His stark white painted face does little to break up the cool tones of his armor and only seems to serve to make his eyes look even brighter of a blue than they actually are. Above those eyes with the point starting at the center is a blue chevron that splits off into two just above the middle of his eyes. The upper portion bends back and ends at sharp points, while the lower portion branches off into a near 90 degree angle downward and meets up with the grey cheek plates, which also angle back into points. A red crest stretches from the top portion of his forehead to the middle of the back of his head. Beneath the blue chevron, just above his eyes, is a slit from where the screens that go over his eyes slide down from.
Protecting his exposed silver neck cables is a high blue collar that stops just past his audials and ends in jutting points. Two high raised block panels stretch above his head a couple of feet with large yellow vents at the front. Upper arms are silver and forearms are dark grey, ending in blue servos. Alongside each forearm runs three parallel silver exhaust looking pipes with the ends tucking under the panels to connect to his weapon array. The front ends near his servos are open, which is where he fires his photon rounds from. At the other side are his front tires that are only half visible.
A flush chest plate adorns his Autobot insignia at the center of his purple flat panel. The rest of his upper chassis is red, save for the sides of his waist that are more of a peach-orange tone. Two pink-violet LED stripes run horizontal at either side of his waist then turn down towards the front. At the back is a blue winged spoiler, too large to be anything more than for show.
Upper legs are double layered, with the innermost being the same blue color of his waist. The outermost layer is purpple and cover the thigh area of the leg, leaving the inner portion able to be seen until it’s wrapped around halfway down the upper leg, then extends down to the knee joint. These joints are shielded by silver chevrons. Below these are his lower legs that are grey at the front and sides and are wrapped in three parallel silver pipes that start higher at the outer portions and lower at an angle to the fronts. The back of his lower legs is where his rear tire is tucked into. This panel is purple, feet are grey.
It was within this city that Hot Rod was constructed cold and came online ( though he called it more of ‘an awakening’ ).
In hopes of crushing a source of anti-government movements, the Senate set their sights on Nyon, well aware that it was Hot Rod and his supporters main base of operations. Military forces flooded into the city with orders to arrest Hot Rod and to eliminate anyone else who refused to surrender. Rather than see their city and her citizens fall to the Senate’s oppressive way, the insurgents had rigged Nyon with phase charges as a contingency plan in the case they were attacked. So when the troops advanced instead of turning back? The decision was made and Hot Rod set off the explosives, leaving nothing behind to be claimed.
After the fall of Nyon, the insurgents scattered and Hot Rod went into hiding, mainly to avoid being hunted down again and risk a repeat of the demolished city.
With the death of Zeta Prime and the appointment of Orion as Prime, Hot Rod had hoped that the opposing factions would be able to come to a resolve with the government having crumbled- a hope that was soon crushed when the war only seemed to escalate. Over time Hot Rod had become apathetic and maintained his unaffiliated status, finding that the need of factions to be worthless since it seemed that the conflict would never end in spite of which side became the victor.
Hot Rod was later apprehended by Decepticon forces during a raid at which point he was recognized by one who had once stood with him at Nyon. At his admission over his still burning anger towards the government and its supporters over the incident that led to the destruction of Nyon, the suggestion of him joining their forces was made and he agreed to consider it, at which point he was taken to Tiger Pax to speak with Megatron directly. Upon his arrival he was witness to the torture of Bumblebee at the hands of the Decepticon leader and was disgusted by the malicious act and while they had their attention diverted elsewhere, Hot Rod fled. Having concluded that Megatron was worse than even Zeta Prime had been- in spite of the direct assault on on his home- he had no doubt that such callous acts would be carried out on whoever opposed Megatron’s law. Deciding that the best way to prevent the Decepticons from winning the war and enacting their dictatorship was to join the side that stood in their way of complete takeover in an ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’ motif.
