Name/Alias: Ren
-CHARACTER INFO-
Name: Starscream
Age: Human equivalent would be mid 40's.
Gender: Male/Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Science personnel, Wing Commander of the Energon Seekers.
Occupation/Specialization: Second in Command of the Decepticons, Air Commander.
Appearance/Altmode:
Starscream is a tall, slim Seeker – coming up to just below Megatron's chassis in terms of height. Despite his position of second in command, he tends to stand with a notable slouch – although he tries to carry himself with an air of grace when attempting to command respect or addressing others. He's streamlined in both his forms, and while he isn't built for power? He excels in speed and agility. He has long, spindly limbs – his arms are longer than is proportional, and his legs taper down into small, high heel-like pedes. The wings of his alt mode rise up from his shoulders and the stabilizers are located at the backs of his shins. One of the engines of his alt-mode sits nestled between his wings on his back. His frame design is angled, with a lot of sharp points and edges. His face is narrow and long, with a bird-like crimson crest. He has long, delicate, clawed servos, and each arm is armed with small but powerful missiles – the launchers of which extend the length of his forearms. He's colored a mix of grays, blacks, and reds - with brilliant and expressive crimson optics like most other Decepticons.
Altmode: Starscream chooses a Modified F-16C Fighting Falcon Jet as his alt mode.
History:
Long before the War, Starscream was the Air Commander of the Vosnian Energon Seekers. Their role was simple and yet highly respected, due to the skills required to be in such a position. Not many had the privilege of being free to travel through space to distant planets searching for Energon, and so it was a lucrative position that Starscream took pride in and did very well at.
Being able to travel to such distant places sated Starscream's curious side – and he'd often go out of his way to gather foreign materials and organic matter to study when he wasn't busy commanding his Seekers. He found himself growing bored in the downtime between missions and excursions, and, wanting to keep his processor active? Would dabble with science. His intelligent and quick mind meant he excelled in this field, and he could've made a name for himself if he so chose, due to some of the groundbreaking and amazingly complex things he achieved. However, due to his secrecy and the fact that this mere 'hobby' would forever come second to the Seekers? Not many knew of his works – the majority of which were sadly lost during the invasion of Vos.
Cybertron had started to fall into chaos – a civil war between two factions had begun. Starscream in the onset of the war chose to remain neutral, biding his time and waiting for the opportune moment to decide which side would be the most beneficial to him and his future.
It didn't take long for him to make his choice. The city of Vos was invaded and bombed by the Decepticons – and Starscream quickly joined their ranks. He respected their sheer power, and quickly yielded to them out of cowardice - as they seemed to be the stronger, more successful force. Many of the Vosnian seekers following him out of loyalty and dedication to him. This proved to be beneficial for Starscream, as the Decepticons were victorious in many battles against the Autobots whenever he and the Seekers he led were present.
He found himself wanting more than just this position of leading the Seekers. Having seen what the Decepticons were capable of? He wanted to lead them for himself, finding Megatron's 'brute force' methods rather primitive and obsolete – and thanks to his intelligence, cunning and manipulative nature he quickly rose through the ranks. It did not take him long to be appointed second-in-command.
Here, he would bide his time. Calculating and scheming against Megatron, all the while playing loyal and submissive to him. His scheming and calculating methods paying off, and the Decepticons were on their path to victory – mostly due to his competency at managing the finer details of commanding and organizing the vast Decepticon armies.
During the later stages of the war, the Decepticons had kept their upper hand. The Autobot communications had been downed, and when they did manage to patch them together? They were easily infiltrated. The Autobots began relying on message couriers to communicate – and Starscream and his seekers took immense pleasure and joy in hunting down and killing these poor individuals.
One such message courier was the Autobot known as Bumblebee, and a pair of Decepticon soldiers managed to capture him alive at Tiger Pax. Here, Starscream got to witness and assist Megatron in his torture of the young bot as they tried to interrogate him – watching with glee as Bumblebee's voice capacitor was torn from his throat. What was the point in having a voice if you weren't going to use it, after all?
