~CHARACTER INFO~
Name: Dreadwing
Age: Early to Mid 30’s
Gender: Mech
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticon
Original Occupation: Captain of the Energon Seekers, Demolition expert, Strategist.
Occupation/Specialization: Decepticon Seeker.
Appearance: Dreadwing has a far bigger and bulkier build than many of his fellow Seekers, stacking a battle armour like figure with his large spiked shoulders, helmet and various other appendages that are all heavily plated. In size he matches eye to eye with Optimus Prime himself and stands just below Megatron’s head, carrying himself with a great posture wherever he treads.
Not much of his alt mode can be visible from his robot form, the only main feature being the remnants of the Cockpit which tucks into the front of his torso, the various winged areas of his alt mode are mostly the various spikes around his body creating a very clean curved look. Dreadwing’s head is fairly large in size, coated with a gold tinge with two large metallic brows in a curved flick that goes out either side of his head. The proportions of his arms to legs is very appendage heavy, his arms and legs exceeding huge amounts of metal mass whilst his torso shrinks in size the further it reaches to his waist, but nonetheless a strong build, his weapons are perfectly concealed behind his shoulder pads into two small slots on his back where he keeps his Plasma Cannon, long sword, and his two timed bombs alongside various explosives around his waist.
Dreadwing’s primary colour is a dark Navy Blue followed by a secondary yellow to gold tinted strips along his body, finalised with a silver under coat that fills in the gaps in his plated body.
Altmode: Modified Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning Fighter Jet.
History: Dreadwing, alongside his twin spark brother Skyquake, were given the honour of becoming a member of the Vosnian Energon Seekers under the direct command of Starscream before the Great War between Autobot and Decepticon. His intelligence mixed with his expertise in explosives, and lack of temper his twin possessed, made him the perfect candidate for the Demolition expert of the Seekers, and yet Dreadwing desired much more. He had the privilege of receiving such a position but yet he felt his talents were mistreated, his training in combat and natural skills in leadership had led Dreadwing to believe he would take a more militaristic career, despite this setback, Dreadwing did not turn down the position, searching for Energon throughout the Universe across hundreds of different planets.
With every successful mission, Dreadwing developed his skills in explosives and even utilised his intelligence to great effect. Always adapting to the planet’s raw minerals, evolving his explosives to handle any condition that could be thrown at it, the more he continued his role as a Seeker, the more he sought a seat of command. Dreadwing despised Starscream, he believed him unfit to command and instead wanted to take the mantle himself, not by deception or force but by simply proving to the Energon Seekers that he was far superior as Commander. Throughout their travels he began commedering his own operations of harvesting Energon in large quantities to great success, appealing his deeds to the Council in hopes that they would understand his talents were being underutilized, with more and more reports of his success Dreadwing quickly rose up the ranks to eventually become a Captain, seeking to compete for the title of commander soon after.
The short intervals Dreadwing was allowed to return back home to Cybertron had him exploring much of Kaon, in particular the Pits, where various gladiators would fight in glorious battle. The Pits of Kaon soon became a place where the Seeker Captain would visit often, seeing the combatants use all sorts of ingenious resolves to defeat one another, the thrill of war attracting Dreadwing, at times he would analyse each fight predicting a winner and always being surprised to see his calculation wrong. But there was one gladiator he always predicted to overcome his foe, a gladiator called Megatronus, taking the name from the dark Prime who came the closest to the destroyer Unicron, was indeed brave, but admirable. Dreadwing soon came to admire the great gladiator with each victory he could watch, rumors soon spread that Megatronus was to approach the Council to seek the honour of a Prime, a cause Dreadwing happily sided with.
