Player: Askira
Name: Blue
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Species: Cybertronian (weapon cassette)
Faction: Neutral
Original Occupation:
Pupil at the educational center next to the Well of All Sparks.
Occupation/Specialization: Scavenger and thief, specialized on high end security systems and the infiltration of small outposts. He also teaches himself to be a scientist specialized in biology and chemistry, which is his true passion. He currently is on student level
Appearance:
His robot form is slim and agile about 8.2 feet high humanoid with green optics. The main color of his plating is blue with silver as a secondary color. There are three spikes on each of his forearms, that form the spikes at the barrel of the nullray he transforms into. Those spikes can move in the way that they’re able to flare out or be clamped down. Within them in a hidden compartment there are some forced entry tools for emergencies.
His current weapon form is a Cybertronian nullray, a cannon that can be either attached to a mount on the forearm of his host. It’s looking like a futuristic energy rifle that sports an angular design except for the round barrel. On the sides of the weapons body there are louvers that dispel heat generated with the weapon. On the front there are six movable spikes that are used to gather and focus the energy for the next shot. They also can disperse the energy if the shot would be aborted after the weapon would have been charged.
Altmode: nullray (cassette mode)
Pertinent History:
NMK28 was created less than a year before the Cybertronian civil war began. Being a weapon cassette had sealed his fate and dictated his place within the caste system from the first day he had been taken to the education center adjacent to the Well of AllSparks. He was to receive basic education and then given to a high ranking member of military or law enforcement as a reward for their good work and be force bonded to them. The fact that he was a highly intelligent mech with an aptitude for science didn’t count since weapon formers weren’t meant to be scientists, but servants and intelligent arms at their owner’s disposal. NMK28, not liking this fate had planned to take in as much knowledge as possible, as he loved to learn and understand things, and then flee from the education center, before his education would be finished, and he would be sent to his owner. While in school he didn’t have many friends, since most of the other residents had looked down on him for just being a weapon former. Often his presence wasn’t even noticed, and he liked it this way. He wasn’t interested in the others, and he preferred to be left to his own devices. Since he wasn’t entitled to anything but the most basic education needed to be a good servant he soon had started to use his small size and the fact that people tended to ignore him in order to skulk around within the education center in order to gain access to school materials for higher education, that was normally exclusive for the high casts. After his elopement from the educational center and his fate he had planned to find some place called Crystal City, he had been reading about - a place dedicated to higher education and science - hoping to find someone there who would take him in, so he could learn more.
However, before NMK28 could put his plan into action, the war had reached the Well of AllSparks and the adjacent education center. The area had quickly become one of the most embattled areas on the planet after the outbreak of the war. The reason for this was that each faction wanted to claim the newly created offspring for its side. NMK28 benefited from its small size during the raids, which allowed it to hide and eventually steal away, while quite a few of its classmates lost their lives because they either answered incorrectly or slowly when asked which side they would join. Ones far enough away from the education center, NMK28 decided to make his way across the lands towards Crystal City, following his original plan.
After years of perilous journey, he finally found the ruins of the destroyed Crystal City, where he set himself up a small underground home in one of the underground science facilities. On his forays he gathered everything he needed from the ruins and abandoned underground facilities, but he also frequently visited the ruins of the Cities academies. There he searched for lab-materials, recordings of lessons or datapads, holding notes or scientific articles and over time, he had built himself his own library and lab, where he worked on recreating the experiments he had been reading about, to learn more and eventually started to create his own experiments. He had made himself a strict work plan with times for watching the lectures of most likely dead professors and teachers, lab work and homework composed of reading into certain topics and writing down small papers and frequently tested his knowledge. There were however also set times for work, as energon, datapads and lab equipment didn’t just fly into his home.
On his scavenging trips into the underground research facilities in order to gather more and better equipment and materials for his lab and more knowledge he more and more often came across areas that he wasn’t able to enter. Seeing this as something not acceptable to him he started to figure out, how to bypass those security systems. He also traded some forced entry tools for weapons he’d found.
After having stripped the academies of anything useful to him he started to advanced into more and more secure areas of the underground research facilities and over time refined his skills to turn off or bypass security systems. At some point he even started looking for new challenges for his skills, taking a small souvenir from every place he visited. He liked the underground labs, not just because he found new knowledge or a new challenge for his skills, but because they felt save, as they were far away from the surface, where the dangers of the ongoing war and other people in general were lurking. So he had moved his home deeper underground and started to go to the surface less and less, aborting every contact to other people. He only went out to find energon.
