Name: Verdigris
Age: pre-Golden Era; equivalent to a very active and fit 70-something.
Gender: Femme
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Neutral/Order of Solus
Occupation/Specialization: Circuit Class medic
Appearance/Altmode: Base mode: Standing slightly taller than Bulkhead, Verdigris has a stately appearance which is an illusion created more by her upswept, bladelike armor and helm than by any lack of mass. Her face and undermesh are nickel colored and slightly mottled with age (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nickel_kugeln.jpg). Her armor is predominantly blue, with white on the "fins" which adorn her helm, arms, and legs.
Alt mode: A blue and white Aton Impulse "Viking" amphibious rescue vehicle. (dl.dropbox.com/u/50148509/atonimpulseviking.png)
History: Verdigris was sparked full-frame to a medical research cohort prior to the start of the Cybertronian expansionist era. When Nova Prime came to power and began sending "exploration" ships offworld, Verdigris was able to secure a position on one of the first vessels launched.
Over the following centuries, the hazards of early space travel and not entirely peaceful contact with other races altered what was primarily a support and observational role, leading Verdigris to take on the functions of a full medic for the ship. Additionally, she gained far more experience than she would have liked dealing with a variety of emergency situations, both in space and planetside.
Upon her return to Cybertron, Verdigris was no longer satisfied by a simple research position, in part missing the inherent risk of shipboard life. After exploring various options, she joined the Order of Solus, both because she felt her experiences shouldn't be wasted and because (contrary to the ideal of bringing "Cybertronian superiority" to other species which had permeated the exploratory crews) her contact with various races led her to believe that all beings, no matter how "lowly", deserved the basic necessities of fuel, shelter, repair, safety, and dignity. As social unrest grew, so did her involvement with the Order, so that when unrest finally exploded into open warfare, it was a simple decision for Verdigris to dedicate herself fully to the Order's circuit class.
Personality: Verdigris' reputation for irascibility and short-temper have been...not exaggerated in the least. Her somewhat ruthless practicality is balanced by a belief in fairness and justice, and a genuine desire to see lives improved...not just the lives of her own cohort or caste, but the lives of all sentients.
Idealism never got anyone anywhere, though, not without a Pitload of hard work and getting dirty, and whatever she might hope to one day see, here and now there are mecha to keep alive and problems to be solved. To this end, Verdigris readily takes charge of situations where no one else seems willing or competent, and more than one person not technically under her authority has found themselves following her orders out of sheer turbofox-in-the-headlights shock over having her snapping at them.
Likes: people with sense, elegant design, plans that go smoothly, people who can follow instructions, exploration and discovery, problem solving
Dislikes: stupidity, poor planning/lack of preparation, smart-mouthed youngsters (and they're ALL youngsters to her at this point), people who charge in half-cocked and get themselves in trouble (SOLA DEX)
Strengths/Weapons: Long Reach: Verdigris' primary melee weapon is a double-ended energon staff. A solid hit at full power can temporarily offline a scout class opponent; plenty of Order members (Sola Dex) can attest that a smack at minimum power is no picnic, either. She also carries a simple mid-range blaster for emergencies, and other non-integrated weapons as the (projected) situation warrants.
Fights Dirty: Verdigris has no problem at all doing whatever it takes to ensure she and her charges get out of a situation safely. Whatever your frametype is, she's seen it, she's likely worked on it, and she will ruthlessly exploit its weaknesses.
A Little of This, A Little of That: While primarily involved with the Order's circuit class, Verdigris has familiarity with all four of the Order's branches. Record keeping, diplomatic work (not that anyone who knows her now would believe it), and combat were all introduced to her during her time on exploratory vessels; since the start of the war, she has taken to working closely with the forge class.
Weaknesses:Older than Rust Ancient Warrior: In spite of superb maintenance and a penchant for the latest upgrades, Verdigris is old, and is no longer as fast, strong, or agile as she used to be. She compensates for this by fighting smarter, but some days, youth and skill manage to overcome age and treachery.
With Age Comes Irritability: Some people grow more accepting with age. Verdigris, on the other hand, has seen that before, she knows it's stupid, and she will slap the stupid out of you if you give her half a chance. As you may expect, this makes her popular at parties.
Downsizing: Verdigris used to be more actively involved with the blade class and potential-combat situations, and has been used to train blade class in a pinch. She has scaled back her standard weapons as her primary functions have shifted, and when situations unexpectedly go sour she often expects to be better armed than she actually is. She hates this, taking it as a personal affront to her own tenet of being prepared for whatever the universe can throw at you. Unfortunately, there is only so much subspace a mecha can have, and at this point, integrated weaponry would take an impractical amount of refitting (see Older than Rust).
Special skills (that are not weapon related): Boyscout: an under-stocked field kit is nobody's friend, and Verdigris makes sure to keep her subspace stocked with repair supplies and rations.
Extra Info: Master Chef: Verdigris tends to relieve stress by making sweets, if the resources are available. If you don't piss her off, perhaps she will pull out her old recipe for oilcake or crystal pie and make you one.
