about it she still remained the same except for a few changes she thought were minor. Her loyalty was no longer to a cause but to the bot who earned it, and she wouldn't sacrifice herself for others anymore. The only way would be if they meant a lot to her and the only ones who had earned that were dead.
There was obviously something on the others mind and Vel took a step forward but otherwise remained relaxed. "Arrest you? sorry Serotype but I have no reason to. I can direct you however, that won't be too hard. Though I myself am not going that way for long so after awhile we shall have to part ways." She looked around and turned before taking a few steps. "How about we just start heading that way and you can talk if you need to talk on the way there."
No reason for arrest? This seemed unusual for Serotype. She was simply not used to seeing such things from an Autobot. If anything, she was taken back by Velocity's response.
"I thank you for your kindness. Then shall we go forth with care?" said Serotype, " I will need an extra set of optics to keep an eye on the skies. Early this morning, I saw some Eradicon search parties. No doubt they are still looking for me."
"Well you are welcome for my kindness." There was a slight quirk to her mouth at her own words but she didn't carry on about it. Velocity did miss having someone to verbally spar with. The time spent with the twins, though war time, was probably the best time of her life. Maybe she could have fun like that with other mechs as well but she wasn't so sure. Nothing against this femme, or any others, but her view on life was a tad different than it used to be.
"I will stay with you for a short while. Just perhaps to make sure we can clear this area if at all possible." Vel wanted to stay with the other longer but she was uncertain if that was a good idea or not. Usually she trusted her instincts, they were telling her not to dally for too long. While she didn't think that Serotype herself would be a problem, the other ones she mentioned definitely would be.
Oh what was with the Decepticon's and their fragging flyers?! Vel rolled her optics out of sheer frustration and nodded her helm. "Somehow I am not surprised, so we will need to play duck and cover with the overhangs of some of these rock walls." The tall femme did just that. Slipping close to one of the walls she got up close to it and peered up. All she could see was more rock. "Some of these will work, others will not. So we will pick and choose and keep an eye on everything."
Bright blue optics focused on the other femme and Velocity debated on just how much information she should give this other mech. Obviously she wasn't going to just start yammering on and spilling her entire life story but it would be impolite to say nothing at all. Even so she appeared thoughtful before she spoke and peered out to look up a moment.
"I roam, wander if you will. Check out areas most others wouldn't be without a real reason to. There was a lot of activity in this area so I thought to check it out." She was just glad she had been so cautious. Being curious and cautious didn't always go hand in hand with her and she tended to get herself into some messy situations. All those 'Cons would have been a big one. "I take it survival is going to be pretty high on your list about now. Though you may have both sides gunning for you if you don't remove that soon. Maybe now even?" One pointed finger indicated the Decepticon symbol.
Serotype's hand went back to her insigna on her chest.
"Yes. It would be most wise if this was gone," said Serotype.
She glanced up at the sky for a moment checking to see if there were any Eradicons over head. When she was satified, Serotype withdrew her blade and carefully placed it below her insignia. It didn't help that it was welded in place. She needed something thin to wedge under there and her blade was the thinnest thing she had at the moment. Though she had to be extremely careful in what she did. Afterall, there was a risk of beheading if this went wrong.
Vel hesitated a moment before doing or saying anything. She was having a discussion with herself on what she should or should not do for and with this femme she just met. Watching her struggle though wasn't exactly a past time that Velocity enjoyed. sure she didn't mind watching her enemies writhe and seethe and all sorts of fun things but this mech was a neutral for now and an acquaintance of hers.
Making the decision, which to her seemed to take for ever but in reality was only a few second, she moved. Peering up once more to make sure she wouldn't be seen she shifted and moved in front of the other femme. "Would you like help in removing that? I know you have no reason to trust me but I am offering the help all the same."
"If you think you can help me without this beheading me, you're welcome to it," said Serotype, "if you can hold on to the blade to make sure it doesn't slip that would certainly help."
As far as she knew, there were three components to her current insignia: two side pieces and one large piece. Getting it all off in one shot was wishful thinking. If she could get just a little bit under the welds that held that infernal insignia in place, she actually stood a chance in removing it.
"I'm sure I can help you, I have a very steady hand and a great attention to detail. I won't behead you, I have no reason to." Her tone was almost playful for a moment before she held a hand out for the blade and waited patiently for the other to give it to her. "I know you cannot trust me as of yet but I honestly wouldn't try and trick you like this it would be silly."
Though really Velocity was remarkably good at manipulation and lying, it came with being so heavily involved in politics for so long. Right now however that wasn't part of what was happening. If Serotype wanted to get rid of the insignia, and was officially done with being a Decepticon, Vel was all for helping the other femme.