As energon grew ever scarcer he had to steal it from others. And so he started to extended his forays into occupied areas, where he often not only found energon but also other useful things or things he might be able to trade some time in the future. He took a liking in this new challenge to steal something from other people, which needed careful planning, mostly because every time he returned to the safety of his home it felt like a victory - not only over those he’d stolen from, but over his mind and frame as well, which had started to react badly to being outside or around other people. The rest of the time he spent within his lab, following the education plan he’d made for himself in order to, one day become a real scientist just as great as his idols.
It all went well until he was caught stealing energon from a small Decepticons outpost by a seeker. It was the first time he had met a seeker, and he had clearly underestimated his sensors. But instead of taking him prisoner and turning him over to the base commander, the seeker had pity with the scared little creature. The seeker didn't think long before deciding to join forces with NMK28 and desert. He was tired of the war and since the destruction of his home Vos and the associated almost genocide of his species, he really had nothing to fight for in his opinion, anyway. And running away with the little Neutral gave him a perspective for a life away from the Decepticons.
NMK28 was named Blue by the seeker, whose name was Bladewing, because everyone deserved and needed a name.
The two of them made their living by scavenging ruins and the wrecks of ships floating in orbit around Cybertron, or steeling from small outposts and then exchanging their findings for energon or other goods. They turned out to be a rather good team. Blue, had become an expert at infiltration and finding valuable things, while Bladewing acted as his personal transport and protector should things go wrong. After a few hundred years they choose to bond their sparks and become host (Bladewing) and symbiont (Blue). Blue had some contacts to the Autobot-faction, while Bladewing still knew some seekers he’d known from since before the war and who didn't think of him as a traitor for deserting. This gave them the opportunity to do a job for the one faction or the other from time to time.
Somehow that had gotten them a price on their heads and a quite promising wreak turned out to be a trap in form of fully operational heavily armed shuttle. Taken by surprise Bladewing took a shot to his wing. Due to his injury he'd been unable to outrun the bounty hunter’s shuttle — not by a long run. So Bladewing fled to the only place, where he thought he would be able to lose his pursuer. The old space bridges. Most Cybertronians feared them because people tended to disappear around them. But the shuttle’d followed them regardless leaving him only one other option: Flying into one of the unstable vortexes appearing and disappearing randomly around the bridges and hope for the best. It landed them, on a foreign planet far away from Cybertron. Having been separated and thrown into stasis by the effects of the unstable vortex they were oblivious to the vorns passing by.
Personality:
He isn't the bravest person, in fact he's quite easily frightened, especially if other Cybertronians are involved, due to his agoraphobia. So if he had a choice he would choose to hide over any other option almost every time. The only reason he would stand up to fight or approach other people on his own would be his host being in danger.
He is very curious though and loves to learn new things and then brag with his knowledge. (His main bragging victim is Bladewing, even though his host doesn’t even understand half of it.) For Blue learning is his personal way of escaping reality - at least for some time.
As far as other people are concerned, Blue is very careful, shy and easily frightened, so it's extremely hard to gain his trust.
The only person he truly trusts is Bladewing. This goes so far, that he would most of the time, when other people are involved, pretend to be just Bladewing’s weapon or hide. But it’s not really a bad thing to him, since he’s more of a loner anyway. He knows though that it can sometimes be beneficial to work with others or accept help.
Having been created at the beginning of the war and it being a normal part of his life, he's numbed to most of its horrors - at least as long as they happen to other people than him or his host, making him seem quite callous to those who don't know him.
Likes:
Silence: Noises are almost always the vanguards of danger, also he can concentrate better when all is silent around him.
Staying unnoticed: It gives him a sense of security. As long as no one notices him no one can get ideas capturing and enslaving or killing him. The fear of being enslaved is a remnant of his time before having bonded with Bladewing and is therefore somewhat irrational.
Experimenting: While he enjoys the challenges of a difficult theft, science and research are his true passions.