Many Joors later, Starscream found himself stationed in the Kaon Prison Complex in Decagon. The Autobots had somehow stabilized their communications, albeit briefly, and spies had reported back that they may be planning to breach the prison and rescue the many prisoners held captive in some last ditch attempt to win.
The spies were right, and it was the same message courier from before that was now playing hero. Unfortunately, Starscream had severely underestimated him, and after a slight altercation? Found himself overpowered. Fearing for his life, and panicked that Bumblebee was out for revenge - given Starscream had been there during the interrogation and brutal torture? He gave the young Autobot the location of the command panel so he could free the others.
Of course, Starscream was not stupid – and had directed Bumblebee into an ambush. One that Starscream sadly did not get to witness, as word had gotten out that the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime was planning a mass evacuation of the planet. Deeming this a higher priority than a few Autobots escaping – if they even escaped at all – he abandoned his post at the prison to try and stop the Autobots.
Sadly the Autobots managed to evacuate the majority of their forces – and the Decepticons were unable to work out where they were going.
Starscream took matters into his own hands, and intercepted a coded Autobot transmission that he assumed was to contact stragglers who hadn't boarded the Ark – and managed to trap Arcee and Cliffjumper before they could leave to join up with the rest. Just like he had done to Bumblebee, Starscream began interrogating the pair to try and extract information as to what the transmission contained. But sadly, just like Bumblebee? They did not talk.
Starscream, considering himself to be more intelligent and tactful than Megatron in his methods, took them to Shockwave so he could use a cortical psychic patch to gather the information. This was much easier than leaving them for dead like Megatron had done Bumblebee – and it worked in his favor, as Arcee revealed the transmission to be from Optimus Prime on a planet called Earth.
Cliffjumper questioned Starscream on his lack of bravery, which enraged the second in command – and he made a futile attempt to kill him. Sadly he was easily overpowered by Arcee. Now fearing for his life? He revealed to her what Shockwave was planning – which was to build a space bridge under Kaon. Thankfully it worked, and he escaped with his life – although was knocked out. He regained consciousness sadly too late, and the space bridge had been destroyed with both Autobots and Shockwave inside.
Starscream, now armed with the knowledge of where the Autobots had gone, decided to take the fight to them on this 'Earth' planet – although not right away. Ever cunning and tactful, he would bide his time.
Once on Earth, Starscream scouted an old Decepticon ship which had crash landed many years before. While he did not record the coordinates of the crash, or investigate it thoroughly? This was because he wanted to have a possible upper hand when the time came to rise up against Megatron – and a lack of evidence that the ship was there? Was less they could use against him.
As the Decepticon forces settled on Earth, Megatron had grand plans of gathering an army in space – leaving Starscream in charge to oversee things until he returned. Things were relatively calm, as they had not made their presence known to the Autobots. Earth, as it turned out, was rich with Energon due to both sides stashing deposits during the war - and so Starscream wasted no time in setting up a lucrative Energon mine – in secret.
Three years later, however, an Autobot had stumbled upon the Decepticons and their mission to find Energon on the planet. It was the one who had questioned Starscream's lack of bravery – Cliffjumper. The Vehicon troops managed to overpower the lone bot, and Starscream took immense joy in being the one to end his life.
Starscream's time of ruling the Decepticons sadly did not last, and Soundwave alerted him to a signal from deep space. Megatron had returned – and Starscream reluctantly opened a space bridge. What Megatron revealed to Starscream shocked and quite honestly appalled him. He had been gone for three years and had managed to find Dark Energon. Megatron asked if Starscream would be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice – in which Starscream nervously laughed, before informing Megatron that he had a welcome home present to use it on. Cliffjumper.
Once Cliffjumper had been 'onlined' by the Dark Energon, it didn't take long for things to take a turn for the worse. Savage and almost feral like, Cliffjumper attacked – and his signal had been traced by the Autobots who soon arrived on the scene to retrieve their comrade. Megatron ordered Starscream to blow up the facility, which he did.