Though he found the physical side of his training to be rather easy, there were other parts of his training he found to be more difficult- particularly following orders to the ‘t’ and keeping his mouth shut. He could not take a sarcastic comment without firing one back and with some other Autobots making it clear that they weren’t about to let him forget about what happened to Nyon, he found himself involved in several fights. Such hot-headed reactions landed him with strikes on his record though he took all of them without excuse, feeling that he had earned them standing up for himself against ‘sore sports who couldn’t take having their scrap thrown back at them’. A veteran soldier was assigned to the young charge in an attempt to teach him to control his outbursts and to provide him with wisdom and advice when needed. Though to the soldier’s disgust, Hot Rod never felt that he needed any of it and usually just tuned out when he said something profound to him.
In the midst of traveling to their assignment to guard a facility on one of the neighboring planets, the small vessel carrying Hot Rod and his teacher became caught up in the crossfire of Decepticon and Autobot ships. It sustained heavy damage which rendered it unable to fly and the two were forced to evacuate in the escape pods onboard.
Hot Rod remained in stasis within the pod for an unknown amount of time, but he did eventually come to- but it was not to what he had expected. It was to the sight of unfamiliar faces in a foreign medical bay, neither Autobots nor Decepticons but Neutrals. Some time after his vessel had been lost he had been discovered floating in space and was returned to the Neutral planet to have his injuries sustained in the attack tended to. It was from them that he learned of the fate of Cybertron and, without any idea of where the Autobot leader was and for once without the guidance of his teacher- Hot Rod had no clue about where to go or what he was supposed to do. Unaware of the condition of his homeworld, Hot Rod made the decision to remain on their planet until he came up with other plans.
It was on this planet that he stayed until a familiar voice came across his channel- the Great Optimus Prime, whom he had been told of through stories fed to him by others. Though faint and requiring him to play it back several times to hear correctly, Hot Rod was able to pick up on the planet name and location to where the Autobots were ordered to convene. Now certain of where was supposed to go, he pled his case to the governing officials and was permitted to use their ground bridge- though only once, with the agreement that Hot Rod would never be able to return to their planet due to there being too much risk involved in their peaceful home being discovered and interrupted by the conflicts of the outside.
… though sightseeing a few of the awesome car shows first couldn’t hurt, right?

When one wants to find a physical embodiment of a stereotyped ‘rebellious teenager’, they need look no further than to Hot Rod. His overconfidence in his own abilities and in himself tends to walk a fine line that borders arrogance and he’ll think of anything he can to justify a poorly made decision being the right one just to get out of having to admit he was wrong. He’s impulsive and impatient and can’t stand to sit still for long periods of time. He’s easily distracted, especially when he’s supposed to be focusing on something important.
More often than not he ends up being too assertive for his own good and will throw up a metaphorical wall by means of crossing his arms when he’s told something he just doesn’t want to hear. The facade is a means to mask a deeply rooted inferiority complex, guilt triggers over the incident concerning Nyon, and has a surprisingly non existent level of self-esteem. Being confronted by any of those issues will unleash his much more verbally explosive reactive tendencies.
Hot Rod is still looking for his belonging within the Autobot faction and strongly believes they will prevail over the Decepticons. He remains fiercely loyal and dedicated to the Autobot family that’s forgiven his stupid actions time and time again.

Because, well, it’s Hot Rod.
Hot Rod is practically a walking space heater, with a heat that radiates from deep within his frame and makes his metal plates warm to the touch. There are several insulated chambers that are specially designed to maintain his hotter-than-normal core temperature, and through these the tubes carrying his energon passes through. This causes the energon itself to run hot, so if it ends up spilled don’t touch it! When needing to use his outlier ability, Hot Rod’s vents close and he raises his internal temperature until the energon in his lines becomes hot enough to burn and create a gas that feeds back through the lines into the chambers. In said chambers are specialized openings that are equipped with one-way valves that are forced open with the force of the built up gases. Here they are gathered until the heat causes it to reach the point where thermal runaway occurs and and eventually flash fire ensues. Panels separate enough for the flames to escape with the remaining unspent gases and he becomes surrounded in the supercharged flames. He can use this ability more than once, though it’s at a consequence since it does use the energon in his system which cannot be replenished on its own. He also causes damage to his frame each time he uses it, so excessive use is ill-advised.