Shockwave and Perceptor: The two are Blue’s idols as they’re the most brilliant minds of their time. He has read all their papers and any notes and studies that were stored away within the databases of the underground labs of Crystal City.
Dislikes:
Both Autobots and Decepticons: He sees them both likewise responsible for the destruction and the death of Cybertron.
Sudden loud noises: Sudden loud noises mean danger, death and destruction. A lesson he’d learned the hard way.
Crowds: Blue has always been more of a loner, but having lived almost his whole life alone and in hiding made things worse and having to share a room with three or more other people is very stressful for him.
Open spaces without cover: In a war, open spaces are your worst enemy.
War: It forces him to live in almost constant fear.
Strengths/Weapons:
Highly intelligent: Blue is highly intelligent. Given the opportunity he might have become one of the most brilliant minds of his generation.
Shielded spark: Blues spark is shielded so there's no detectable spark signature or EM field when he is in weapon mode. Not even to a scanner. This makes him almost indistinguishable from a normal weapon, unless someone really knows what to look for and spots the t-cog or spark chamber.
Agility: Blue is quite agile, even though it’s no use to him in combat he uses his agility to skulk, circumvent security and silently dart into hiding should someone come his way.
Claws: His fingers are clawed, but they’re not useful against the usual cybertronian armor and won’t do much more than scratches in the finish. The claws however would be effective against organics or other light armored minicons or cassettes.
Host: Having a protective host comes in handy often enough. It also helps him somewhat coping with his agoraphobia, since Bladewing's presence gives him a sense of security. Being a carrier with Blue as his cassette he’s able to attach Blue's weapon form to his frame, allowing the two to share energon, so Blue can use up his host's energon rather than his own. It also allows Bladewing to incorporate Blue's weapon form into his transformation sequence.
Weapon form: Blue transforms into a regular nullray, that can be used to stun or paralyze others by freezing their circuitry, depending on the charge used. The more charge used the longer it takes to power up. The minimum charging time would be 5 seconds but might just be enough to paralyze a limb. The maximum charge would be reached after 30 seconds when it would give of a very powerful blow.
Thick armor gives a certain immunity to the nullray’s effects and really big (40ft and above) individuals can only be partially paralyzed. How long the paralyzation or stunning last depends on the charge used, how big the shot person is and how well armored that person is. It can also be used to freeze electric circuits for a short time and thus help bypass electronic locks.
Blue can neither move (aside from his trigger) nor speak in his weapon form. Shooting also consumes a certain amount of his own energon, depending on the charge. The weapon can only be used by Bladewing.
Forced entry tools: He has hidden his tools within hidden compartments within the spikes at his lower arms as well as his torso armor. Those are a maglock hacker, programmable key cards and other things that can trick security systems into thinking he is authorized to enter a certain area, tools to cut camera and other sensor feeds. But he would most likely just try to circumvent cameras and other sensors if possible.
Weaknesses:
Bladewing: Since he and his host are spark-bonded – even if they don't have a romantic relationship – he would do anything to keep him safe.
Agoraphobia: Places without cover or somewhere to hide, crowded places (three or more people), as well as other places or situations that are either outside of the security of his base or the security that being attached to Bladewing, or that are out of his control are really stressful for him and tend to make him panic pretty easy. This makes every trip outside a fight against himself for him, though the company of Bladewing, as well as the bond he shares with him makes it easier for him to cope.
Cassette: He’s small and fragile and thus in a world of giants could get under foot or squashed quite easily. Also, he isn’t able to transform on his own as he needs to attach himself to his host during the sequence.
Light armor: Blue is only lightly armored, even for a cassette, so it doesn't offer much protection.
Kleptomania: Things that are shiny or glittering have an almost hypnotic effect on him and just have to be added to his personal little treasury.
No fighter: Even though he technically is a weapon he doesn't really know how to fight, neither long range nor short range. And he has no intention to change that, as he'd rather keep his distance from fights or would hide. In his weapon form he'd rely on the skill of his host.
Special Skills:
Thief: He is able to get in and out of places with low to moderate security with practiced ease. Given enough time and the right equipment he'd be able to even get into high security areas, but that would also pose a great risk for getting caught, given the place wasn't abandoned.
Scientist: Even though he never really visited university Blue is on a pretty good way to one day become a great scientist specialized in biology and chemistry. Right now however he is on student level.