After seeing what the Dark Energon could do, Starscream was wary – and made an attempt at convincing Megatron not to use it on himself. Megatron, lusting for more power, thrust the shard of Dark Energon into his very spark – and then left, leaving Starscream in charge once more with strict orders to do nothing but await his command.
Sadly, fate and luck intervened – and a transmission from a human named Fowler was intercepted. Starscream ordered his capture so he could interrogate him as to the whereabouts of the Autobot base – because while Megatron had ordered him to do nothing, imagine how proud he would be at his return to find Starscream had found out where the Autobots were hidden on Earth.
He was so close to getting the information needed, but the Autobots once again ruined his plans with the help of their human friends. Starscream opted to retreat, only to return when Megatron had once again returned to the ship – and Starscream was beaten for going against direct orders, thus delaying Megatron's plans. He managed to appease his master, however, by announcing that everything was, in fact, going to plan and he had ways to get things back on course.
The plan which Starscream had come up with was to have Soundwave use the Giant Sized Array radio telescope on Earth to set the target of the Space Bridge. Once located and targeted? Starscream opened it so that Megatron could hurl the shard of Dark Energon through. The Autobots had somehow gotten information when they had been on the ship, and knew of the Space Bridge – and so thwarted Megatron's plans – the Space Bridge exploding and taking Megatron with it.
All hail Starscream.
With the tragic loss of their leader? Starscream declared himself the new Lord of the Decepticons – and implored the troops to chant his name, an act that was not received well by many. So Starscream took Soundwave to try and revive more loyal soldiers, starting with the long-dormant Skyquake. To Starscream's disappointment? Skyquake had an undying loyalty to Megatron – even through death, and had no interest in following Starscream's rule.
A signal was detected shortly after from space – and Starscream left to go investigate, as it was the location of the Space Bridge explosion, and thus Megatron's body. Shocked to find that Megatron was still clinging to life? Starscream decided to end him once and for all – ripping the sliver of Dark Energon from him. Sadly, Soundwave did not trust the Seeker and had sent Laserbeak to observe – so Starscream was forced to return the gravely wounded Megatron back to the Nemesis.
Lacking a medic fit enough to even begin repairing Megatron, Starscream was forced to call in Knock Out and Breakdown for help. Thankfully, Knock Out was just as power-hungry as he – and so it didn't take the pair long to conspire against Megatron. He offered the medic the position of second-in-command if Knock Out played along with his plan, convincing Soundwave and the rest of the Decepticons that Megatron was all but lost. Due to the lack of brain activity shown from their fallen Warlord, and the fact Knock Out was a good sell? It seemed to be going to plan – and Starscream turned his attentions once more to furthering the Decepticon cause and set about constructing a heat ray, which he would use to melt a glacier to get to an Energon deposit.
Starscream's luck would soon run dry, however, and the Autobots not only arrived and destroyed the heat ray – but Megatron was resurrected from the brink of death and punished Starscream severely for his actions, to the point that the Seeker was confined to the infirmary for a short while, although this did not deter him from his plans.
Leaving the Nemesis once he was able, he fled to Skyquake's gravesite. Intending to resurrect the fallen warrior and also imbue himself with the Dark Energon he had stolen and stashed away – figuring it would give him the edge needed. Sadly it was not to be, and once again his plans were thwarted by the Autobots before he was forced to flee – losing his right arm in the process.
Meanwhile, another threat had emerged on Earth. The human collective known as MECH – and while Starscream was having his arm repaired by Knock Out? MECH had taken one of their own, Breakdown. Starscream suggested to Megatron that they rescue their comrade – but he was ultimately turned down, Megatron citing that the loss of one failure was not worth the risk.
Starscream took his chance, going to rescue Breakdown anyway with a small number of troops. The more Decepticons that Starscream had on his side, the better – and he knew that if he was to be successful in rescuing Breakdown, he would have both he and Knock Out on his side when the time came to take the Decepticons out from under Megatron once and for all. Luckily for Starscream, the Autobots – specifically Bulkhead – had already rescued Breakdown, so he got to take the glory in returning Breakdown to the ship despite not doing any of the hard work. It was the thought that counts.