While he’s not going to be notable for being excessively tall in stature ( just barely reaching Optimus’s chest ), Hot Rod is still an attention grabber for other reasons, one of which is through visual means. From head to toe, Hot Rod is a rather memorable color scheme ( in the way that bright colors would painfully burn their way into your memory and make you swear to never use them together ever ). He consists of red, yellow and a couple different tones of orange with a splash of grey and silver that act as adornments. While his frame is neither heavy or thick, several pieces do overlap over one another in strategic positions at particularly weak points. These overlapping pieces gives him a medium grade level of protection from opposing weaponry and allows for him to take at least a couple hits to his plated sections without being pierced clear through, but a strategically placed shot to his joints would be crippling. To say Hot Rod is a little showy is an understatement, and to go right along with his screaming paint job is an equally loud vehicle mode. It’s fast, it’s expensive, and it’s a showstopper. The Koenigsegg One is in a class of its own and the smug look from Hot Rod’s holoform each time someone comments on it on the road lets them know that yes- Hot Rod DOES know just how cool he looks. The vehicle is entirely purple with a blue winged spoiler and triple pipes running horizontal along either side is one to be admired. Whether it’s the speed just under 300mph and beautiful angularity that cuts through the wind like butter, or the hefty 9-digit price tag, it’s sure to turn heads.✧ H I S T O R Y ✧

Nyon was a prominent Torus-City on Cybertron and was regarded as an epitomized shining example of a prosperous city. At its epicenter stood the Acroplex- one of Cybertron’s capitals during its Golden Age- with interior labyrinths housing several spiritual elements that included a shrine dedicated to the Matrix of Leadership. With Iacon becoming the beacon of Cybertron’s glory and all attention turning to it to retain that, Nyon fell to the wayside and was neglected, leaving its citizens to fend for themselves. Without any means to enforce the law and all energy deposits being ordered to be distributed elsewhere by Zeta Prime and his corrupt Autobot Government, the city of Nyon became nothing more than a rustic slum. Soon enough he became the voice for the Nyon citizens and a leader of sorts of the insurgents who resided there. He took a strong stand against Zeta Prime’s and his Senate dogs and was not afraid to call them out for what he considered to be a self-serving interest with complete ignorance to anyone other than themselves and believed they should have been in service of the Cybertronian people instead of it being the other way around. Though his belief was a strong one and his threats of overturning the rule of the Senate was shared by the Decepticons, Hot Rod refused to team up with the terroristic movement. Safety within the Academy where training could be patiently given was in short order. With the increasing need for troops to guard against the Decepticons, the Academy was inevitably shut down and the students placed in active squadrons. Hot Rod remained under the guidance of his teacher throughout his various assignments, which were minor at request of the retired Vet and mostly revolved around some form of guard duty. Having arrived on Earth in Marin, California, Hot Rod carried out the first order of business to declare an alt mode. Now he just needs to figure out this strange new planet that the Autobots have come to call home and let those on his team who have already made it here that he’s done so as well- and hope that no Decepticons find him first.… though sightseeing a few of the awesome car shows first couldn’t hurt, right?