Soon after Megatronus later became Megatron, forming the Decepticons to begin the Great Civil War, Dreadwing feeling the Council did not possess the honour or will to allow this great warrior the title of Prime, sided with Megatron, joining the Decepticons. He thrived in the following Eons of endless war, knowing he fought to make Cybertron into a Golden age of military advancement, a world he would gladly accept. Dreadwing learned from every victory and every defeat eventually developing a sense of integrity. He despised the Autobots for siding against the future of Cybertron but respected their battle tactics and prowess, Dreadwing wanted to defeat the Autobots in a fair battle of cunning. The Seeker had undying loyalty to Megatron, even going as far as to allow the Decepticon Leader to separate Dreadwing and his twin by sending Skyquake on a special mission that Megatron could not tell the Seeker. However in battle, Dreadwing took all possibilities into consideration, he would sometimes disobey orders for the sake of preventing disasters from hasty decisions, most times for the greater good, each battle evolving his strategic mindset against this eternal threat. Soon Dreadwing established himself as a Captain again, but his rank became short lived, the war drawing to its final act between the Nemesis and the Ark, Dreadwing remained on Cybertron whilst the two warships disappeared to an unknown location.
The Seeker Captain was left with little motivation, left alone in the ruins of his home and yet the whereabouts of his brother kept his mind occupied, distracted even. He continued to roam the wastes, sometimes continuing his skills in combat by practicing in the Pits of Kaon, with nothing but himself. Imagining the crowds of Decepticons with the glorious Megatron approving of his skills, yet that never came to pass. Soon Dreadwing felt a great pain, a great disturbance, this feeling only ever occurred when Skyquake, his twin, had fallen or had been damaged extensively. Eagerly boarding whatever ship he could salvage in the ruins of Cybertron, he set out to discover his twin’s fate. Scouring the Universe in hopes of reaching any Decepticon activity, praying it may be Skyquake.
Personality: Dreadwing carries a sense of integrity, making him far different from many of his fellow Decepticons. He holds himself with a warrior’s pride in serving his sovereign lord Megatron, for the Decepticon cause. Dreadwing would follow many orders from his superiors, but if he deems the situation to lead to catastrophe, the Seeker will find an alternative means to the goal, ensuring the safest and most likely success route to such goal. He values lives far more than many other Decepticons, if a standoff between Autobot and Decepticon could end with no energon spilt then Dreadwing would take that option, if it did not end with the Seeker being in the disadvantage.
The Seeker never shies away from conflict, in fact he enjoys the spoils of war always finding a way to face worthy opponents in fair combat. He shames cowardness but understands when the odds are not in his favour that retreat is always an option to fight another day. His loyalty to Megatron can sometimes overrule his own judgement, believing his word to be finite to his proposal, he can be obedient but only if he has gained the respect of that individual. He can even learn to respect his enemy if proven worthy, allowing more communication and more diplomatic resolves to ordeals knowing that his enemy has earned the respect and trust of the warrior but this trust is not easily won. By friend or foe.
He prefers to lead the situation rather than comply, to take matters into his own hands for the best outcome possible though he does appreciate when others make an input, but insubordination is never tolerated by Dreadwing. Neither is treachery of any sort, a blind attack or a betrayal of a deal is something the Seeker despises the most among the Decepticons. He does not hate his fellow Decepticons for developing these traits but he would never allow such acts to occur under his command.
Likes: The Decepticon Cause, Conflict, Honour, Worthy Foes, Demolition, Leading.
Dislikes: Treachery, Cheap tactics, Dishonour, Shame, Cowardness.
Strengths/Weapons:
Physique: His massive build gives him great strength and endurance in combat, however he also possesses a great sense of speed and coordination for a bit his size, matched with his extensive knowledge in war, this all mixes together to form a very formidable opponent to any Cybertronian.
Plasma Cannon: Dreadwing possesses a powerful Plasma Cannon that he can draw out from a small latch that opens up from the back of his shoulder plate. This weapon is a heavy duty weapon capable of shooting both plasma blasts to grenade canisters. The plasma shots are much slower than any other blasters but hit over twice as harder, capable of destroying heavy armour with a direct impact shot. The heavy weapon prevents his shots from being accurate and limits his mobility, the weapon is also prone to overheating after a burst requiring at least a good few seconds too keep the weapon useful making him a very slow moving target. It does not feature a reload system however after five shots the weapon requires a recharge rate of around 5 seconds before being useable again, and his grenade canisters also take out from his already limited supply of 6. The second alt fire mode shoots a small burst of up to three grenades that explode on contact, these grenades are projectiles and can change trajectory, causing massive damage but once again it makes him a walking target.