Now, Starscream bides his time. Still unsatisfied with the power that he has – and constantly seeking more. Forever scheming and plotting ways to overthrow Megatron, be it through his own plans or through turning others against him.
Personality: Adaptable, Ambitious, Arrogant, Articulate, Calculating, Cowardly, Cunning, Determined, Egoistic, Impulsive, Insecure, Intelligent, Manipulative, Power-hungry, Prideful, Resilient, Ruthless, Sociopathic, Treacherous, Unpredictable, Wrathful.
Loyal and strong, an extension of Megatron's will. That's what one would expect the Second in Command of the almighty Decepticons to be. To serve without question, and to uphold the rules and reinforce the regulations and brutal punishments without wavering or a faltering second thought.
Sadly, Starscream is anything but. Well, not unless it helps aid his own personal advancement.
Starscream makes no secret of his ambition to overthrow Megatron and take command of the Decepticons for himself. He is not content with the power that he has been given, despite his lucrative positions of Second in Command and Air Commander of the Decepticons. He has a volatile, sometimes over emotional personality, and is ruthless, cold-blooded and somewhat cruel. He is acknowledged and valued for his intelligence and cunning – traits that have kept him both his rank and his life, even despite his openly treacherous and traitorous nature.
He is quick of wit, sophisticated, and believes the Decepticons should rely on tact, guile and underhanded methods to win battles, rather than primitive brute force; looking down upon Megatron for his rather obsolete and barbaric military strategies. Despite Starscream's intelligence and rank, he is often met with contempt from his comrades – and is always trying to find ways to inspire and gain respect from the troops.
He is constantly scheming, thinking up ways to overthrow Megatron and gain control for himself – while at the same time, he is forever looking for praise and approval, mostly to sate his own insecurities, but to also feed his massive ego and pride. The other side of this coin is that he can be overly sensitive and prone to lashing out when upset or if he feels he isn't getting enough credit for something he's achieved.
As for his achievements, he makes sure that everyone around him knows what he has done. A braggart. A gloater. Gleefully vindictive, he cannot resist the urge to flaunt his victories.
He has a tendency to overestimate his abilities and often finds himself in situations where he's bitten off more than he can chew. Yet he always seems to manage to manipulate those around him; either through feigning weakness just long enough to lure them in for an attack - or playing into their hands, giving them what they want - be it information or other knowledge, in exchange for his life. He is calculating, and everything he does has a purpose. Sure he gave the location of a rich Energon mine to the Autobots, but that only means a deadly trap can be set for when they arrive, and therefore further the Decepticon cause, for example.
He can be quite hypocritical – in that while he wouldn't hesitate to kill the helpless or unarmed, should he find himself unable to fight back? He begs for his life – often over dramatically and ungracefully. He has no shame in lowering himself below others should he need to. If he is shown a kindness? He will not forget, and will return the favor - should it benefit him, anyway.

Dislikes: Megatron, Competition, Failure, Autobots, Enclosed and Cramped Spaces, Being Underground, Being Touched, Cold Weather, Being Underwater.
Strengths/Weapons:
Air Superiority: Starscream isn't the Air Commander for nothing! He excels in flight, and it comes as natural to him as breathing does to humans. The sky is his domain and he rules it well.
Speed and Agility: Starscream is built for speed, and his streamlined and sleek frame means he is supremely agile. He cuts and climbs through the air with ease and superior acrobatic skill - flying circles around his opponents at dizzying speeds.
Deception and Deceit: He is smart enough to not allow himself to be goaded into a fight or situation where he will not come out on top, and should he find himself behind enemy lines? His silver tongue and knack for exploiting flaws and weaknesses of his enemy means he's usually able to quickly talk his way out of said situations. This also works on his Warlord, and with quick thinking and actions, he's able to downplay his treachery or backfired plans, twisting them around into his favor - thus appeasing his Warlords wrath.
