Mirage couldn't believe it, but he actually thought Miko had a good point.
He hadn't thought of what might happen if someone else were to stumble over the tracking device, if only because he couldn't imagine why anyone would be wandering off the road in the first place - there was nothing out there but dirt, shrubbery, and an assortment of rubbish carelessly tossed out of car windows.
But then, humans were perplexing creatures who performed strange and often arbitrary tasks for reasons he couldn’t begin to fathom. He assumed they had them, but to be perfectly honest, he wasn’t sure. Humans just seemed to do things without any rhyme or reason - or at least, they did from Mirage’s admittedly alien point of view.
Thankfully, Miko reminded him of her species’ nature before throwing the tracker out into the wilds for any hapless person to stumble across.
“Excellent point, Miko.”
He wasn’t being sarcastic either; that was a genuine compliment.
"I would love to! ...But I don't have anything to break it with. I doubt my shoes will do it." And even she could see the questionable logic of getting out on the side of the road to smash it with a rock. Most tech by these guys was built to last. A plain ol rock probably wouldn't do it.
"Besides, I think I've had enough adventure for one day. You do the honors." She held out the tracking device with one hand. What she would give right now for one of Wheeljack's grenades. Then they could properly send that thing off. With good riddance too.
But, she did get one good thing out of this mess. Mirage actually acknowledged one of her ideas! That was bound to never happen again! Or maybe this was the upswing of a new trend. Who knew?
While a grenade surely would have disposed of the device, Mirage was rather grateful they did not happen to have one at their disposal. Detonating explosives next to a busy road whilst they were trying to remain incognito would undermine the entire "stay hidden" aspect of evading their tail.
Hence why Mirage went for the far more subtle approach.
Transforming with practiced ease, Mirage returned to his root-mode in a short flurry of fluid movements, and carefully plucked the tracker from Miko's hand. After that, it was a simple matter of snapping the blasted little thing in half, then snapping those halves in half for good measure, before sub-spacing the remains so that they could be properly disposed of later.
"There we are. Problem solved." He said as he dusted off his hands against one another, before turning his attention back to Miko.
"Now then. Let's get you home, shall we?"
He didn't wait for a response before transforming once more, reverting back into his alt so that Miko could re-seat herself.
"Sounds good to me. And not a moment too soon." Miko was done with adventuring for the day. All she wanted was to get home, settle down on a couch, eat something not good for her, and then get Raf to help her on her home...work. Crap. She just knew her carefree attitude would come back to bite her in the butt.
She was oddly quiet while re-seating herself back in the car. One could say there was a fair level of sheepishness in her demeanor as she snapped the seatbelt around her. It wasn't like she didn't have a lot on her mind! She was due for a mistake or two! Besides, while the other students were busy with their stupid after school sports, she was being chased by giant Decepticons who got all stompy when they wanted to. So she could be excused for weighing her options and finding school very lacking in comparison.
"Ahm...funny thing. I may have forgotten my bookbag in the rush of excitement." She shrugged as if to say 'who knew, man. What ya gonna do.' "You any good at picking locks?"
There was no way the school would still be open after all this time.
Mirage echoed Miko's sentiment exactly: he too was tired of this day, and was all too ready for it to end. As much as he enjoyed having an excuse to be out and about, he had other things he would prefer to do with his time than running around aimlessly.
That said, he was less than pleased to hear that their day was not yet over.
Sighing, Mirage resisted the urge to chastise Miko for her forgetfulness and instead set about pulling back onto the highway, doing a u-turn once the road was clear so that he could turn back the way they came. That bookbag wasn't going to retrieve itself, after all.
"But of course." He replied, with just the faintest touch of tired irritation in his tone. "I would be a poor sort of spy if I wasn't, now wouldn't I?"
With that said, Mirage took off down the road, leaving the broken tracking device far behind them.
