Mirage paid no heed to Zoom Zoom’s griping. Or to Thunder’s confused staring. Or to Carbine’s gawking. There was a dog in front of him, so everyone else in the room was irrelevant. On one hand, it was rude to ignore someone when they were talking to him, but on the other hand, there was a dog. Dogs took precedence over firing back a witty remark in response Zoom Zoom’s sarcastic grousing.
“I’m certain we will.” He replied, distractedly, not really paying much mind to how dismissive his words seemed.
Zoom Zoom was already in a foul mood, and Mirage knew the minibot held no fondness for him, so he doubted he would take much offense to being brushed aside so casually.
“Farewell, Zoom Zoom.” He added as an afterthought, bidding the mech goodbye despite his attention being otherwise occupied, simply because it was the polite thing to do.
He was lucky he said it when he did, because if he had waited a few moments more, he would have lost the opportunity entirely. Not just because Zoom Zoom seemed eager to leave the room as soon as he was physically capable, but because Bolo decided to introduce himself in a most...enthusiastic fashion.
Mirage’s optics widened slightly as he realized what the cassette was about to do, recognizing his body-language for what it was - a sign that he was preparing to jump. Thankfully, instead of being pounced upon and unceremoniously knocked to the floor, Bolo contented himself with simply planting his front paws on his shoulders, his tail-less hindquarters wiggling in a display of pure unabashed joy.
Mirage would have found things a little more endearing had Bolo not immediately tried to slobber all over his helm.
“Tried” being the key-word, because Mirage was having none of this face-licking business. Swiftly, the moment the pup planted his paws upon his shoulders, he reached his hands up to cup his hands on either side of Bolo’s face, while leaning back to avoid the friendly kisses aimed at his helm. Firmly, but not harshly, he angled the dog’s head down and to the side, pointing his muzzle towards his shoulder, which was a far more preferable place to be slobbered on than his face. As he changed the direction of Bolo’s muzzle, he made a point of curling his fingers behind his audios, to give them a fond little skritch.
He leaned back a bit, craning his neck so that he could see beyond Bolo and look to Carbine. He looked mildly amused, smirking faintly with a single eyebrow raised as if silently asking the other mech to explain his cassette’s behavior.
Thundercloud, meanwhile, was watching the entire scene with amusement, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked from Mirage to Carbine, wondering how the latter was going to handle things. It was a toss up as to whether he would make some sort of smooth recovery, or just flail his way through a mortified apology, because pretty mecha tended to make him forget How To People.