Hot Rod is quick on his feet in either of his modes, though it’s much more valuable to him in his bot mode. Unpredictable
It would be foolish to believe you could foresee how Hot Rod would react to a situation with 100 percent certainty. How he reacts to a situation can vary from one instant to the next depending on his mood. His impulse to act this way does make him highly unpredictable since one never knows what mood will be at the forefront to sway his decisions- a good trait to have when facing down opponents, but not so great when needing to follow a strategy.🗲 G O 🗲 S P E E D 🗲 R A C E R, 🗲 G O! 🗲
Speed
A lightweight frame makes it possible to reach high rate of speeds rather quickly with an aerodynamic shape that cuts through the air like a knife and reduces drag. He’s able to push close to 300mph by Earth standards and he doesn’t like to put on his brakes if he doesn’t have to. His low to the ground positioning with a wide undercarriage and a superior handling system allows for him to keep all four wheels on the ground when faced with a wide turn. Having a quick giddy-up-and-go is beneficial on a long stretch of open road, but Hot Rod rarely climbs to his top speed unless he’s showing off or it’s absolutely necessary. 🗲 W H A T ' S 🗲 'T O O 🗲 C O L D'? 🗲
Cold Climate Resistance
A plus to being ‘hot blooded’ is that you develop a tolerance, even so much as a preference, to colder climates. While most Cybertronians would start to malfunction after a short time of exposure to excessively cold climates, Hot Rod can withstand them for much longer time frames. 🗲 C A N' T 🗲 T O U C H 🗲 T H I S 🗲
Fire Resistant Plating
Hot Rod’s frame was created to withstand excessive amounts of heat. His protoform and spark chamber are lined with layers upon layers of fire-resistant materials that are thin, light, and densely packed , similar to those of a copolymer modacrylic material. These keep his higher than normal core temperature from virtually melting him from the inside out, though he does require moments to expel ‘hot air’ from his vents from time to time. Forearm Mounted Photon Rifles
Hot Rod has a triple barrel photon rifles mounted on both of his forearms. These fire high voltages of electricity that can travel long distances at excessive speed. While up close they can pack a powerful punch, the further the target the lesser the impact. He has had extensive training in distance firing and (when he manages to keep his focus) he has a decent level of accuracy. He isn’t going to blast a hole in anyone’s chassis at these distances, though they can temporarily disrupt normal functions by sending surges of electricity through one’s frame to disable a motor skill or two such as walking or being able to use their optics. Having these mounted to his forearms means his hands are left free to be used since he doesn’t have to hold onto it, and that it can’t be knocked away from him. Limitations to distance are within a half mile, since anything outside of that would feel like you’re being attacked with an airzooka instead of punched with an electrical surge that you won’t forget.🗲 I 🗲 S E E 🗲 Y O U! 🗲
Optic screened binocular vision
When activated, Hot Rod has two screens that slide down over his optics that provide him with binocular vision. These allow for Hot Rod to zoom in on his focal point to get an up close view of what he’s looking at. They can also scan targets in the field of vision and provide information on distance between he and a target. This is a particularly good tool to have when needing to scout out a location, as he doesn’t have to drive right up to it and make his presence known. ✧ W E A K N E S S E S ✧

Arrogance
Hand-in-hand with his hubris nature, Hot Rod has the arrogance to go with it, giving a double whammy to anyone having to deal with him. He strongly believes everything he does is right and simply will not hear otherwise. He feels that his life experiences alone has earned him some place of entitlement and that anything someone else can do, he can automatically do better- and he has no shame in stepping out and rudely stating so in everyone’s face, sometimes to the point of sheer mockery and belittlement.Because, well, it’s Hot Rod.