Master swordsman: The Seeker has trained much of his life with his retractable longsword in the art of a blade master, this longsword can surpass most standard forms of light to medium armour, it's weight is light for a Cybertronian of his statue but is not wieldable by many more smaller built Cybertronians. his skills as a swordsmen are impressive, rumours spread among the Decepticon ranks that he could stand a chance against Megatron himself and be able to hold his own with Optimus Prime.
Tactician: Dreadwing is not a blind brute that relies on his sheer size and strength alone, he has fought many battles and overcame many obstacles using his intellect over his braun. Knowing where to plant explosive devices to create chain reactions, analysing familiar movements within certain Autobots so that he may expose these weaknesses at whatever chance he may get.
Explosives expert: Dreadwing’s occupation as the demolition expert of the Energon Seekers gave him a variety of grenades, satchel charges, and proximity mines to use at his disposal. Each capable of causing heavy damage to any material, his preferred choice of explosive is his timed bomb. This bomb can attach itself on to any surface set for a timer of around 10 human seconds, this timed bomb implodes with a force great enough to reach up to 14 meters. From his experience no Cybertronian armour can withstand the blast at point blank range, obliterating most metal in the 5 meter radius. Many have been able to survive with major damage inflicted past that point. Its size means Dreadwing can only carry two of these bombs at at time. The bomb itself however can easily be removed or disarmed if his enemies notice it in time, even being destroyable without causing it to blow. Dreadwing also carries small grande canisters that can be used individually as a small satchel charge or to add to his secondary fire mode on his cannon. Despite that they do explode a 5 meter radius, these grenades do not pack much of a punch compared to his bombs, their size only amounting to so much damage in combat, but also allows him to carry around 6 at a time. Dreadwing usually uses this as a sort of stun grenade, only causing dents in Cybertronian armour and possibly tearing through light armour on smaller bots, the impact is primarily used to disoriented his opponent.
Weaknesses:
Exposed joints: Dreadwing may be fitted in a fully armoured case with barely any spaces for appendages and other key components to be exposed. The joints in between his elbow and shoulder guard have little to no protection, the way his body is structured these vulnerable joints control the movement of his lower arm and upper, the same goes for his legs, I’m between his knee and torso. If these areas are struck then his appendages could be disabled temporarily one by one.
Big bot syndrome: Like many larger bots, Dreadwing suffers greatly against far more nimble and smaller foes, like a fly you cannot swat. He may possess great coordination, but his massive build still keeps him slow compared to many small Autobots. In turn this provokes the rage within him.
Too confident in his skills: Dreadwing can get carried away with himself during battle, flashing around his blade, twirling it around to show off his skills or performing a maneuver that heavily relies on luck. Another fault would be commenting on his foe’s lack of aim or lack of duelling prowess. This can lead to the Seeker exposing himself to the most simplest of tricks or blows that could even end the confrontation quickly.
Predictable: His intelligence can be formidable but he does not seem to learn from his mistakes, once he finds a weakness he will repeat the same exposed move again and again, thinking to himself it is a flawless maneuver.
Rage: Dreadwing is far more composed and self controlled than his twin Skyquake, but he too is prone to enraged outbursts. If any were to dishonour or even irritate the Decepticon he will become a mindless brute, his mind ignoring any strategy, being easily fooled by the simplest of things.
Special Skills: Strategist: A former Captain has increased his knowledge in war related tactics and strategies, capable of enacting formations, procedures, choke points, flanking maneuvers and many more. These skills make Dreadwing even more threatening when he is leading others into battle.
