Name/Alias: Feldspar
IM/Email: PM if needed!
Name: Dart
Age: Human equivalent - mid twenties.
Gender: Female
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticons
Occupation/Specialization: Data courier
Appearance/Altmode: At times, Dart seems to be a bit of an oddity in a faction full of large robots that transform into mobile weapons platforms, killer jets, and forty foot space guns. There is no mistaking this femme for anything but a lanky, long-limbed sprinter. Scuffed and scratched, mud-spattered and road-grimed, she's obviously terrain worn.
Behind the courier's narrow shoulders is the rear spoiler of her car mode; the metal strip is fairly mobile and twitches and flicks to help her keep her balance while moving. Her plating is dull black and grey with a few lavender accents here and there. She's leggy and tall enough to actually look a seeker of Starscream's height in the eye, but rarely does. Dart has slanted blue optics and swept back 'ponytail' on her helm.
There is a stylized silver lightning bolt on her chest, and centered in it is her Decepticon sigil. Her faction badge is marred with four deep burn marks. They are raw, non-repaired wounds but are likely more than a year old; the edges have smoothed a bit with time and wear. Her right arm is covered in strips of dirty duct tape from at the wrist joint to about mid-forearm, almost as if she's wearing a brace.
On each hip in robot mode, Dart has a locking pannier, to carry small things such as data cards, fuel samples, and other notes. The only items that she appears to tote with her all the time are: a nylon dog collar, an ancient, scuffed data-pad with a worn lizard logo on it, something small carefully wrapped in scavenged bubble wrap and cardboard, and a human-sized, tri-folded laminated map of Oregon.
She transforms into a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am. All of her vehicle mode appears to be factory specs, exactly as the car rolled off the production line. Right down to the fact that Dart has a tape deck instead of a CD player. Yes, it works. It also has a tendency to stick and you need a screwdriver to get the tape out.
History: Dart was revived from a badly damaged personality component and brought back into the Decepticon ranks. Everything she knows and has learned is from the day of her rebuild; which was on Earth, in a remote little outpost somewhere in Oregon.
There are times she gets some flashes of memory, sparked by a comment or a place, or even a mech. Unfortunately, they seem to be nothing but vague moments, most of which are that the courier is carrying messages for someone while leaping and dashing through canyons made of metal.
Dart seems to be resigned about the situation though, and doesn't go out of her way to ask questions or search out answers about it.
For several months after she was reactivated, Dart worked mostly on her own, carrying messages and small components when transmission silence and swiftness was needed. After a major mishap during a ground conflict, she was abruptly re-assigned to a team under the command of Pyrotech.
She has been in his squad ever since, mostly operating along the Pacific Coast. Recently, they were stationed in Canada and Alaska, and then sent to Australia. This was their only overseas mission, and it resulted with the only apparent survivors being Dart and Pyrotech. They returned to the States after that and have remained quietly out in the wilderness, working on the job that's been entrusted to the architect.
Personality: Dart's polite, soft spoken, and hard-working. She is always concerned about doing her assigned job as quickly and correctly as she can. Around new mechs or in stressful situations, she often appears jittery, nervous, and perhaps downright glitchy.
The courier seems to have latched onto a lot of organic behaviors, and some of them aren't even human.
Often Dart can be found spending hours quietly hidden, watching humans and wildlife go about the most mundane of tasks. In doing so, she’s accumulated more than a passing knowledge about these subjects. She's at home and skilled in the wilderness and natural terrain and uses Earth's topography to her advantage to avoid conflict and protect herself when carrying messages.
In fact, Dart's Earth-knowledge is quite detailed and often surprisingly obscure. In her mind, Earth is home, not Cybertron. It's all she knows.
Likes: Running full speed for the sheer joy of it. Oregon. Forests and oceans. Wild horses. Stray wharf cats and savvy street dogs. Reading. Coffee shops and bookstores. Geology. Duran Duran and other 80's pop music. Humans for the most part. Rain. Tetris. Her holo-avatar.
