Name/Alias: Feldspar
IM/Email: peralkaline@gmail.com
Name: Pyrotech
Age: Human equivalent - Mid-thirties
Gender: Male
Species: Cybertronian
Faction: Decepticons
Original Occupation: Architect
Occupation/Specialization: Architect/ Base design and construction
Appearance/Altmode:
Pyrotech is a deep, gleaming red, always polished and extremely well cared for. Height wise, he's on the taller size of most carbots, standing about the same size as Ratchet, but leaner in build. His body has accents of grey, and bits of yellow and white. He obviously is a vehicle bot; complete with door wings and a car hood chest that is instantly recognizable as such. His Decepticon sigil takes the place of his hood badge and can flip from the purple to more subtle and hidden plain silver. Pyrotech's helm has both short "ears" and intakes on the sides. Behind his left shoulder is a removable ladder; on top of it is a small mounted cannon.
He transforms into a 2002 Peugeot H2O Firefighting Concept Car. In keeping true to the electrical nature of his chosen form, his engine in this mode is nearly silent when he runs.
History:
Pyrotech was a rising architect back in Vos, before the start of of the War. Originally, he started out designing retail spaces and housing projects. He was a charasmatic, bright mech, a willing learner, who was respectful to those above him, focused and goal-oriented. He soon developed a good reputation, and became quickly known for his projects. He followed budgets to the decimal; creating spaces both useful and beautiful.
Pyrotech soon stepped contentedly into the role of master architect. He worked on several projects, including ones at Vos and Tarn. He helped design the supports of the Bridgeway, a well-known transport span that at one point connected the two cities. He soon found himself in the circuit of artistic, upper-level parties and get-togethers and it was there he soon found himself quietly watching and listening to the political dissent among his peers and finding a fascination in it that he'd only discovered in architecture and in -- well, one other aspect of his life...
When the war started, he remained on the sidelines for a while, watching to see how the tide turned. The damage to his building creations seemed to deeply upset him; and he was the first one there on site in those cases to assess the damage and fix what he could for the safety of others. He offered his services to repair damages to buildings, to roadways, and he was always listening. Agreeing. Disagreeing, and he learned very quickly that with a few well-placed words, opinion was easily swayed.
In the end, it was Pyrotech who chose his path with the Decepticons, offering his services as a builder. He now sets himself to designing fortifications and military buildings. He has steadily climbed rank and file. He's known as someone who can get a task done with a minimum of expenditure and cost, and as someone that those above him can trust to be close-mouthed about plots and plans. His investment and loyalty to the Decepticon cause is without question.
He recently accepted an assignment to come to Earth. He's lent his expertise into building in the local terrain, discovering resources of metals and building materials. He seems to be enjoying the challenge; it's new and different from the ruins of Cybertron. He has worked his way through several low-ranking squads given to him. Recently, he was stationed building bunkers in Canada and Alaska, and then for some unknown reason was assigned to Australia.
This last mission resulted in the only apparent survivors being Pyrotech and the data courier Dart. They have returned to the States, where Pyrotech is once again working on discovering and cataloguing base and fortification resources.
Personality:
Aristrocratic in both manner and speech, Pyrotech is the sort of mech you’d expect to see in a high society get-together back in the golden days of Cybertron. The one who'd be discussing the merits of classic architecture, and be able to hold his own speaking about art, literature, and politics.
He is a calculating and intelligent mech. A perfectionist, he will turn and walk from a situation he knows he cannot win. He is a firm believer in the chain of command; he is never rude to a superior officer, but anyone beneath his own rank is often completely dismissed.
Pyrotech has been known to quite willingly sacrifice members of his own team to further the Decepticon goal of conquest. He’s even gone so far as to set up his own soldiers in the traps he creates. He is careful though not to have it traced back to him. War happens. Accidents happen. Sacrifices of the lower ranks and class must be made for the greater cause. He believes wholeheartedly that the Decepticons are meant to win, and that the glory days of Cybertron's architecture and culture will return.
Likes: Grand architecture. Cityscapes that show thought and planning. Long stretches of abandoned roads. Mechs that know their job and their place. Thoughtful political discussions. Board games.
Dislikes: Earth dirt and grunge. Rain. Snow and ice. Nosy reporters. Uncouth mechs. Organic things. Lakes. Australia.
Strengths/Weapons:
Pyrotech's fingertips are basically soldering guns. They were originally designed to weld support beams and joists in tight spaces. Each finger contains a small trigger-style micro-switch. He basically uses his electrical relays to very rapidly heat and cool his fingertips. Since the tip has a much higher resistance than the rest of his hands the tips gets very hot and the rest of his hands stay cool.
He now uses this ability to his advantage in close quarters fighting; driving for the optics, or any other vital place (joints and chests are some of his favorite targets.) He can burn through the armor of many mechs if given a few moments of opportunity; often right down to their inner workings.
In robot mode he wears a shoulder mounted cannon that blasts out a gel-like, metal-eating substance similar to napalm. However, it is completely harmless to organic material. Washing it off with water will cease all damage, and rolling in dirt will smother most of the burn.
Pyrotech is an excellent hand to hand fighter, even though he'd honestly prefer to keep his distance if possible. His armor is built to withstand high-heat stresses and is resistant to his own gel-solution. He's strong and agile and has no qualms against fighting dirty.
He also carries one small, handheld projectile pistol. It's tucked away under the plating of his hip, a nicely concealed carry. It doesn't do much against stronger armors at a distance; he will use it in tight quarters for the most damage.
Weaknesses:
While his armor can take good amounts of heat - it's not as effective against projectile weapons fire and hard hitting physical blows.
His electrical systems are highly temperamental. His fingers often end up shorting out when used in fighting. They need constant, careful maintenance. He's incredibly sensitive to EMP attacks and can be rendered useless quickly with them.
The gel he uses in his shoulder cannon can only be used five times in short succession before it has to be recharged. The recharging process takes hours and he can only do it back at base when he's got time to remove the weapon from his systems.
Pyrotech requires a more refined fuel, and he performs poorly when he's forced to use other options. When forced to utilize such a product, he ends up acting nearly drunk. And he’s not a pleasant drunk... not at all.
Underestimates everyone around him constantly, and will not trust his subordinates to properly do the tasks he has assigned them to do. He is arrogant and condecending to most members of his own teams. This does not make him someone who wins friends - his attitude tends to create dissent behind his back. Everyone under his command at one point has hoped that his brakes someday fail at the edge of a large cliff. They’d cheer all the way down. (Quietly, though. Just in case he was fine when he hit the bottom.)
Other notes: To be continued...