Armed and Dangerous: On each of Starscream's forearms are small, but powerful missile launchers – they are able to pierce through most armor with relative ease. To fire these missiles, he simply aims, and bends his index digit. Should he find himself unable to use his launchers? He also has built in energon blasters which replace his servos – while not as strong as the missile launchers, they still pack quite a punch and can pierce through lighter armored individuals. When he does attack, it is usually not while he is facing an opponent. Preferring to attack from behind, or when it is least expected. He figures there is nothing wrong with cheating or being less than honorable in a fight, as long as he is the victor.
Angles and Claws: Starscream's talons may look delicate, but they are razor-sharp and strong enough to puncture some of the strongest armor. They are a last resort, should he have the unfortunate luck of finding himself in close-range combat with an enemy. His entire frame itself is composed of many angles and sharp edges – a well-placed knee or elbow and an unsuspecting foe could have their armor easily punctured.
Cowards Do Survive: Despite the ambitious facade, Starscream is little more than a coward. He'd never take on an opponent if it would mean certain death or grievous injury – and would rather flee from a fight if he knows he going to be at a disadvantage. This being said, every retreat is calculated and usually part of some grander scheme. It is a situational boon that more often than not works out in his favor – even if his comrades look down upon him for it.
Space Travel: Due to his former position of Commander of the Vosnian Seekers and the inter planetary travel that came with it? Starscream is more than comfortable flying around space – able to breach orbit on his own power, and survive the blasting chill of the void.
Weaknesses:
Not a team player: Starscream looks out for himself, and himself alone. He is untrustworthy of most others, and in turn – most others do not trust him. He is certainly not above throwing his own comrades to the wolves should he feel the tides are not turned in his favor – nor does he feel any remorse for doing so. Despite this, he can and will assist others should he feel it could benefit his own goals, both long and short term.
Light Armor: There is a downside to being streamlined and agile – and that is the light armor that comes with it. It doesn't take much to injure the delicate Seeker, and as such he tries to refrain from getting too close to his opponents in combat – relying on cheap shots, and preferring to fight with tact and wits, rather than brawn.
Do not question me, fool!: Despite being the Second in Command, he sometimes finds it hard to get any kind of respect from those below him. He has nobody to blame but himself – his cowardice, enormous ego, and treacherous ways mean he quite often doesn't receive the respect and trust he feels he so rightly deserves.
Shut up, Starscream!: The Decepticon second in command has an awful tendency at not being able to withhold information. If interrogated? He would crumble like a soda can – exchanging information freely in exchange for his life. He also loves to monolog. While most often this is internal, he does have a terribly bad habit of narrating his plans – as he's doing them.
Braggart: As intelligent as Starscream is, he is so very gleefully vindictive. He cannot resist the urge to brag and gloat above those he's downed or hurt in whatever way. This gives the enemy valuable time to recover and get in an extra attack if quick enough - as he has a tendency to enjoy rubbing it in a little too much, to the point he is blinded and distracted by it – don't forget, he killed Cliffjumper!
Self-Sabotage: His schemes and plots take months to calculate to the last detail – but despite his savviness, they seem to find a way of unraveling against him, and it is usually of his own doing as he's easily panicked.
Special Skills:
Science!: While Starscream no longer follows this 'career path' – he still has an inquisitive and curious mind, and tinkers in his spare time. He knows how things work, and should he need to? Has the ability to use his scientific skill as a weapon or to gain a situational advantage over others.
Intelligence & Cunning: Due to Starscream's background as a scientist, he is ridiculously smart. His processor is always working and calculating – and while some of his schemes may take months to reach their pinnacle or climax, every detail is planned and concise. He is the perfect strategist, and Megatron knows this – and he is often tasked with commanding or organizing the Decepticon forces as to best gain an advantage or upper hand.
Extra Info: All hail Starscream! (Also don't forget, I extinguished Cliffjumper's spark!)