Dislikes: Flying. Being chased. Being shot at. Plate glass windows (stupid reflections, she totally thought it was an alley to escape in.) Long, boring meetings pertaining to conquering the universe. Giant robot fights that endanger humans. Possums. Lawyers. Possum-shaped lawyers. Angry moose.
Strengths/Weapons:
Dart’s olfactory and audio receptors are enhanced to the point where they are no doubt on par with some of the most specialized Cybertronian creatures. She can scent track incredibly well; in the perfect weather and terrain conditions the courier has successfully followed a trail between ten to twelve days old. Dart both air-scents and can follow ground-disturbance. She is considered a scent discriminator; after being given a sample of the mech's odor, she can recall and alert on it years later. She can easily tell the differences between individuals (both Cybertronians and humans.)
Dart has also been successfully been taught to sniff out Dark Energon with a range of up to forty feet underground, and it is more than likely she could be trained to scent some other types of minerals as well.
The courier never suffers from olfactory fatigue or becomes "nose-blind" even when exposed to large concentrations of scent for long periods of time. This allows her to track a trail for days without stopping, or work through somewhere with large concentrations of Cybertronians or humans and stay focused on a single scent.
Dart is incredibly dependent on these senses, and rarely if ever uses conventional scanners.
Sprint: Dart was built to carry a message from point a to b by herself when electronic communications are jammed or likely to be intercepted. In her base humanoid mode, she can accelerate quickly into a sprint that has been clocked at nearly fifteen hundred miles an hour. Her body frame was designed with speed and maneuverability in mind - her root mode is sleek and streamlined, and there is nothing that sticks out to catch on trees or cause much drag. She is specialized to dodge fliers using the cover of Earth's natural terrain to her advantage.
The courier has tremendous leg strength; everything within her legs is reinforced and designed to take the shock of her stride striking and pushing off the ground at high speed. This gives her a kick like a large robotic mule (if there is such a beast! ) It is primary method of defense when cornered or attacked.
Wrist Knife: Dart has a thin, retractable blade sheathed in her right forearm. It is more of a weapon meant to slash at speed than to block and parry. Most of the time she uses it to cut through overgrown areas of Earth's vegetation; it's certainly not well-designed for hard hand to hand combat. There's always the chance the knife will break on heavy armor.
Fuel Adaptability: Able to process and survive for periods of time on many refined earth fuels, including standard gasoline, diesel, and even small amounts of av-gas. In a truly desperate situation, Dart can even live off of crude oil. However, the residue and buildup that will occur within her systems from unrefined petroleum is an absolutely miserable experience. Dart would prefer not to ever have to resort to that again, no matter what.
Weaknesses: Her systems use up quite a bit of fuel in both modes. It is absolutely possible for someone to push her into a situation and run her down by sheer energy depletion.
Dart's internal cooling regulators and systems are so fine-tuned and depend so much on air movement that if she’s forced to be completely stationary for long periods of time, they will overheat and fail. If this happened, it would totally burn her peripheral systems out. If she was unable to manage to get cooled down, it would certainly send her offline and very likely kill her.
The courier's comm-link often has connectivity issues, especially when she's wet or in very remote areas. Often it will lose signal, even stop working for a day or two before she manages to get it rebooted again and reset. No one's been able to figure out the reason for this problem, and it may be connected to several other factors from the time she was reactivated.
Her self-diagnostics are equally touchy and intermittent.
Dart's highest speed is limited to short bursts- her top speed lasts only for about a hundred and twenty five miles before she has to slow down due to heat issues.
Since the courier's armor consists of incredibly light alloy materials to cut down on weight, it provides about the same amount of protection as being encased in a rather large soda can when it comes to weapons fire and most hand to hand attacks.
Dart is far more comfortable in her primary mode than transformed as a car. Basically, transforming allows her to lay low and hopefully avoid detection.
She is not at all a physical powerhouse; Dart relies on her speed and agility to get her out of most combat situations.
Dart speaks no Cybertronian. She doesn't read it or understand it, either. The only language so far that she apparently has access to in her language banks is English.
The courier has an extreme fear of flying. She cannot and will not fly. She is absolutely terrified when she's taken off the ground and into the air; it does not matter if it's a mech or a transport... well, or anything else for that matter.