Serotype really didn't have a reason to entirely distrust Velocity yet. If anything, the femme had a decent sense of humour. At this point, she didn't have much to lose by having Velocity assist her. Serotype looked at Velocity in the optics for a moment as if to read her as best as she could. She handed Velocity the blade for her to hold.
"Good to know I haven't given you a reason to," said Serotype, "hold on tight."
She carefully positioned herself over the tip of the blade wedging it slightly under the pointed end of her insignia. She had never attempted to try and remove her insignia before (and why would she prior to yesterday's events?) This was something to be best accomplished with a welder or a precision tool. This was very much akin to doing surgery with a hammer. Serotype was going to come down on her blade, albeit as carefully as she could to get under the insignia and pry it away.
She glanced at Velocity one more time before driving the blade deeper under that damned logo and started to use her body to pry it loose. Slowly bit by bit, the insignia started to pry away from her mesh. It took several minutes (which to her felt like several hours) to pry the first piece loose. It finally popped off and fell to the ground. The last two pieces came off much easier. They popped off and joined the first piece on the ground. Her mesh was a little sore and she felt... well... perhaps a little "naked" without something adorning her chest plate. But it was gone. And she was glad for it.
Serotype stood up and placed her fingers over the spot where her old Decepticon insignia used to be.
The femme's grip on the blade was as strong as she could manage. Thankfully she was used to having to hold on to things in dire situations, whether they be objects or other mechs. Not as physically strong as most bots her size she still was far from weak and didn't even budge while she held on to Serotype's knife. The other was trusting her to hold it still and there was no reason to purposefully slip up so she was almost like a statue the entire time, except for her mouth when she spoke to the other.
“I have never done something like this, does it hurt you?” Both curiosity and mild concern filtered through her field at her question and she looked back and forth to the other femme's face and just what was going on with the knife. She felt the need almost to touch her own symbol but resisted this urge as she was still holding the weapon and needing to be still. It definitely didn't look like it was comfortable but obviously the other thought that it was necessary. In such a situation as hers Velocity would agree.
Optics followed after the first piece that fell and studied it a moment. It was a piece of the past, a piece of just whom the mech in front of her was in many ways. Who she had been and who she would be after this was all said and done. Something like this would change a person.
“It is gone. A piece of your past freeing you for the future. You should bury it, symbolization.” Stepping back she flipped the knife in her hand and held it out, hilt first, for the other femme. “Now you really can move on with your life. I bet it must be rather a lighter feeling.”
"It's just a mesh wound. It will heal given time and treatment," said Serotype.
She took her blade back from Velocity and reattached it to her back. She scooped up the three insignia pieces from the sand. Serotype couldn't help but to glance back at Velocity when she suggested to bury them.
"When was the last time you have seen a Decepticon funeral? They seldom bury their dead," said Serotype.
However, she took a moment to think this one through. She wanted to throw them as hard and as far as she could. Cast them away so she could no longer see them. The only thing that kept her from doing that was the thoughts of Scatterdust. The mech she once knew was gone. Dead in a lot of ways. In an odd way, burial seemed appropriate.
Instead she kicked a hole in the sand and dropped the pieces in and covered it over. But something was missing. It felt incomplete to her. She paused for a moment as if to contemplate what was missing before she removed what looked like a brown papery bouquet - the corn bouquet she was given by Scatterdust. She placed it over top of where she had buried the insignia pieces.
"It is now complete. I think I am free," said Serotype.
“I would help you with the treatment part but I am no field medic.” In fact Vel knew she was rather useless when it came to anything dealing with healing which was yet another reason why she preferred to be a sniper, less chance for direct combat and therefore injury. So there was no help she would be able to offer and left it at that.
There was a time when Vel had seen a great many things people didn't think were possible but that was so long ago and so far away. “You are no longer a Decepticon. This is just a part of you that has passed.” Watching the other femme pick up the insignia she was struck with how life changing all of this may be. Sure she had mentioned it but it was really sent home with the pieces just being held the way they were.
She stayed silent as she watched Serotype decide on what to do then act it out. The only time this changed was a small sound at the sight of the odd little bouquet. Her head tilted to the side and she gave it the oddest of looks before shrugging and deciding not to pry on it. Obviously it too was part of her past, something she perhaps needed to let go. Though bouquet's were generally reserved for those you held in high affection...or so she believed. Velocity herself had never really received such a thing so she couldn't be entirely sure but she had known others who had. It always seemed so odd to her when others had family that loved them...or mechs that were not even close to being related.
There was a nod from her at the others words. “It will probably take awhile to really sink in. Let us start to move now and be away from it all, leaving the past behind. Time to move forward.” Though her words were almost philosophical she broke into a big grin and walked a few steps forward, peering back at the other. “No time like the present to be rid of the past right?”