Egotistical Pride / Hubris
There’s no secret that Hot Rod is… well… a hot shot and he doesn’t grasp the concept of conceding, whether it be to a fight or an argument. He believes that his abilities far exceed what he is actually capable of and can often times oversteps. He does have talents, but he just refuses to admit that there is a limit to what he can actually do. This can be easily exploited since it also means he will rarely ( more like never ) back down from a challenge- even one that unicorns wouldn’t be able to accomplish, because Hot Rod simply believes he can.🗲 O O P S ? 🗲
Impulsiveness
Hot Rod doesn’t have much forethought when it comes to decision making. Due to his tendency to act on whatever he’s feeling at the moment instead of actually thinking about the consequences of his actions, they more often than not lead to careless mistakes that otherwise could have been avoided and reckless behavior.🗲 D I D 🗲 YOU 🗲 HAVE 🗲 TO 🗲 GO 🗲 THERE? 🗲
Guilt
The events of Nyon are a memory that plague him. Though it was taken under careful consideration and was deemed as ‘the right thing to do’, it doesn’t make the guilt any less of an issue. It’s a sensitive subject to him and, should it be mentioned, his childish actions would lead him to come completely undone and after an explosive response he’d rather be left alone to vent and cool off. He’s just not yet over the hurdle yet.🗲 W H O 🗲 T U R N E D 🗲 U P 🗲 T H E 🗲 H E A T ? 🗲
Sensitivity To High Heats
Because Hot Rod runs warmer than most others, he has to be able to cycle out the built up hot air and intake cooler air from his surrounding environment. High temperatures only make him run hotter and if he’s left without a lower temperature in the surrounding air to intake he will eventually pass out from heat stroke.🗲 I S 🗲 I T 🗲 H O T 🗲 I N 🗲 H E R E? 🗲
Need Of Constant Ventilation
The large vents on his shoulders seem to be nothing more than a comical placement, though they do serve a purpose: Hot air rises. Due to Hot Rod’s high core temperature, he requires to be constantly cycling air through his shoulder vents to prevent him from overheating. If these become clogged, blocked, or somehow malfunction he has to place himself in a cool environment or drive around to manually lower it. Failure to do so can result in a thermal runaway occurring without him intending do, which is just bad news for everyone. 🗲 I 🗲 J U S T 🗲 N E E D 🗲 T O 🗲 R E S T . . . 🗲
Energy Consumption
The mentality of the energizer bunny doesn’t mean that the physicality of it is there as well. Hot Rod’s stubbornness will push himself all day long and can maintain driving at a reasonable speed for a fairly decent amount of time. When it comes to him reaching the highest point of speed, he burns through energy like he’s got a hole in his supply line. He will begin to run hot under the hood after about fifteen to twenty minutes and should he ignore the warnings about the heat it won’t take long after that for his system to go into a stasis lock just to prevent crippling, irreversible damage.🗲 S O 🗲 W H A T 🗲 N O W ? 🗲
Lack of Experience
Once he graduated from the Academy he was assigned to guard duty and scouting missions which kept him from being directly involved in actual combat. While it allowed his superiors to keep an eye on him while shaping him into a proper soldier, the lack of experience also means he’s not conditioned for whatever combat he may run into now. Limited Combat Style
Hot Rod’s arsenal consists of his photon rifles… and that’s about where it ends. He’s left fairly open should someone get up close, as he’s not exactly trained to duke it out in hand-to-hand fighting. While his photon rifles are useful at close range, should they be disabled he’s pretty much a sitting duck if all means of escape are blocked. 🗲 I 🗲 J U S T 🗲 D O N' T 🗲 B E N D 🗲 T H A T 🗲 W A Y 🗲
Limited Waist Turn-ability
Small, lightweight mechs like him usually are supposed to be flexible, right? Something about getting in and out of weird spaces and that? Unfortunately, Hot Rod missed that memo. With being top heavy means his waist is reinforced so that he can move without snapping himself in half and, as a result, he isn’t able to twist and turn with a lot of ease. If an opponent gets behind him he has to rely on his footwork to face them, as turning at the waist is almost hysterically limited when he has to turn around- having to pivot instead. 🗲 T H A T' S 🗲 C H E A T I N G ! 🗲
Exposed Joints / Thinner Layering
This porcupine of a mech is built for speed, but he’s not entirely light weight and proportioned rather oddly. He is top and bottom heavy in the places that are needed- over his chassis where his spark and advanced cooling lines are located, as well as his excessively sized pedes to keep his center point of gravity perfectly poised over them so he doesn’t topple over. Unfortunately, those two areas mean that, for him to be able to be a little speed demon, he’s lost padding in other areas. Knees and elbow joints are pretty much out in the open for anyone who wants to take a pop shot, and the areas of his upper arms and legs are not as layered up as his chassis. Even though he has little chevron pieces at the needs and extended forearm panels to protect these areas from direct hit, they are not reinforced well enough to be able to take much of one.🗲 O N E 🗲 W A Y 🗲 T R A I N 🗲 O N 🗲 A 🗲 C O L L I S I O N 🗲 C O U R S E 🗲
