(Clarifying, Bee has one ball, Suni has three)
Sundance smiled at the implication her juggling skills were magic. She took it as a compliment to millennia spent practising the motions. She honestly expected the scout to pick up the basics quickly, Bee seemed adaptable and adept.
“Yah! Basically maximum airtime, minimum hand contact. I’ll break it down for ya.” Sundance caught a ball with her free hand and placed it in her lap, and quickly added a second so that she had exactly one ball in motion.
“Throw the ball up with one hand, catch with the other, and then pass straight back to the first.” Sundance demonstrated the motion herself so that the ball went up and across, up and across, up and across in a very rough circular motion.
“That’s the flight path you want to take. When you have more balls in motion, you have to have quicker hands and more consistent motion.” Sundance demonstrated the next step by picking up one ball from her lap and now moving two through their path. Though she had practised for eons, she still made mistakes, and her recent injuries were more than inconvenient. So even with the simplest of two ball juggling, she fumbled.
The wayward ball landed not in a waiting palm as intended, but to the outside, glancing off the thumb and bounding to the floor towards Unit74. The ball was made of plas-mel, a sort of rubberised metal. It had average elasticity and bounced only a couple of times before slowly rolling away.
“Well fluff! Would you like a go 74? Or is that dispenser needing a whack?” Sundance indicated the now freely available ball, closer to Unit74 than anyone else.