Speed
While speed is a valuable asset to have, it’s can also be a downfall. Reaching an excessive speed is good for the open road but not so much for cruising around cities or neighborhoods, and paired with Hot Rod’s temptation to be a lead footed show off with an ego it’s a dangerous combination. If anything is thrown in Hot Rod’s path where he has to turn without enough time to put on the brakes, it will result in a nasty roll over that’s sure to cause a lot of damage. With that in mind, he doesn’t push it to his limit unless absolutely necessary.✧ S P E C I A L S K I L L S ✧

Motivational
Not having the best diction doesn’t stop Hot Rod from being a decent motivational speaker. He always has heart behind what he says which makes a great pitch to the masses when he wants to rally others together. Being a great motivational speaker isn’t always about knowing the fancy big words or delivering long speeches… it’s just about being a smooth talker with the right tone behind what’s being said. Also, keep in mind, there are various types of ‘motivation’, and this isn’t always gonna end up with a great rallying cry to arms as much as a drive for someone to punch him in the face for throwing someone under the bus for their snoring habits...🗲 C A T C H 🗲 M E 🗲 I F 🗲 Y O U 🗲 C A N! 🗲
Freerunning / Parkour
Limitations on weapons can prove to be dangerous when faced with an opponent, but Hot Rod has a special skill under his sleeve. As an insurgent Hot Rod had to learn how to use his environment to get out of tight spots in emergency situations. In the Academy he was able to hone this skill and it eventually developed into an invaluable asset. He is able to use his environment to fluidly move through obstacles with vaults, climbs, flips and other acrobatic means. Basically, he’s developed a showy way to get himself out of trouble. Imagine a raccoon scaling the side of a building. A big, loud, the-80’s-just-called-and-want-their-everything-back, raccoon...🗲 S U P ? 🗲
Flame-Out / Flame On ( Outlier )
Hot Rod is an outlier, so when he talks about ‘flame out’ or ‘flame on’, he’s not talking about his paint ob. 'Flame on' may have started as a joke, but it's really no laughing matter when it's actually activated. Hot Rod has the ability to suddenly erupt into a ball of flames, which can maim or severely damage anyone foolish enough to stand too close to him. It's only able to last about five or six seconds at most, and the longer it runs the more energon that is used to power it. This is usually left as a last resort as it's taxing to his systems and will often cause him to lose all motor functions for a period of time. If it's pushed to the full extent, Hot Rod will spend all of his energy and will slip into stasis for several days while his systems recover.✧ X T R A I N F O ✧

The fact that Hot Rod an outlier isn’t something that he goes around and announces, even though the rarity of his kind would present him with a badge of honor that one would assume he’d like to collect, though it’s the history of what outliers endured that keeps him silent about it- even so much as not telling the Autobot Leader about it. Don’t let his thoughts of self-preservation around keeping it hidden suggest that it’s anything he’s ashamed it and has even given it a name of ‘Flame Out’ when used, though it’s only usually done as a last resort. When it is used it’s a spectacle worth watching- from a safe distance, of course.Hot Rod is practically a walking space heater, with a heat that radiates from deep within his frame and makes his metal plates warm to the touch. There are several insulated chambers that are specially designed to maintain his hotter-than-normal core temperature, and through these the tubes carrying his energon passes through. This causes the energon itself to run hot, so if it ends up spilled don’t touch it! When needing to use his outlier ability, Hot Rod’s vents close and he raises his internal temperature until the energon in his lines becomes hot enough to burn and create a gas that feeds back through the lines into the chambers. In said chambers are specialized openings that are equipped with one-way valves that are forced open with the force of the built up gases. Here they are gathered until the heat causes it to reach the point where thermal runaway occurs and and eventually flash fire ensues. Panels separate enough for the flames to escape with the remaining unspent gases and he becomes surrounded in the supercharged flames. He can use this ability more than once, though it’s at a consequence since it does use the energon in his system which cannot be replenished on its own. He also causes damage to his frame each time he uses it, so excessive use is ill-advised.
